5 out of 5 eggsGood board for the price

Pros: Bios interface is easy to use, also made overclocking easy althouth i am not planning to use it to overclock anything.

Cons: The manual doesn't contain any useful information, if you don't know a lot about motherboards, you need to go on internet to find the manual.

Other Thoughts: The Norton provided in the driver DVD is pretty nice and I am using this motherboard right now to wright the review.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty sweet lil' motherboard

Pros: Didn't even read the manual and I installed everything onto the board without any problems. The BIOS is really user friendly and easy to use.

Cons: No problems at all, but it took me a while to figure out how to detach the PCI-E Graphics card.

Other Thoughts: It lacks Sata 6.0gb but for the price it's tood enough

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard at a great price.

Pros: Great motherboard at a great price. It may not have 4 DIMM slots but for the price this is tough to beat. Ports seem to be in convenient spaces and everything operates as expected.

Cons: The ethernet driver was not on my standard Win 7 install so I had to get that installed before getting Windows online for all the standard update. That said Linux Mint picked it up just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Minimal Board

Pros: Obviously it's very cheap. Reliable. It's cute and tiny. Got mine on sale for 32 dollars before mail in rebate.

Cons: Not many bells and whistles. Very standard but that's okay because it's not 200 dollars. Maybe that there is no dvi or hdmi if you plan on using Intel HD graphics.

Other Thoughts: I had to upgrade my cpu because my old one was bottle necking my gpu. Didn't have much money and needed a board that supported 2nd gen intel processors and I snagged this one. This board has really good potential. I have an ivy bridge 3470 i5, HIS Radeon 2gb 6950, and 8Gb of ddr3 RAM. It still games great despite my card being a couple generations out of date. There actually isn't much board left with it populated. Everything is all centralized and the gpu hangs of the board a good ways. It actually looks really clean with everything being tight. It's not too tight though. There's enough room between the cpu and gpu. About 2 and a half inches.

5 out of 5 eggsgood price good quality

Pros: Has all the things I like from the bigger cards ($$$). ie. -twice the copper -pci express 3.0 -FSB... or whatever the kids are calling it these days +++ good -oh yeah, Price is nice!

Cons: Missing one little connector, usb3.0, which is only my fault for not carefully inspecting the specs.

Other Thoughts: I made a ground up build for a cheap and fast PC. with SSD, I'm getting a boot time of 15-30 seconds. on board video card saved a little more money since I was building a fast machine for business use.
My first build was 5 years ago, I used gigabyte MoBo, I liked how user friendly they were, so now I'm just hooked on GB Tech. In fact I'm typing this review on the first Monster PC I built. UDR3 mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For LINUX & Live LINUX DVD Booting

Pros: I had a spare case, spare Intel i3 Sandy, and spare power supply lying around doing nothing. Yet the computer I used online was AMD based and super slow 2007 vintage. I was stuck using an old Linux version because the recont Linux distros (most) will not work right with it, there's always some quirk, whether a major one or minor one. I needed to put the i3 to use, having tested newer Linux versions on Intel chips. Linux from my experience always works best with Intel chips, and especially the i3, i5, and i7. However I've had trouble with AMD and Linux.

Using the above mentioned spare parts, I spent $100 for three more things: This cheap Gigabyte mother board ($40), which I'm reviewing here, a SKILL 4GB memory card, and an ASUS DVD drive (I had to buy the DVD drive even though I had a spare one, but the spare used old style parallel ATA so it gets donated to used computer shop).

Timewise it took about an hour and a half to put the computer together. I don't have a hard drive connected nor do I intend to connect one for most use of this computer. I put in a Linux Mint 16 live boot DVD and it booted right up without having to enter UFEI to change any settings. To date I still haven't gone into the UFEI to mess with settings.

This is the fastest online computer I've ever used, it flies, and I run only from a live boot DVD! I don't even have a hard drive connected.

For the money, you can't beat this board. I say if you can still get it and need something for patching together a computer from used parts, get this board, just make sure it works with your version of CPU.

Cons: I tried two times to find helpful documentation that applies to actually hooking up things to the motherboard. I looked on the supplied disc and also on the Gigabyte website. Nevertheless, there's no real need for it because this is a minimalist board, sort of like a low-fare expressway to a stated destination, so there are very few options for plugging things in, so it's next to impossible to make a mistake when plugging up connectors and memory card. I just pluged the memory card into the first slot. It all worked at first start up.

Other than the above "con", how can anyone compain about a board that just simply works, without having to even mess with UFEI settings, and runs Linux Mint 16 live DVD screaming fast.

Overall the lack of documentation is moot because I have absolutely no real complains about such a cheap board that so far works fantastic. As the old saying goes, don't look a (virtually) free horse in the mouth.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte, if you're reading this, make an updated version that works with the newer generation Intel chips.

1 out of 5 eggsRandom resets

Pros: Good price

Cons: Randomly resets, with no rhyme or reason. Issue popped up when I upgraded to this motherboard paired with an i5-3350p CPU.

The resets are random and do not relate to the CPU load or temperature. This problem is very reminiscent to one I had years ago involving a motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Not every board can be perfect, mistakes happen. It's just a bummer to have to return it and get a new one, which ill be doing later this week, ill leave another comment relating to the new board for any prospective buyers. I'm sure I just got unlucky

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your comments. We apologize for your difficulty with your GIGABYTE product. Please contact us at with the case number 107142 in the e-mail subject line. 1. Be sure to have the latest motherboard Bios to support the CPU.

2. Check the CPU temperature in the Bios to make sure it's under the CPU specification, normally it should be around 45-50C.

3. Inspect the CPU and/or CPU socket to for bent or broken pins.

4. If the machine is overclocked, undo the overclock to verify whether the lockup or freeze still occurs.

5. Test each memory modules, one at a time to ensure each memory stick can function properly.

6. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate hardware compatibility.

7. Check the Bios version to ensure it's the latest Bios. Backup all your data before trying to update the Bios.

9. Check for loose power cable/data cable on the storage devices such as hard disk drives, SSD drives, external USB drive, USB thumb drive from the PC.

10. If you have a spare drive available for testing, disconnect the current drive and perform a new /clean windows installation along with the required drivers to rule out software related possibility.
