grr
- Pros: might have been a good board if worked
- Cons: ok well finally i got my new gaming rig that i have been saving up for for 2 years, i build it and something is wrong the screen stays in sleep mode hmm i test all of my other components and they all work so it must be the motherboard....... k thats fine order another one build it turns out its dead also well... this is a good board if you get lucky and get like 1 in 5 that works i replaced it with a regular p6ngm and now everything is fine i wouldnt buy this board if i were you
Great Board
- Pros: This is a great board, especially for the price. The heat pipes are relatively unobtrusive, and there is plenty of space on the board, meaning I had no problems fitting anything. Ram slots were far enough away from the CPU slot to fit my very wide zerotherm CF800 92mm cooler.
- Cons: Heat monitoring software that comes with the board has a very loud alarm. Wouldn't usually be a problem because most people would like to know when their cpu is overheating...however, the zerotherm CF800 I have runs at a very low speed. The program monitors CPU fan speed and assumes that my fan is running too slow to cool the CPU properly (even though it usually keeps it below 30c) so I can't leave the software on if I want to do anything without noise.
- Other Thoughts: The front usb plug was in a slightly odd spot, making me have to weave the cable around components to get to it.
Good, but the PCI-e 1x slot has issues...
- Pros: Great board over all. Has served me well for a long time, in both Windows and Linux. Plenty of slots for a boat load of RAM. Nice LGA 775 socket supports a lot of slick processors. All in all, I love it.
- Cons: The whole Nvidia fake-raid thing is a pain in the neck. It was a nightmare to get it working in Linux, and I had to scavenge a floppy drive to install drivers for it with windows. I tried to get a 3Ware card instead, but the PCI-e 1x slot I was gonna use is lined up with the RAM release levers. When I try to drop the (rather long) 3Ware card in, it hits the levers. 13mm too long... so close!
- Other Thoughts: Its a shame that such a glorious piece of electronic design would have a physical layout issue. I may be able to drop the card in the PCI-e 8x slot (which is normally used for SLI), but it seems like a waste to put a 1x card in an 8x slot, while leaving an actual 1x slot open!
