GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™ 4 Plus

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™ 4 Plus debuts on GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards, with a range of features and component choices that provide record-breaking performance, cool and efficient operation and extended motherboard lifespan.

Ultra Performance

GIGABYTE uses All Solid Caps (Capacitors) and Low RDS (on) MOSFETs which are rated to work at higher temperatures to provide a longer lifespan.

Ultra Safe

GIGABYTE motherboards feature GIGABYTE DualBIOS™, an exclusive technology from GIGABYTE that protects arguably one of your PC's most crucial components, the BIOS. GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ means that your motherboard has both a "Main BIOS" and a "Backup BIOS," making users protected from BIOS failure due to virus attack, hardware malfunction, improper OC settings or power failure during the update process.

Humidity Protection

Humidity can play havoc on a motherboard's circuitry.GIGABYTE's new Glass Fabric PCB design helps protect against electrical shorts due to humidity by reducing the gaps in spacing between PCB filaments.

Power Failure Protection

GIGABYTE also uses Anti-Surge ICs to protect the motherboard against power surges.

Electrostatic Protection

GIGABYTE motherboards feature High Resistance ICs which help protect the motherboard against electrostatic discharge.

High ESD Protection for USB and LAN (USB 3.0 Only)

GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards raise the bar in terms of protecting your system, providing advanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for both your Ethernet LAN and USB ports, both common sources of ESD-related failures. Each LAN and USB port is paired with a dedicated protection filter that can withstand high electrostatic discharges, protecting your system from common electrical surges and even direct lighting strikes.

One Fuse per USB Port (USB 3.0 Only)

On GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards each USB port has its own dedicated power fuse that prevents unwanted USB port failure, helping to safe guard your important data during transfer

4K Ultra HD Support

4K resolution is the next technological milestone in high-definition content delivery, utilizing approximately 4,000 pixels on the horizontal axis, more than four times today's standard HD pixel density. GIGABYTE 8 series motherboards provide native 4K support with integrated Intel® HD Graphics via HDMI.

HDMI™ - The Next Generation Multimedia Interface

HDMI™ is a High-Definition Multimedia Interface which provides up to 5Gbps video transmitting bandwidth and 8-channel high quality audio all through a single cable. Able to transmit superior, uncompressed digital video and audio, HDMI™ ensures the crispest rendering of digital content up to 1080p without the quality losses associated with analog interfaces and their digital-to-analog conversion. In addition, HDMI™ is compatible with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), allowing the playback of Blu-ray/HD DVD and other protected media content.

DVI Support

DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is a video interface standard designed for carrying uncompressed digital video data and to maximize the visual quality of digital display devices, such as LCD monitors, digital projectors, and so on. In addition, the DVI interface is compatible with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

On/Off Charge Technology

GIGABYTE On/Off Charge technology allows you to charge your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch regardless of whether your PC is on, in standby mode or even off. A derivative of GIGABYTE's highly acclaimed 3X USB Power feature, On/Off Charge enables devices to draw more current from GIGABYTE motherboard USB ports than standard USB ports allow, so that charging from your PC can be as fast as with a charger.

LAN Optimizer - Intelligent Optimization Network Management Tool

GIGABYTE LAN Optimizer is designed to allow the user to manage different types of network traffic so that data streams such as HD media, web browsing or online gaming can be prioritized, taking precedence over large data downloads that tend to strangle overall network bandwidth.

GIGABYTE App Center gives you easy access to wealth of GIGABYTE apps that help you get the most from your GIGABYTE motherboard. Using a simple, unified user interface, GIGABYTE App Center allows you to launch all GIGABYTE apps installed on your system.

GIGABYTE Smart Fan 2 allows you to configure CPU fans and system fans.

The new and updated GIGABYTE @BIOS app allows you to update your system's BIOS from within Windows using a simple and slick graphical user interface by automatically downloading the latest version from the GIGABYTE servers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value for basic LGA1150

Pros: Small Size footprint.
Has enough basics to upgrade the wife's PC to a more modern CPU and RAM without paying for extras that will sit empty anyway.

Cons: None so far - 7 weeks since install and runs without a hitch. No freezes, no issues at all.

Other Thoughts: Wife's PC upgrade. This with an i3, a pair of Ripjaws for 8Gig and a basic SSD and she's happy with the new speed.
She watches occasional video, web browsing and email. Nothing high-end and no 3D gaming at all. It handles Tetris just fine :-)
I cannot see paying for extra USB 3.0 ports when she'll never use them. Extra 2 RAM slots when 8Gig is more than she will ever maxout or extra SATA3 ports when she will never need more than one SSD and a DVD player.
For a non-gaming or non-video editing PC this board fits the bill in options and in price point.

3 out of 5 eggsGIGABYTE GA-H81M-HD2

Pros: I had this MB for months now its not so bad considering its a 3 egg rating i usually buy 4 egg rating or above but so far this MB is ok.

Cons: it sometimes doesn't shut down when I shut it down but its not that bad but I don't like how it doesn't have a USB 3.0 connector so i can't use the 3.0 ports on my case but other than that its not that bad i suggest this MB be fore cases with no USB 3.0 on em.

Other Thoughts: its a decent MB it works well.

1 out of 5 eggsI think I got a bad batch...

Pros: Easy to work with. Fast assemble process. It is what it is and you get what you pay for.

Cons: First is the lack of fan inputs for me. I've only had it for a day so I can't really say much, but there's also something wrong with it not turning off when I shut it down. I won't have a problem if I just directly power off my powersupply (which is kinda a bad thing on the long run), but it would really be an inconvenience. I tried updating drivers and kept changing the switch connectors, but nothing worked. If anyone can give an advice, please help!

Other Thoughts: If it worked fine, it would've been a 4 or 5 stars. I don't want to return it because all I will get back is $20 bucks. I can get $10 with the rebate. Not really worth to return it tbh.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA product, bad gigabyte rma service

Pros: low price, reasonable features

Cons: DoA on initial breadboarding test with CPU/fan only, with known good G3220 CPU and PSU. no fans, no beeps, no nothing. gigabyte won't pay shipping for repair/replacement.

Other Thoughts: rebated, so i can't return through newegg. working on RMAing, but here's my issue: gigabyte refuses to even consider paying for shipping it to them for repair. so, i'd need to pay ~$xx shipping myself to *maybe* repair a $yy (AR) MB, with who knows how much delay.

rma rep claimed that it is 'industry standard practice' to not pay both ways shipping since the board was 'out of their control' after shipping. sure, that somewhat makes sense.

but, since i did nothing except a basic test and some troubleshooting, and i'm an experienced system builder, *and* i'd be willing to pay shipping/repairs if they somehow determined i was at fault (admittedly a tricky issue itself), i was hoping for some flexibility on the shipping policy. i also mentioned there are other reviews of people getting DoA boards of this model -- it certainly does happen with a (perhaps unreasonable) frequency.

i made it clear to gigabyte that it was their option to pay for shipping and have a tolerant/happy-ish customer, or not pay and have an unhappy customer and negative reviews. the rma support guy said he couldn't possibly offer to pay and that i had there was no one i could talk to who could. so here we are.

way to stand behind your products and respect your customers, gigabyte!

in contrast, i had a similar issue with an ASUS H81-A -- after making similar arguments, they paid for shipping both ways *and* cross-shipped a replacement (since i needed a working board quickly at that time). that system has been up and working well for some time now.

4 out of 5 eggsDefault USB XHCI Setting Needed Change

Pros: Smallest micro-ATX board I've ever owned! Looked almost like mini ITX size. Shipped with recent F5 BIOS, works fine with Pentium G3250. Rebate processed quickly using express option (they charged $1). Many excellent features at value pricing. Very flexible configuration options.

Cons: All seemed well but found Windows 7 would not shut down with Brother MFC attached by USB. Later discovered BIOS setting for XHCI mode. Changed it from "Smart Auto" to "Enabled". Problem solved after hours of testing many adjustments and wrongly blaming the printer drivers.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte boards with traditional Dual BIOS are easy to manage, configure, and test both BIOS. UEFI Dual BIOS is not documented, and marketed as an automatic recovery function only. Still nice to have this feature!

5 out of 5 eggsFirst build

Pros: Put this in an old Dell Inspiron 530 case with an intelG3258 and 2x4 GB Corsair vengeance RAM. I used the existing PSU, DVD and HDD, running on Linux Mint 17.1. I had to Dremel out the existing I/O panel to fit the Gigabyte panel and space up one freestanding corner of the MB. I put the side panel on, pushed the on button and it's been running ever since. Nice HTPC.

Cons: Can't think of any. Had to make some case mods, but I figured that going in.

Other Thoughts: If you're considering this, stop! Just do it. Yeah, I,m happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Overlook It

Pros: Meets all specs and runs trouble-free. Value price tag. Good lay-out and decent good looks.

Cons: No cons: it's what it is. If you need more RAM slots or SATA ports that is understandable, but don't disrespect this board because of it.

Other Thoughts: Built with Pentium G3250 Haswell at 3.2GHz and 8GB CORSAIR Vengeance DDR3 1600 (Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9B) and life is good.
Price was 30% less when I bought, but it is still reasonable.

4 out of 5 eggsSemi-Bargain Worked Out

Pros: *Good Layout on SATA Ports
*PS/2 Connections
*3 Video Ports Out
*No BIOS Update Needed

Cons: *Only 4 USB Rear Ports

Other Thoughts: Ordered this as a bundle with Pentium G3258. Loved that it was ten bucks shy of a C-note. 1st board received, audio went out after a week's time. PCI-e x16 slot never seemed to work on that board.

RMA'd to NewEgg, kudos to their service. They paid return shipping since it was within 30 days.

Using stock cooler, temps never got above 54C when used for light gaming. Added a used Gigabyte HD 7790 card and very pleased with energy usage. Most of the time, am seeing it under 100 watts, not counting monitor(s). Single stick of 4GB Ripjaws X is the RAM being used. EVGA 500B PSU is the power source.

I would buy again at half a C-note to pair with any 1150 socket processor. Not sure I would recommend since first board was problematic, unless someone doesn't mind working through the returns process.

I am greatly satisfied with this build. Also using this for HTPC with a current dual monitor setup and Bluetooth speaker with axillary stereo cable or over-ear headphones for privacy.

5 out of 5 eggsLove Love Love

Pros: Fast Boot, Responsive Tiered Sleep (sleep, auto shut off), price

Cons: Only one sys fan header

Other Thoughts: I got two of these with G3258 combo $99 total, and it is fast in very way. I bought an ECS H87H3-M3 and MSI Z97 PC Mate board and neither is as peppy as this board with otherwise identical hardware (G3258 @ 4.5 GHz). Intel 520 SSD, ASUS GT 610, Earthwatts 380W PSU and Fractal 1100 Case round out my favorite little office PC since my AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto build probably 5 years ago. Fast fast fast.
