GIGABYTE Z68 series motherboards provide all the advanced overclocking features users have come to know and love about the GIGABYTE P67 series motherboards including increasing processor core ratios, increasing DDR3 memory ratios and increasing power and current limits. In addition, GIGABYTE Z68 motherboards also allow users to increase the graphics core clock speed, for even greater graphics performance.

  • newegg GIGABYTE Touch BIOS Navigating through the BIOS to change system settings can be a daunting task for users not familiar with control “F” functions and mouse-less navigation. While some EFI BIOS try to address this with a mouse friendly environment, many implementations still lack certain ease-of-use necessary for most people. With GIGABYTE Touch BIOS, GIGABYTE engineers have completely re-imagined how users can interact with their BIOS, allowing for a more intuitive user experience. In fact, with a touch screen monitor, GIGABYTE Touch BIOS is as easy to use as most apps on your iPhone.
  • newegg GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response The GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response utility is a simple application that allows users to quickly and easily configure their system for Intel Smart Response Technology. In the past, enabling Intel Smart Response meant users needed to enter the BIOS in order to configure their system for RAID mode, which then required a complete reinstall of the operating system. Once that processes was complete, users then needed to install the Intel Rapid Storage Utility as well as configure Intel's Smart Response Technology. GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response does all of this automatically, without users having to perform a complicated install process. This allows them to quickly and effortlessly enjoy a significant boost in system performance.
  • newegg Switchable Graphics with LucidLogix Virtu GPU Virtualization GIGABYTE Z68 motherboards are enabled with LucidLogix Virtu GPU Virtualization technology which allows users to dynamically switch between their built-in graphics and their high-end, 3D discrete graphics cards. This is ideal for gamers who require high-resolution gaming and still want to enjoy the built-in media features of 2nd generation Intel Core processors. In so doing, switchable graphics helps to dramatically reduce PC graphics power consumption.
  • newegg 16 Phase Power Design GIGABYTE's cutting edge 16 phase power VRM design utilizes the highest caliber components to provide unadulterated, smooth power to the CPU. The innovative 16 phase power VRM has been designed and engineered to deliver fast transient response times through quick and seamless power delivery during extensive CPU loading variations. In addition, heat from the VRM is effectively reduced by spreading the load between the 16 power phases, resulting in a cooler, more stable platform.
  • newegg Multi-GPU support with CrossFireX and SLI Flexible graphics capabilities supported for either CrossFireX or SLI action, delivering the ultimate in graphics performance for gaming enthusiasts who demand the highest frame rates without compromising on resolution.
  • newegg Ultra Durable 3 The GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 design features twice the copper for both the power and ground layers of the PCB, dramatically lowering system temperature by efficiently spreading heat from critical areas of the motherboard (such as the CPU power zone) throughout the entire PCB. GIGABYTE's Ultra Durable 3 also lowers the PCB impedance by 50%, which helps to reduce electrical waste and further lowers component temperatures. A 2x Copper layer design also provides improved signal quality and lower EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), providing better system stability and allowing for greater margins for overclocking.

2 out of 5 eggsBoard just died

Pros: Easy install, no surprises. I've built so many machines I've lost count, but this is a typical GB mobo that fits nicely with other hardware, boots up immediately and delivers the expected performance.

Cons: Board just died, and Gigabyte told me it had bent pins and wouldn't reimburse, because that's not covered.

Other Thoughts: After doing the usual research and comparison shopping for a mobo that would do my i5-2500k justice, I landed yet again with GB. Board was ok. Easy install, etc. Never O/C'd it. Then one day 1-1/2 yrs later, it did three consecutive 1/2 boots, then died. Like no power was getting to it. Tested the PS in another machine, fine. Sent the board to GB, and they sid there were broken pins and needed $45 to continue the RMA. I get it, noob breaks pins, needs another board, GB goes broke. But the board worked for over a year! Wut up? They wouldn't budge. And, won't send the board back as is. Done with GB, done, done, done!

2 out of 5 eggsBuy At Your Own RISK!

Pros: Worked for a while....

Cons: This board has frustrated me to no end! I got the 'Boot-Loop' issue that this board is known-for and cannot get it back working correctly; I EVEN RMAed it and it worked for like 30 minutes before going back to the same Boot-Loop issues.

I am IT Professional and I have troubleshooted this board beyond what should be necessary; seriously, I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING (again, I even RMA'ed the thing). Gigabyte seriously needs to just cancel this line of it's motherboards.

I don't know what else to do except buy a new board....and the Gigabyte brand doesn't look like it's going to make the cut!

4 out of 5 eggsNo problem at all

Pros: Good overall placement of connectors, goes well with SLI and one additional PCIe and PCI2.0 card. Had 7 months non-stop running until I hit SSD firmware issue.

Setting this mobo for server usage when I upgrade to new one, has good overall connectivity on IO backplate.

Cons: The PCIe card is cooking pretty nicely
Doesn't come with IDE for old disk, had to buy addon card

Other Thoughts: Intel Core I7-2500k
Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB 1600MHz
Crucial M4 64GB SSD (another 128GB soon)
WD 320GB
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty PCIe
EVGA GTX-570 Doubleshot

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I had this same model of board for 1 year before failing. I guess the fact I had it for a year before it failed is a pro.

Cons: This is the 2nd of this exact board I've bought. The first board failed after 1 year (non-bios boot loop). This board experienced the exact same problem out of the box. I've breadboarded the mobo with a proven PSU and the problem persists.

5 out of 5 eggsOatman

Pros: This was the best MOBO purchase I've ever bought... Absolutely fantastic, it even has the option to run UEFI Bios if you flash it from Gigabyte's website. Also its a great MOBO to run Mountain Lion on :P

Cons: There is an issue where the keyboard and mouse does not work with the standard BIOS, if you flash it to the new UEFI bios this bug goes away.

1 out of 5 eggsDispleased

Pros: Good features, looks nice

Cons: Doesn't work correctly ever since it was new. I can overlook this and inconvenience myself as well as pay for shipping to RMA an item, but they sent the same board back to me and it still doesn't work. That's about the point where I stop buying your entire brand.

Other Thoughts: They could've fixed the problem but they opted to be cheap and not bother to fix a genuine problem.

1 out of 5 eggsThe worst motherboard I have ever owned

Pros: It would have to work to receive pros.

Cons: Continuous, ending, and frustrating boot loop issues, freeze errors from supposedly incorrect voltage settings, USB always on cannot be disabled, RAID setup does not work, most USB keyboards are 50/50 for response at boot or any time pre-OS load, board only quasi-supports PCI-E 3.0, most of the features are inoperative or reset/defaulted by the boot loop issue.

This board may or may not work for some undefined, albeit short, period of time, but once it starts to go south it does it in a big way. Continuous boot loop errors or "overclock/incorrect voltage" errors continue to crop up for me despite the fact that I'm using default settings and the CPU is always running at a cool 28c with an extreme CPU cooler.

The errors further frustrate matters by constantly resetting the BIOS settings.

This is by far the worst motherboard I have ever owned in my 20+ years of computing.

I will never buy anything with the name Gigabyte (or future name changes) ever again.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this thing like the plague. It's overpriced garbage. You can do better. Much better.

2 out of 5 eggsLots of trouble

Pros: Beautiful motherboard with a lot of potential and extremely appetizing features (especially if the price point is right). The features and relatively clean bill of health for the manufacturer, Gigabyte, drew me to this product. USB3.0/always on, Marvell RAID, variety of onboard inputs, HD audio, easily programmed overclocking, extreme EFI compatibility (for those considering a hackintosh), etc.

Cons: Unreliable. This system does what it wants. I assembled everything and it posted fine, but it has a tendency to boot loop and any type of fidgeting with the overclocking settings freezes it up and creates a whole host of problems. I can't find anywhere to disable USB always on. The manufacturer claims PCI-E 3.0 compatibility, but I have not been able to test that because I do not have an ivy bridge chipset. However, if you do some research many question this "advertised" feature.

Long story short, even if you setup everything right on your end, and I've been doing it for nearly 20 years, you cannot depend on this board to deliver.

Other Thoughts: i5 2500k + Coolermaster Hyper 212 CPU cooler

1 out of 5 eggsBad Motherboard

Pros: Looks good...

Cons: Doesn't work.... I've tried everything! Re-seating everything, running the minimum, replacing the power supply (this is the common scapegoat), and the system continue to not post and reboots at the first sign of the bios. This is very frustrating!!! I pray that they come to their senses and either replace the MB or refund my money so I can purchase another...

Other Thoughts: 18% unsatisfactory comments should be very disconcerting for the consumer and the manufacturer!!!
