She's doing great
- Pros: For the price of this mobo I'm quite pleased. My Phenom 940 is currently managing 3672Mhz prime stable at 18x204 1.525vcore 68C (hot!). LIke the extra PCI-X slots
- Cons: Spacing between the CPU slot and memory is small. Unable to mount memory cooler. Reset CMOS jumper hard to reach. Does not have SLI capability.
Memory Compatibility Issues
- Pros: Has lots of sata ports and built in functionality (video, sound, raid etc). Good price I suppose
- Cons: Cannot get dual channel memory configuration to work. Bought ram listed on Gigabyte web site as compatible (Geil, exact model number listed on Gigabyte web site) 4 2gig dimms (8gig total). Only works with one dimm or two dimms in single channel config (which isn't a config mentioned in the manual). With all four dimms or dual channel config with 2 dimms will not post, no video, no beeps nothing. I wouldn't not purchase this mobo if you want easy ram installation/configuration.
- Other Thoughts: I'm still hoping to find a solution to my ram woes but in the mean time I would recommend you find another board. This was my first board from Gigabyte after being a loyal Asus patron. I will be switching back unless I can get this fixed.
Just works and no problems
- Pros: Constructed like a tank, nice Caps and no problems. Liked the first one so much I bought a second one for my standby. Have built several systems over the years, and would not think twice about buying another Gigabyte. No joke, no bull, just true. Running a 9850 BE oc to 3.0 on XP, and a 5400+ BE oc to 3.1 on W7 with just clock changes. Both systems fired up with no problems.
- Cons: None
