4 out of 5 eggsAwesome MOBO

Pros: Handles plenty of devices, 4 IDE and 4 SATA, 3 PCI slots along with the PCIe 1 and 16x, Allows up to 4 gigs of dual channel DDR2, 8 channel audio, ULi chipset is more than sufficient. What can I say? It's MSI.

Cons: Requiring a copy of XP with SP2 is a pain in the neck, but I managed to work around it.

Other Thoughts: Great Price for a good mobo. MSI always delivers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood mobo good price

Pros: If you find reviews of this mobo online (like you should have before you bought it), you know that the 3d performance is up there with nforce and other higher end chipsets. Nvidia bought ULI for a reason.

Cons: I've heard that it's not the best for overclocking, but I don't do it so I don't care. Having the 1x pci-x slot over the 16x slot renders one normal pci slot useless, unless you like another card millimeters away from your expensive graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Good card if you don't want sli, but do want good performance. Can't beet AM2 socket, 2 EIDE, and 4 SATA for future upgrades. Get the latest drivers from nvidia and the latest BIOS from msi's global site.

4 out of 5 eggsTtHIS COULD SAVE TIME

Pros: This board is great. It has the Socket AM2,which handles Dual Channel DDR2.

Cons: not realy any...

Other Thoughts: When you waant to install XP as the OS, you MUST have XP with SP2 to install.Or you get part way through install and the blue screen of death pops up with an error like (STOP: 0x00000000...
pci.sys) ? XP with SP2 on it solves this problem.
To run Dual Channel DDR2, place RAM in DIMM slots 1&3 or 2&4.

2 out of 5 eggsSomewhat Stable...

Pros: Cheap with nice features

Cons: BIOS has been updated 3 times in the last 4 months and still some stability issues with the memory controller. No overclocking has been done.

Other Thoughts: Loads everything fine for every day use but not recommended for gaming. Memory write errors are frequent especially with newer games.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good board for the money.

Pros: Inexpensive, a lot of good features and latest technology on board for the money. Very quiet since their is no fans. Live update feature is pretty awesome.

Cons: Some minor problems with some intial errors during boot up. However everything was fixed with updated bios and drivers (a must from their website). Would be nice to somehow load sata drivers during initial harddrive installation without the use of a floppy A drive but I don't think this is a motherboard issue. Also manual could be much better written.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have download the latest sata drivers from the website before you install your system/harddrive. Haven't overclocked yet but will only allow minor-medium adjustments since there is very limited cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Good

Pros: Price. Simplicity. Performance.
Small Footprint. It's getting kind of tough to find boards that will support 4 IDE devices. This played a large part in my decision to buy this board.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was a little anxious at first, since this is the first time I have strayed from using chipsets from more mainstream manufacturers. Uli did not disappoint, however. Even overclocks well. I have an Athlon x2 4200 running rock solid at 2.67 Ghz. Decent OC features in BIOS. For this price, buy it..

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade path

Pros: Used to upgrade to the 64 bit/PCI-E world. Just transplaned this for my Athlon XP MSI board. Used hard drives without reinstall of software. Works like a charm.
Good value for a starter in the 64 bit world. Installed an XP 64x2 chip.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've done a lot of board transplants and this was about as easy as it gets. I'm sure that staying with MSI hepled.

3 out of 5 eggsGood board/Hidden Raid Drivers

Pros: This board is good for the price. It has support for alot of the latest technology. The board had no problems on my first boot with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 and K9NU Neo board.

Cons: There are no driver floppy disks provided. Windows requires both SATA drivers as well as RAID drivers to see a RAID array loaded onto a floppy. They are hidden on the CD without docomentation online or in the out of the box manual of where to find these files. There isn't even a mention of what files are needed.

Other Thoughts: The files you need to install RAID are in the ULi directory on the provided CD. You need both the driver in /ULi/Floppy as well as the driver in /ULi/M1697/Floppy. M5287.sys is the Raid driver, and M5288.sys is the SATA driver. There is adequate instructions in the ULi directory on how to make the floppy. The pain in finding where these files were is why I rated this board a 3. Also make sure to replace the drivers with the ALI integrated V2.20 driver directly from the nVidia website the first time you can. The drivers on the provided CD are very unstable.
