HTPC use
- Pros: Fantastic board for a HTPC. The only card I have installed is the TV Tuner Card. Unlike other boards I've had in the past, the onboard sound and video work flawlessly and don't stutter or affect system performance.
- Cons: Nothing for my use as an HTPC
- Other Thoughts: I'm running Windows 7 beta on this machine as my HTPC. I'll run more updates, but so far I've had some issues with media center. It crashed on my wife last night during The Office, but still recorded the entire show. This wasn't the Motherboards fault, merely dealing with beta software. The board was a huge improvement over my old MSI Nvidia board.
I kept the same Athlon X2 4050e downgraded to 2GB ram and system still feels faster. MSI board was recycled with a Sempron to be used as a NAS.
Great for HTPC
- Pros: I can get rid of my graphics card, and soundcard.
Dolby Digital Live
Plays HD no with no problem with drivers that came with the mobo
- Cons: Dolby Digital Home Theater isnt as exciting as I expected.
- Other Thoughts: I have a 5050e CPU which is perfect for HTPC. Really quiet.
I'll eventually get some sata HD's but I've heard that people have problems loading Vista using raid hds.
Windows 7 ready!
- Pros: Attractive, lots of USB 2.0 ports, 16GB capable, Runs Windows 7 BETA 64 just fine. No driver issues, as yet. Onboard video a nice upgrade from my old 9600 AIW. Now I can top out my detail settings in Supreme Commander! Counter Strike Source no longer stutters.
I threw this board in an old case and no problem. Was bought retail in town and marked up about 40 bucks. I still love it and I'm going to buy more for new builds soon, from Newegg of course!
- Cons: None that I can see at this time.
