So far So good
- Pros: many sata ports, runs cool no issues
- Cons: sata ports were hard to get to, had to remove a cooling shroud in my case...no real issue. Do be warned though the unit came with no screws or standoffs...so if you dont have any order them too
- Other Thoughts: I said I wouldnt buy another gigabit unit as I have has 2 burn up and 1 DOA..this one is working fine so far with no complaint...wondering if it will accept a 2.1 video card
Wow!!! nice motherboard
- Pros: super nice value, is much nicer in person. Has every bell and whistle except usb 3.0 which isn't needed at all.
- Cons: not a thing
- Other Thoughts: My motherboard is all blue and white there is no orange, yellow or purple on my motherboard. I like it's look much better than the old picture newegg is posting here.
GA-MA790X-UD4P RULES !
- Pros: Have built quite afew machines since 1992, this is my first SATA board (stopped building about 4 years ago)and could't have been more pleased with such an EASY board to work with. There are Soooo many options and the @Bios did the F9 bios update in Win XP Pro desktop w/o a hitch. PLEEEZE People do your home work !!! By that I mean I take SERIOUSLY the posts on Newegg ... I rely on good info NOT spew from those that can't read manuals, manf. websites, or insist on building systems with their eyes closed. This is a fantastic Mobo with more than enough goodies for a VERY SOLID machine with lots of room to grow. AND YES VIRGINIA, G-SKILL 1066 MEM DOES RUN @ 1066 W/O A PROBLEM (read the manual). Set the mem settings to manual, set your timing to 5,5,5,15 and the multiplier to 5.33 and viola! 1066 Mhz mem ( it IS amazing when you r.t.f.m. !!!)
- Cons: 1)Only a minor isue that others have mentioned ... can only get muffled sound from my old crt mounted speakers, hope a new digital powered set will cure that.
2) Haven't found a way to get it to refill my coffee ;>)
- Other Thoughts: My system:
GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard Gigabyte GV-R467ZL-1GL ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 Gb DDR3 Vid card HP dvd1260i DVD writer ANTEC Earthwatts 650 watt PSU Asus 52x cd-rom G-Skill 2 x 1Gb 1066 Mhz Mem WD 750 Gb 'Green' HDD AMD Athlon X2 5000 dual core 2.2 Ghz Retail ( Am2+)1.0 Mb total cache (now running as a Quad Core AMD Phenom FX-5000 X4 Deneb socket AM3 WITH 6.0 Mb L3 cache !!! Thanks to the F9 Bios and a FANTASTIC Mobo This dual core cpu cost me less than 60 bucks at Newegg and I now have a Quad core AND it wasn't a "Black" edition ... Can you say SWeeeeeet !!! If you want to do a budget build start with a great motherboard, PSU, Mem, and HDD ... those are the minimum essentials, even at that you'll only need acouple of gigs of mem with XP and then W/ Win 7 four gigs will do unless you just HAVE to use all 16 gigs this board will handle ;>)
