4 out of 5 eggsGreat except for RAID recovery

Pros: Easy to set up. Works with MD 1090T. Good feature set and price. Hardware RAID.

Cons: All was peachy until the machine couldn't boot up. Ran down the problem and it's the RAID-1 set. One of the drives is either defective or out of sync. Either way, I cannot find instruction anywhere on how to reliably add a new drive (to rebuilt the RAID-1) or re-sync everything (if the other drive is not defective). Right now, I am running off one of the two drives. Got this board because of the feature set - especially the built-in RAID. Again, all is good until you need to actually rebuild/restore the RAID-1 configuration. The Gigabyte web site has nothing on this. In the meantime, I will figure out the issue with the other drive, but I would like to know what to do so I can rebuild things - and would like to be certain that the RAID chipset is really worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board.

Pros: Bought back in 2010 still running strong never had a single problem. Was an amazing mobo for my first true scratch build.

Cons: not pci 3.0 or am3+... will have to upgrade in the next year or so.. but still I got 3 good years out of this build and will get another two years before i upgraded.

Other Thoughts: I was impressed with this Gigabyte Mobo.. works great still, good color scheme, sata III was a great mobo in its prime.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice motherboard

Pros: Has awesome features, such as SATA-3, USB 3.0, 8 SATA ports, integrated video...

Cons: SATA ports all point towards front of case, make sure you get SATA cables with the 90-degree ends or it will be a pain. It is a HUGE hassle to install new hard drives inside my LEXA S Crafted case. Also, don't buy this if you want to use USB 3.0 ports on your case. It does not have any USB 3 headers, only a few USB 3 slots in the back of the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: No SLI/Crossfire supports, so if you are looking to do that, do not buy this board. All-in-all, it's a decent AM3 motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggsGA-890GPA-UD3H owner

Pros: Has a lot of good features like USB 3, SATA 3, plenty of other connections that have become mainstream but were new when this board was released.
I was actually the first reviewer of this board. It has been reliable with a couple of notable exceptions.

Cons: I tried to install Linux dual booted with Windows 7 and it killed the onboard ethernet port. A BIOS upgrade brought it back but I have still never been able to use Linux on this board.
USB 3 ports on back are right next to onboard ethernet port. For some reason this renders the ethernet port unusable while using a USB 3 port at the same time.
I hate sideways SATA ports that point toward the front of the case.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board specifically for USB 3 functionality, but it is a really bad implementation of it. Teh onboard USB 3 ports have never worked correctly relative to their integration with the rest of the system.
The rest of the board is very well built and has held up great. If you need USB 3, you will need to seek a third party expansion card as there are no USB 3 headers.
This is a follow-up review for anyone buying one of these used. I have owned this since it was first released and it has been in constant use for almost 3 years. This AMD setup I assembled has outlasted and outperformed comparable Intel machines that cost several times more.
I took off 1 egg for USB 3 issues and 1 egg off for ethernet issues just to balance out my initial 5 egg review.
Aside from those issues I would recommend this board to anyone, it will be an especially good value used.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board working great for almost 3 years now

Pros: I have had this board since may of 2010 and it still works great. it really dissapoints me that some people give this board a bad review when 99.9% of the time its the users lack of computer skills that is the real problem but they would rather blame it on the companies instead of them selfs. see when you RMA a product and the company sends you back the product with little to nothing to tell you what was wrong with the product then they are trying to tell you as nice as they can that the product is fine and the user that as no common since that you should learn how to build a computer. I have been building pcs since 1999 and not once have I had a problem with any product I have ever bought or worked on. in other words if you really r guessing at what you r doing then don't leave bad reviews. the reviews were made for one reason and that's if its a good or bad product so be careful when writing a review because your hurting peoples minds about the products.

Cons: none as worked great for going on 3 years now I love this board no problems what so ever

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great board. It's been running my Phenom II x6 for over a year without a hiccup, with a crossfire setup video. There were no issue with getting anything running.

Cons: That it was discontinued on Newegg =/

Other Thoughts: I've been leery on using Gigabyte boards. I used to have terrible experiences and problems with them going in 6 months. This board has given me a new hope and I will definitely consider Gigabyte boards in the future.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Relatively low price for decent quality, is pretty thick/durable as well.

Cons: Default BIOS settings incorrectly time G.Skill ram, rendering the system susceptible to consistent blue screens. After 1-2 years and 4gb of fault ram modules resulting from incorrect bios "auto" timings, I think it would have been more pleasurable experience if the BIOS would have set the timing of ram correctly itsself.

Ram - 6GB DDR3 Patriot G series
Video Card - Diamond ATI Radeon HD 5750 running a 27in LG HD TV Monitor HDMI 1920x1080
