The GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 design features twice the copper for both the power and ground layers of the PCB, dramatically lowering system temperature by efficiently spreading heat from critical areas of the motherboard (such as the CPU power zone) throughout the entire PCB. GIGABYTE's Ultra Durable 3 also lowers the PCB impedance by 50%, which helps to reduce electrical waste and further lowers component temperatures. A 2x Copper layer design also provides improved signal quality and lower EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), providing better system stability and allowing for greater margins for overclocking.

2 out of 5 eggsRandom shutoff of ports

Pros: The board has a lot of room for expansion, with tons of ports...

Cons: ...and none of that matters because the ports shut off randomly--especially the USB ports, rendering your keyboard, mouse, gamepad, joystick, headset, camera--and pretty much everything else useless. I can't play competitive games because halfway through a round, I have to unplug everything because i lose control of everything, and I also have to unplug and replug my mouse and keyboard upon every startup of the computer.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the money. Glad this is out of stock. Poor quality control, and no support from Gigabyte. I wouldn't be surprised if this model was actually recalled.

5 out of 5 eggsNovice computer Builders Dream

Pros: Very well laid out and labeled. As the title says, this was my first PC i put together. After watching numbers youtube Newegg tutorials I finally had the confidence to do this. This board is excellent for its price.

Cons: There were no cons that I came across when building my computer using this board. Everything went well.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed quickly, no response, from Gigabyte

Pros: None

Cons: Began failing within 2 months, gigabyte never issued RMA after filling out online form, just filled out the RMA form again as system has completely failed. NO ADVANCE EXCHANGE AVAILABLE (if they do ever respond to RMA) guess I'll be without a system for a few weeks..........that's ok, I only do this for living.

Other Thoughts: Onboard LAN failed within the first two months, filled out RMA request but never heard anything. Used PCI NIC as a workaround because I NEED my pc. Worked fine for a while but then the PCI bus began locking up and all my expansion cards ceased functioning until a complete system power off. This problem has remained but now the system is blue screening intermittently. I had always had good luck with GB products in the past, but this IS JUST PLAIN JUNK. RMA process stinks................

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent mobo for price

Pros: Has many wanted features in a mobo that you can ask for with a great price tag

Cons: The ONLY issue I really found was the splash screen... hideous!

Other Thoughts: I don't really use this for gaming, but i wanted a board that was not obsolete, but not super high performance. This mobo will last me for a few years with plenty of room for expansion for what I need it for

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer's Remorse

Pros: The parts that work are great..

Cons: I've been having an issue with this board since I installed it, the USB ports in the back keep randomly resetting rendering my mouse and keyboard among other things completely unusable. I called Gigabyte and got the typical 'did you install all the up to date drivers' etc. -- I had installed a new one that had recently come out at that time. After a few days the same thing started up again at random intervals.

Seeing as at any given time this motherboard may decide to reset the power to the USB ports every 2 seconds indefinitely I'd consider this board useless for anything that has a reliability for basic mouse and keyboard functions.

1 out of 5 eggsMisleading claims of compatibility

Pros: Don't know.

Cons: The info Gigabyte provides for this and other mobos indicates it is compatible with 3rd gen Intel processors (Ivy Bridge) after a BIOS update. What is not made clear--and what I didn't anticipate--is that you can't update the BIOS without first installing a chip it will recognize with its factory settings. So if you're building a system from scratch and don't have a 2nd gen (Sandy Bridge) processor lying about, you won't be able to get a 3rd gen CPU to work unless you send it to Gigabyte or hire a tech to use some special equipment to update the BIOS.

I considered getting a different Gigabyte mobo, but I got frustrated trying to figure out which--if any--would be compatible out of the box. Bought an Intel instead.

Other Thoughts: Might be a nice mobo, but I never had the chance to find out. I found Gigabyte's documentation misleading and confusing.

4 out of 5 eggsWorried About USB 2.0 Crashes.

Pros: Many Features, multitude of I/O, SATA 6Gbps, 2PCI slots.

Cons: Worried about USB 2.0 crashes. Seems to only happen when using long USB cables. Long regular cable will not work reliably. Long cable with repeater works 99% of time, but does crash once in a while. USB 3.0 works great since I upgraded to Etron Bios 112 which I found on a French website.

Other Thoughts: If anyone finds a fix, bios patch, driver, etc. to the USB 2.0 instability, please post a review here to let the rest of us know.

4 out of 5 eggsGood MB. Beware of Ivy Bridge processors

Pros: Good value.

Cons: If you are planning on using a new 3rd generation 22nm Ivy Bridge Intel processor, be careful. My motherboard (purchased 7/2012) had a manufacture date of 3/2011. I had to RMA the MB to get the BIOS updated. Time lost, extra shipping costs incurred.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: This has been a great board. I have had no problems with it what so ever. I used it on my first "ground up" build and it has worked flawlessly since I powered it up. Great BIOS if you ask me and its easy to work with.

Cons: None really.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good board

Pros: First I'd like to start off saying I don't see why a good number of people are hating on this board. At $120 this board is awesome. Comes with o/c support for people that don't know what they are doing. Lots of USB ports for what ever you may need. Worked right out of the box and had good packaging. Great starter board if you are building your first pc get this one it supports the i5's which are great gaming cpus. Install the drivers and you are good to go. The bios isn't bad either, it does what it needs to.

Cons: The heat sinks on the chips seem to be a little lose but that's about it

Other Thoughts: You want a good starter board that supports O/C get this one.
