This is definitely an ideal HTPC motherboard. You can get everything you need that's related to high-definition video/audio playback, energy savings and even lightweight level 3D gaming thanks to AMD's fabulous integrated 880G + SB710 chipset and Realtek's ALC892 HD audio chip.

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen City / Poor RMA Communication

Pros: Lots of stuff integrated onto motherboard.

Cons: Not reliable motherboard in my opinion. Used it for about 6 months or so then it just died.

Gigabyte tech keeps telling me that the RAM tests good.

I take RAM from existing known good systems that pass Memtest+86 4.20 - including some that are Gigabyte boards and it fails at 43%. Constant blue screens.

Sent to Gigabyte for RMA and they just send it back to me and say it passes Memtest. I asked for a replacement board directly on my notes on my system configuration sheet they ask you to fill out. This is the second time I sent in the board.

No communication via phone / e-mail or nothing. They just send me the bad board back saying "memtest burning 12 HR OK".

Tell you what, if you say it's my RAM, then sell me the RAM you have on your test bench you used on this motherboard that passes the Memtest+86 bench test and doesn't blue screen my Windows. Because I've tested Kingston HyperX, Crucial, GSkill, and Patriot DDR3 1600 over here from known good machines and they all fail the Memory test and blue screen any Windows install.

No overclocking or anything fancy here. Some of the tested RAM are from machines that have Gigabyte motherboards that memtest fine.

Other Thoughts: First time I've had to use Gigabyte RMA / repair. Mostly their boards have been pretty reliable for me.

This one definitely is not reliable. I am not impressed with Gigabyte RMA / repair department sending me back the board and saying it passed Memtest +86 with a 12 Hour Burn. I will post a video of failure later as proof.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues, over 2yrs

Pros: I bought this for my first build. It is still running my computer now, has been more than 2yrs in service. Never had any real issues. Never installed the utility disk that cam with it. It has done everything I have needed it to do and more.

Cons: I believe the utility disk actually cause some issue I uninstalled it and never had anymore. Again it was over 2years ago cant remember exactly what the issue even was now.

3 out of 5 eggsA good year and a half.

Pros: Solid, easy setup.

Cons: Only 18 month lifespan.

Other Thoughts: I've always been a Gigabyte fan, never had problems, they always make a sturdy and reliable product. I'm disappointed that I only got 18 months out of this board, I'm getting all the same errors as everyone else, No POST, random display drops. Thank you to EVERYONE THAT POSTED THIS so I know it's the mobo and not anything else.

I gave it 3 eggs because when it worked it was great.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulted memory, 2 corrupted hard drives

Pros: Cheap, and I got a great combo deal on the processor

Cons: After about 5 months of use, I booted up one day and I was faced with a corrupted windows partition. So I did a memory test on my ram, found one stick bad(it wasn't DOA, was working for 5 months), replaced with a working stick (figured this was the problem) and continued.

First off, the bios settings for allowing one to set boot priority of CD higher than HD DON'T WORK. I had to manually unplug the hard drive, boot, and then plug back in so that the board would *only* see the windows boot CD.

After that, I was unable to load windows. Tried multiple CD's. It wouldn't let me correctly partition or format the HD from windows screen, so I replaced with confirmed working hard drive.

Didn't work, so I installed linux. Was able to install, but mother board would periodically shut off and corrupt any hard drive I put on it :)

Finally, I gave in and admitted it was the mother board. I used to buy Gigabyte, but now all in all I'm obviously not too happy with the product...

4 out of 5 eggsGets it done

Pros: Stable (so far), clear and simple layout. Used 4x 4GB DIMMS no problem.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Used this with ESXI 4.1 and it has been rock solid for 3 months. 16GB RAM Phenom X6 1055T. Shame it does not support IOMMU, need the FX series or 9xx series for that

3 out of 5 eggstwo boards, same issues

Pros: I bought 2 of these boards elsewhere, about the same price. 4+1 phase voltage regulation, solid caps all around, great feature set, 3 year warranty, board feels solid, not flimsy like some Biostar boards.
Some of the other reviews here sound like they didn't bother with the bios settings or didn't know how.

Cons: The southbridge heat sink was completely loose on both boards. The springs holding it down are too weak. I used artic thermal adhesive to solve this problem.
Driver issues with Easy Tune and the audio.
This board uses Realtek, but I knew that beforehand.
The audio pinouts for the front of the case are placed in a bad position. My case cord could barely reach it and is now stretched across the board.
I'm concerned about the lifespan of this board after reading other reviews, but who knows what they did or didn't do.

Other Thoughts: Win 7 64bit, Phenom 2 840, 8GB GSkill, 1TB Barracuda, CoolerMaster 310 with 3x120mm fans and a Xigmatek 400 watt P/S.
Recommendations: Don't install the Easy Tune utility, update the audio driver from the website. Fix the southbridge heat sink as described above.
In general, I'm not convinced overclocking a micro-atx board with integrated graphics is a good idea.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed and a waste

Pros: well while it worked its was pretty good and worked flawless it was the main focus of my HTPC i loved all the features.....for about 6 months

Cons: after 6 months had nothing but problems with this board, it boot once and said the bios was corrupt and loaded from the backup, a week later it would randomly shut off and then sit at the boot screen and not POST. another time it randomly restarted its self and said there was an error caused by over clocking when its not OC'd. later before it stopped working all together it would freeze and get pixelated graphics while i was watching movies on XBMC then it would never POST. after spending 2 weeks emailing gigabyte back and fourth and them telling me to try things i already tried and i explained that in the emails to them and got no where. so i RMA'd it back to them and all i got was an email saying they recivec it and 2 weeks later got an email saying they sent it back. when it finally arrived there was no note of what was done if anything just a note that said if it wont POST it was an issue with the hardware config....the only hardware used that wasnt the boards was the CPU, RAM, HDD

Other Thoughts: (Con't from cons)
so i pop it in the case set it all up and now part of the screen cant be seen using the HDMI onboard video, and now its randomly restarting again and wont post.

this product and the service i received from Gigabyte has made me very cautious of buying anything from GigaByte again. wasted $90 next one will be a MSI or ASUS.

2 out of 5 eggs1st Gigabyte board ,probably last one

Pros: Nice features on a inexpensive board

Cons: After a few months system would refuse to power up . Thought it was a PSU issue , so bought another and same problem. This was my first Gigabyte board and might be the last , let's see how they do on the RMA process

5 out of 5 eggsNice Micro Board

Pros: Features. Easy setup. Gigabyte micro MB with 4 ram slots and OC ability.

Cons: Does not have enough PCI slots and it does not have the ability to run multiple video cards.

Other Thoughts: $70 was a good price for a MB. I am satisfied with this MB even though it has limited PCI slots, but I knew that when I made the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo for Micro ATX pc

Pros: -Easy to install
-Comes with two blue Serial ATA cables
-Can take AMD Phenom II processor
-Blue appearance

Cons: Can risk from overclocking cpu - that's what I've heard from somewhere else, though.

Other Thoughts: Installed with AMD Phenom II 970 (quadcore 3.5ghz) cpu, 2 x 2gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer (blue LEDs) rams, and XFX ATi Radeon HD 5570 graphic card.

I have this mobo for more than two weeks and had no problem. I have good faith into this mobo.
