2x Copper PCB

GIGABYTE's exclusive 2X Copper PCBs design provides sufficient power trace paths between components to handle greater-than-normal power loads and to remove heat from the critical CPU power delivery area. This is essential to ensure the motherboard is able to handle the increased power loading that is necessary when overclocking.

High ESD Protection for USB and LAN

GIGABYTE Motherboards raise the bar in terms of protecting your system, providing advanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for both your Ethernet LAN and USB ports, both common sources of ESD-related failures. Each LAN and USB port is paired with a dedicated protection filter that can withstand high electrostatic discharges, protecting your system from common electrical surges and even direct lighting strikes.

On/Off Charge Technology

GIGABYTE On/Off Charge technology allows you to charge your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch regardless of whether your PC is on, in standby mode or even off. A derivative of GIGABYTE's highly acclaimed 3x USB Power feature, On/Off Charge enables devices to draw more current from GIGABYTE motherboard USB ports than standard USB ports allow, so that charging from your PC can be as fast as with a charger.

ErP Lot 6 support

The ErP (also known as Energy-Related Products Directive) is part of the European Union's environmental regulations policy. It is based on concern for the environmental as the proliferation of electronic devices continues, and how to improve energy efficiency for a better and greener life. GIGABYTE supports ErP and produces motherboards that help you effectively improve system efficiency.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, after a bios update

Pros: Works well ,Black and ref finish, 2 front usb 3.0 headers, durable build quality.

Cons: Sub par bios, did not work out of the box with the Athlon x4 860K, had to use a 750k to update the board to the f6 bios (ships with f4 bios)

5 out of 5 eggsBought at Xmas

Pros: Great motherboard
OC's well.
RAM Overclocking is stellar. Clocks past all declared ratings by gigabyte (on air) which are probably outdated since release.
No cons other than sound from the G1 board.
The sound on this board tho cheap is just as good as most board on-board sound if not better.
Gain in SATA and USB when skipping on the G1
( In case you were wondering what you gain from G1)
Supports classic boot modes on 1 and 7 SATA plugs
(if i remember correctly)

Cons: A bios full of double entry's and 90s style.
Mouse support in bios is buggy.
Fast boot is not consistent with some SATA drives.
Why i m not sure, not that it matters cause boot is fast on SSDS

Other Thoughts: Could have come with ONE USB3 dongle. Of the 2 things it comes with they could have added it. Its cheap and literally cost them nothing. I wish the bios was better. i mean i LOVE old style bios over the new hyper styled c.r.a.p. but it doesn't mean it has to LOOK like its from the 90s. gigabyte has totally gone cheap in this respect.

2 out of 5 eggsCan't use 6 of the 7 pci slots. Lots of errors and BSOD

Pros: Great price-point
Looks great
On board power and reset button
3 16x PCIe slots
3 1x PCIe slots

Cons: Bad_Pool_Header errors.
NTFS_File system errors.

The board has 3 PCIe 16x slots and 3 PCIe 1x slots. I need to be able to use these slots but I can't.

After receiving the board I installed all the components I needed to be able to use this system. Fired everything up and installed Windows 8.1. Upon successful install I loaded into windows and started installing drivers. I get all my basic drivers installed and the machine works great. Now install my PCI devices. Boot the machine up and windows starts installing drivers. I checked the drivers installed against the latest ones found on the Manufactures website and everything was good. Upon a restart the computer freezes on loading windows and gives me a BSOD saying Bad_Pool_Header.

I research the Bad_Pool_Header and start to trouble shoot. I update my drivers to latest manufacture ones. One by one I test my cards. Everything checks out fine. No single device creates an error. So then I try booting with multiple devices installed. Up to 4 PCI devices without error. Add the 5th one and I get a Bad_Pool_Header. With 6 devices I get the Bad_Pool_Header BSOD.

One site suggested doing a "System Refresh" through the BSOD options. With all 6 devices installed I can refresh the system and boot into windows. All devices function at this time. Everything works! Right up until I reboot the machine. The first error that pops up is a NTFS_File system error followed be a restart and then the Bad_Pool_Header errors.

I'm only using 1x across all slots. I've spent days trouble shooting this board. I've swapped out parts with a good machine that I know works. I've even disabled all non-essential devices in the BIOS. So far nothing I do works to fix the problem.

Other Thoughts: As long as you have no need for the 6 slots you'll be fine.

3 out of 5 eggsNot suitable for mining

Pros: Cheap with comprehensive BIOS

Cons: Won't recognize more than four cards without a lot of fiddling or shorting the PCI-e presence pins

Other Thoughts: I mined with this board with two cards in it for months without a problem, but as soon as I wanted to add three more the problems began and as a result now the rig is nearly unusable because it is constantly rebooting and crashing.

Using five 290s with powered ribbon 1X-16X risers, you won't get any more than four cards working without shorting the presence pins on the 4th pcie slot (middle one).

Considering the ASRock mining board is half the price and is much more stable than this, I would consider another mobo.

A friend bought a A88X-UP4 and his was DOA due to a bad bios.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board with attractive color scheme

Pros: Quality Components
Tons of connections (6 PCI-E, 7 SATA, 2 USB 3.0 Headers, eSATA, every kind of display ports)
Attractive but subdued color scheme

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you are an enthusiast, this is going to be the best bang for the buck motherboard you can buy for the FM2+ platform. I've bought several different brands of motherboards through the years. Recently, I've been really happy with Gigabyte motherboards due to the quality construction and thoughtful design. I bought two of these recently for a couple of builds and everything went smoothly as usual. The 2nd one I got already had the latest BIOS so if you buy one now, you shouldn't have any issues with Kevari compatibility.

Gigabyte consistently uses quality components on the board which means this board should be reliable. They've packed the board with tons of useful and thoughtful features which makes it perfect for an enthusiast. The LED debug indicator and the built in power button is immensely useful when testing or troubleshooting. It may seem like an unnecessary feature, but if you ever have to use it, you'll never want another board without them. They've also built in almost every kind of connection that you can dream of and it has tons of them (6 PCI-E slots, 7 SATA ports, and 2 USB 3.0 headers).

Another plus with this board is that it has a really attractive and clean color scheme. I like that the board is mainly black and has black PCI-e Slots, but with just a couple of red highlights. There are no clashing of colors or distractingly huge logos on this board.

The only critique for this board is that it does not have the latest audio chipset. However, it won't make any difference for 99% of people because the one it has is perfectly fine. If you have a really high end audio setup, you'll probably want a dedicated sound card anyway, so it's pretty much a non-issue.

I'm very happy with both of these boards that I got, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

2 out of 5 eggsGA-F2A88X-UP4 motherboard

Pros: A88X chipset, USB 3, SATA 3, socket FM2+, on-board Post code display, UEFI bios,

Cons: didn't work but 1 week

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a replacement for a Gigabyte Sniper board that went bad. This board installed nice, but failed after aprox 1week. Board powered up but wouldn't Post. Tried to get the Post codes from Gigabyte's site, but they weren't much help. Still don't have the Post codes several weeks later! The Corsair power supply may have been the cause of failure. Won't buy another one of those... Took a chance and got another GA-F2A88X-UP4 motherboard ( 3rd one in less than a month) and a different power supply. New system seems to be working well so far, at last! Biggest gripe now is that it cost me $42 to return the previous boards and power supplies. Since these were all new parts that failed, I feel that Gigabyte should reimburse at least half the return shipping costs. Will update the status of my system in a month or so.

5 out of 5 eggsI have got it right finally! Yes!!

Pros: The board came with the right bios for the new Kaveri APU!
The power consumption is reduced and response is fast. I am good to go for the future. This board looks real nice in the Corsair 540 Air! The board arrived over night, was well packed and I am still a happy camper!

Cons: The learning curve took a little bit of effort as the boards inputs for mouse, keyboard and other USB 2.0 devises was moved to a new lower position and placing them in the more normal top USB 3.0 ports is not supported while configuring the bios an installing Win7. The dogs chewed up my speaker wires making installation of the H100i link software impossible!

Other Thoughts: Now that all of that has been handled I am really happy with this new build. I am basically building a graphics workstation for my wife's use of the Adobe Suite. Next step is a Raid 10 array for storage of her work and resource files. I am thinking of 4 x1 TB Velociraptors because the SSD's cost way to much!

1 out of 5 eggsWouldn't work with latest FM2+ / Kaveri

Pros: - great color(mostly black and red)
- good layout
- lots of ports
- budget price

Cons: Not usable for Kaveri based APU's (despite being FM2+) unless you
- Have older APU's to temporarily pop-in and upgrade BIOS
- Are comfortable pulling out bios chip and have a PLCC flash writer lying around

Other Thoughts: So looks good has lots of ports and I am still unhappy !
Well .. ahem ... it doesn't work and apparently would not work.
It ships with an older BIOS that won't work for Kaveri APU's. Sure, they have a new BIOS on their site ready for download and there's three ways to upgrade your BIOS.
BUT you can't get into BIOS without a supported CPU in the socket.
So, I need to buy an older APU to even get into BIOS to upgrade it.
Customer Support - Logged a ticket on their support portal will wait a few days (Chinese new year holidays) to hear what they have to say before returning this.

Manufacturer Response:
