5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard, watch what memory you use

Pros: Runs great, very stable so far, ran Prime95/Intel Burn Test/and a few hours of gaming with no issues after the memory issue below was sorted out. Good amount of space for installing components, overall pleased.

Cons: Video card can run a bit close to the SATA ports, at least two of them. This is with our 460 GTX. Other than that, nothing major. The manual is excellent, some skip on explaining what different motherboard options do, not this one.

Other Thoughts: The first 4GB set we got was a Patriot Sector 5 set. After installing Windows we were getting a lot of MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD's. Also we were having issues installing programs, stuff like that. Ran Prime95, and it was failing out saying that returned .5 expected less than .4. Read a bit online, and this RAM seems to be well known in the BSOD world. It would also only run at 1066, even though it was rated for 1333. Took it back, and got a set of Crucial Ballistix PC3 12800 4GB ram, and Prime95 ran without a single fault, no more BSOD's, everything is perfect. Not sure if it was a bad memory, or the memory just doesn't like this Motherboard, but what I found from Google searches seems to show that despite a very attractive rebate on the memory, pay a little more. The Crucial runs at 1333 and has been flawless.

5 out of 5 eggsNice basic board

Pros: Nice layout.
Stable.
Lots of features such as SATA 6, USB 3.
Comes with four SATA cables (including two 90 degree ones).

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: I don't overclock, so I have no input concerning that. My main concern is stability, updated drivers/BIOS from the manufacturer, and a good manual. Gigabyte offered all three. I am very happy with the purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied.

Pros: Works fine, I have my i5 2500k clocked to 4.5GHz and am using 8GB of ram.

Cons: I bought a COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 CPU fan and it overlaps the first memory slot. I am using 4x2GB of memory but if I wanted to upgrade to 16GB, that would not be possible because it will not physically fit.

Other Thoughts: Have not tested USB 3.0.

5 out of 5 eggsRead the Manual

Pros: Board works well. I'm extremely pleased with Gigabytes technical support. Only had to wait 5 minutes and the tech that took the call was very helpful.

Cons: No real cons I guess.

Other Thoughts: Just in case there is anyone else out there like me that hooks things up without reading the manual. OK. And to be honest I still haven't looked at it. But the memory apparently needs to go in the white slot first. Or at least that's what the tech had me do and the board worked fine. Else....it kept power on for a few seconds then off. then on then off by itself. You get the general idea. By simply moving the memory to the white slot...darn thing worked fine. Maybe it's me...but who'd have thunk it. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality Board So Far

Pros: This is a good, solid quality board at a good price (especially now $5 cheaper with free shipping. Seems like I always buy at the wrong time!). Especially if you get the combo with a Sandy Bridge proc. Haven't tried any OC'ing yet, but it should be pretty capable. Everything fits in it well. Ram is a tad close to cpu, especially if you had a big heatsink, but since I only have 4GB, I just used slots 2 & 4. Everything booted up perfectly the first time. NICE!

Cons: This is only my 3rd build and my last one was like 5 years ago, and I wanted to use my old NEC dvd-rw drive, but this thing doesn't have IDE connection, only SATA. (but it does have plenty of them, that and USB) Guess I shoulda looked, but I just figured it would be on there. So I went over budget and went ahead and upgraded to a BD sata drive while I was at it. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: This thing also only has 1 ps/2 keyboard/mouse connection. Again, I wanted to use my old KB and mouse, but had to upgrade that too. Just thought I'd let you know.

3 out of 5 eggsOverclockers Beware!

Pros: CHEAP

Cons: If you intend to overclock, be aware that everyone I've spoken to has noticed that this board has a nasty vdroop that causes crashes at load. Your only solution would be to run a much higher vcore than you would normally need to run even subpar overclocks.

Other Thoughts: Great board for stock clocks and minor overclocking. If you are looking for mid/high range overclocks on your 2500k/2600k CPUs, look elsewhere!

4 out of 5 eggsPreety good, not perfect though

Pros: Reliable, easy to install and well featured for lower end board. Paired with a i7-2600, 8GB Corsair 1333 and GTX 570. Solid, fast performance and quiet at a very reasonable overall price/performance level

Cons: Can be some what quirky when normal boot process is interupted such as updating BIOS, boot device etc. It will power down and reset itself for a coiuple of seconds and reboot. I saw another mention of this at another site. I have upgraded to new alpha 6a code and as long as you follow Gigabytes directions (diasable hyperthreading for example) it will flash easily. Currently running at stock settings.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade from anything less then older i7-9xx will be a very positive thing. Sandy bridge technology works!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 1155 board

Pros: Using with my i5-2400, no OC (could though) but no need as its a server. Using 4 1tb drives in RAID5 with 16gb RAM. No issues what so ever, in fact the RAID5 seems like its running quite a bit faster than on my previous P45 chipset.

Cons: Wish it had more SATA ports, but I knew what it had when buying.
