3 out of 5 eggsfailed after 1.5yr

Pros: I have liked the Gigabyte brand for many years as it is often in the mid-range of price/performance. I have probably purchased more than 20 Gigabyte boards with no issue to report.
This system worked well for about a year and a half.

Cons: It now will not boot; fans spinning, but no post, & no raster

I cleared cmos, and removed the board from the case. Same result. no boot, no raster, yet fans running. Visual observation finds no obvious damage. I did have the power go out a few days ago. The system was connected to a ups.

Other Thoughts: while reading the reviews, it seems there are a few tweaks that may have avoided this problem.

I am now in the rma process with Gigabyte

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent paired with A6-3500

Pros: Seems very stable and runs fast with AMD A6-3500 CPU and Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8G Memory.

Cons: I had to use a PS2 Keyboard and Mouse after installing OEM Windows 7 until I could get the drivers for the Motherboard loaded.

Other Thoughts: Considering the price, I recommend this system for regular workstation use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Game MoBo

Pros: Great solid board, nice bios interface, passed the summer test (no central ac)

Cons: nothing, you get what you paid for.

Other Thoughts: OK, to all the looking buyers reading this, put in mind that 50% of us actually leave feedback may it be positive or negative, and half of that 50% think they know **** about computers, so when we read about product not working and RMA this and that, please don't believe it's the item but realize it may be the "user" not doing it right. Example: There are a few comments about this board locking up, happened to me after fresh SSD OS install, unplugged everything but keyboard and monitor, no problems, then started plugging everything else one at a time, figured out it was my USB HUB (old 2.0) plugged in a 3.0 port causing the lockup, changed it to the 2.0 (red) port and starts up like butter (under 10s), the issue is the 3.0 ports scan for any boot sectors in case someone wants to boot from external drive, since my usb hub is 1337 it was conflicting with the controller board.

1 out of 5 eggsBad CPU Fan Header...

Pros: N/A

Cons: Bad CPU fan header, so the board is not usable. Unfortunatley, I cannot RMA the board back to Newegg, since I purchased the board more than 30 days ago.

I was hoping to RMA the board back for a refund and use the funds to put towards an AMD A-10 Trinity CPU/board combo in a couple of months, but since the RMA period has passed, that won't happen.

I'll just line the bottom of my cat's litter box with the board at this point to get some use out of it.

Other Thoughts: Not really bitter or anything...I've purchased tons of stuff (including Gigabyte stuff) from Newegg and this is the first item I've had issues with.

4 out of 5 eggsOk

Pros: It works stable. Runs cool and no problems with beta bios. Play with bios settings and you will be amazed at what can be accomplished.
I honestly like this board.

Cons: The hybrid crossfire refuses to work with any and all catalyst drivers. I spent 10+ hours screwing with setting's on this board and I got the infamous lockup. But what you do is disable cool and quiet and also the auto clocking through the bios and it won't lockup. The crossfire didn't work for me but that's alright. Tried it with 4 models that are approved with the apu to no avail.

1 out of 5 eggsSame Problems as Others, Avoid This Board!

Pros: It is cheap compared to other similar boards from other manufacturers. It is also a full-size ATX board (though it does not use a full 3rd row of stand-offs, see below). Leaves plenty of room between hard drive cage and connections on the board (SATA, Fan headers, etc) for use in smaller ATX cases. Has a TON of fan headers, so if you don't have a controller this board will suit you.

Cons: This board was deceptive. It started out fine. I did not upgrade the BIOS out of box as it was already one of the more recent revisions and I did not need the features provided by the beta bios (which was the last bios available, which made me worried right away).

I burned this machine in using a modest game running for 48 straight hours. Also ran CPUKiller and the FuzzyDonut test to stress the APU. All seemed fine.

After I dropped this off at the customers house, they reported it locked up once on them a few hours after I left but was ok the rest of the day after that. I was already worried because a brand new build should not lock up even once.

It then only escalated from there, locking up more and more frequently until it would lock up after only a few minutes of being in Windows. After reading a bit further online, this board has major problems with random lockups.

Luckily this all happened inside 30 days, and Newegg is AWESOME and issued me a refund RMA.

Other Thoughts: So in conclusion, AVOID THIS BOARD AT ALL COSTS! I am always skeptical of negative reviews on parts since more often than not people will report issues rather than "ALL GOOD!" reviews. But in this case it is not all smoke and no fire. This thing is seriously flawed.

After the RMA was sent off, I ordered an ASUS board and this computer has been rock solid since then. This was, unfortunately, my first try with Gigabyte. I gotta say I am not even considering getting another board from them in the future because of this. Has been a long time since I had a bad ASUS board out of box. Maybe I'm just lucky? Thankfully Newegg is awesome and accepts returns for refund. As someone who builds dozens of machines a year, I can't afford to deal with boards like this one, and I doubt you will want to gamble on it like I did.
