3 out of 5 eggs2 of 3 - not bad

Pros: Easy to set up. I-5 processor worked well with it. Decent if not better than needed "office" performance. No video card installed or needed.

Cons: I purchased three of these boards and one of the three has died. It first restarted with the multi colored screen and then the bios would not even boot. The other two board are still running fine.

Other Thoughts: This board, or any of the other boards, were not overclocked / overworked. The I5 processors handled all our office tasks easily and fast.

1 out of 5 eggsNo good

Pros: Worked good for the first few months

Cons: Pc will not boot. I swapped all the pieces and it will not load OS. I Installed xp on the hdd using a different pc and it ran flawlessly but when i reconnected the hdd to the motherboard and boot up, it passes post but stays on loading operating system and never gets past that. I checked all the wiring and swapped cables with doubles that were known working and no change. I have been in IT for a few years and have a degree and know what I am doing. I checked bios and had it set correctly. I could do nothing to get this pc to boot up.

Other Thoughts: I see many bad reviews for this mobo why was it not recalled?

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good - how to fix the beep

Pros: This board has been stable for me (with one exception below). Great connectivity for SATA support, USB 3.0 support. I guess I didn't get a board from the bad batch.

Cons: None really except for that annoying sporadic beep. It is NOT a BIOS boot error beep, it happens during run time.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte should REALLY have a special link - "If your board beeps at odd times - READ THIS" just to save us some time. In fairness, it seems to be an Intel issue (according to what I've read). Turn of the C3/C6/C7 support in the CPU settings, and it goes away.

It has something to do with the fan speed readings.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: None.

Cons: Worked for couple months then intermittent screen freezes, then intermittent disk read errors. Now completely dead with disk read error. I've swapped out every component and they all work fine. Wish I had looked up the problems with this board before but the computer wasn't used often for the first few months.

5 out of 5 eggsHave no idea why this board is not rated higher...

Pros: I needed a system that would be my primary backup development system. It needed to be 1) cheap 2) reasonably fast and 3) stable. I dropped a I3-550 on it with embedded GPU, 8GB RAM and a SSD. It smokes. It's stable. It's upgradable.

I wanted a base system I could drop a graphics card plus i5 into - this will do it.

Cons: I have seen some weirdness - no recovery from standby. Nothing serious.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for a month and then died

Pros: When it was working, it was nice!

Cons: Died after about a month of use. Not overclocked, good cooling, quality PS, quality memory. Intermittent disk read errors (won't boot). Even booting from DVD produces a black screen of death. Swapped mobo with an MSI and everything works just fine!
Have contacted NewEgg customer service to see if they will do anything. If not, I will attempt RMA back to GB.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT WORTH THE RISK

Pros: NONE!

Cons: Video problems (of course)!
& Gigabyte Tech Support is TERRIBLE!!

Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit: Video Drivers on CD are actually newer than those posted on Gigabyte website. Then MS has their own version. Which to use? NONE! Each version causes the system to reboot spontaneously, doesn't matter if the systems in use or not. All parts used were verified at Gigabit site for compatibility and purchased NEW.

Remove the video drivers and voila! System stabilizes! But now you don't get the HD resolutions and are stuck with Analog resolutions only!

Any other software installed? NOPE! Just the operating system and the bare drivers from the CD. Not even any of the fancy toolset found on the CD, and not a single RAID driver or any other driver not needed.

Tried contacting Gigabyte but guess who only takes tech support issues on the website and says they'll contact later?

Other Thoughts: 30 years professional IT experience and I'm telling you - no Gigabyte ever again for me or any of my clients.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes all the time

Pros: Colorful motherboard. Fast when it works.

Cons: This board has some serious problems.
1. The screen frequently freezes, then goes black, and when it returns 30 seconds later, it reports that the graphics driver crashed, and was restarted.
2. The screen freezes, then goes black, and within 30 seconds gives blue dump screen.

Sometimes it goes a few minutes before crash, sometimes as much as 30 minutes. It looks like video like VLC, youtube or any other video i particular will cause the driver to crash, but it will crash without video as well.

I have installed all video drivers from the CD, from your web page, directly from Intel etc etc
I have underclocked, undervoltaged, overvoltaged, default setting and any other thinkable BIOS setting combination

Can anyone please show me a graphics driver for this board that does not crash every hour

1 out of 5 eggsStill No Video on Resume

Pros: None at this time.

Cons: Still no video coming out of resume/hibernate. Both Gigabyte support and the Gigabyte VIP Support Team where no help. Now they want me to try:

1 - A different operating system

Well, this system was built with Win-XP Pro in mind as I have software that run best under this OS. If Newegg wants to donate a copy of Win7 like suggested I will give it a try. I am not going to purchase an OS so I can troubleshoot an issue for the manufacturer.

2 - Replace CPU

It's been almost three months trying to resolve this issue. I don't think Newegg will exchange the CPU at this point. I was assured this issue could be resolved, now this suggestion. Great!!!

Other Thoughts: At this point I would never recommend a Gigabyte MB to anyone. Stay away!!!
