Worth the time and money
- Pros: Very well laid out board. Solid construction. Easy to setup and use, drivers were current and a breeze to install. The power and reset buttons on the board a real plus when working on the system. All in all a pleasure to setup and use.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: I have used ASUS in the past and while they are good solid boards they do require a bit of work to tweak in correctly. Gigabyte did it correctly on the first try and with no real adverse problems. Buying a second one for a friend to replace a fried board. Will buy more from them in the future.
Excellent
- Pros: No fan, solid capacitor, nice layout
- Cons: Maybe the orientation of the SATA ports, would be better face up.
- Other Thoughts: Stable with F7, nice overclocking potential.
A truly Great Motherboard
- Pros: Solid construction, 2 oz copper tracks and durable, can survive even the most inexperienced computer builder. This board has 10 SATA ports, plenty of USB ports and works great with AMD 955 without an issue. The layout is good since it puts all of the necessary connectors where cables won't inhibit air flow. The board is stable with Windows 7 and required no additional driver installation for board resources. BIOS provides many options including overclocking.
- Cons: The only minor issues are a lack of Floppy drive data cable and if you utilize the bracket for external SATA drives. The data cables have to pass over the motherboard from rear to front. I have tried this adapter to transfer data from old drives, but upon completion of this task, removed the bracket. A neat computer is one that has plenty of air flow.
- Other Thoughts: This is the third Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT motherboard that I have purchased. It is stable and reliable. The oldest one is now nearly 3 months old with no issues.
The builds with this board have consisted of : AMD 955 BE CPU This Motherboard G-Skill DDR3 RAM ( 4 GB) 3- Western Digital 500 GB hard drives Antec New TP 650 and TP 750 ( the last two builds) EVGA 260 Nvidia PCI-Express video card Windows 7 Ultimate.
