4 out of 5 eggsLove this

Pros: Love every thing .

Cons: Needs more hook ups and hard to find upgrades .

Other Thoughts: I want to upgrade the processor . What is the best processor to get for this and dose it matter if it's 32 bit or 64 bit ?

Cons: they finally make something that works great and after 8 months take it off the market wish they would bring it back - would buy 5 of them all at once to rebiuld my other computers - only thing i found wrong was the audio quits after 3 weeks but thats ok becouse you want to use an audio card anyway for more sound

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money and time

Pros: supports IDEs so if you have older hard drives and disk drives you could still use them on this SLI supported motherboard.

Cons: First one was DOA. I sent it back to MSI and they sent me another motherboard which was the WRONG model and even that motherboard was still dead and would not even post. Contacted MSI customer support and they said sorry about the mistake and they would send me a new board. MONTHS later, I have still not received anything from them and they have stopped responding my emails. I requested to talk to the customer support manager and he would not even bother responding to emails. MSI customer support is disaster. Do not buy any products from them because if you have any problems, good luck with them. extremely disappointing experience.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: Easy to overclock
Easy RAID setup
Lots of board for the money
Runs cool
CMOS reset on back of board, not inside!
Easy to update bios with USB

Cons: Needs more SATA connections, 4 just isn't enough. Sadly, I have to rate it a 4 out of five because of this, it's that important!

Other Thoughts: I've had this board for 8 months now and it's been the most stable board I've ever had. I overclocked a Q6600 to 3.0GHz on air (no higher because I need quiet cool computer.)

3 out of 5 eggsGood mother board, bad business.

Pros: Bought this board from another site and it overclocks well. SLI. The board serves its purpose.

Cons: The drive connections are all the way in the bottom of the board so you need to buy 18 inch cables to reach your CD or DVD drives. MSI rebate is a scam. I sent all the necessary info in with delivery confirmed by USPS. I emailed MSI about it and they said they never received it. Whatever.

1 out of 5 eggson third return

Pros: I purchased 2 of these boards, one worked right out of the box for a friend's build. The second board is for a personal build.

Cons: I am presently on my 3rd. return for this second board.
First retuen: no boot: 3/07/09
Second return: board caught fire; 4/13/09
Third return: in process at fans, power problems. I asked for a exchange. we'll see.

Other Thoughts: I purchased a EVGA board from New Egg to get my build going, If the Pn7 is returned to me working..I'll switch out the EVGA.

5 out of 5 eggsp7n SLI Platinum; Amazing.

Pros: This board is very nice. Right from opening the box, you can tell it's high quality; the heat sink looks amazing. Inside the box you'll find 2 floppy and 2 IDE (ATA) cables, 4 SATA cables, an SLI Bridge, the manual, and a quick reference sheet- along with assorted LED and USB pin connectors/wires. There is also an included bracket that houses 2 USB ports and one Firewire.

This board is feature rich; there is even a CMOS reset button on the back! Let's say your a novice overclocker, and manage to do a bad OC. Instead of opening up your case and switching the jumper, you can turn off the computer, press a button, and be up and ready again.

The motherboard has two PCI slots and 3 PCI-E 2.0 slots; all with x16 plastic but 2 running at x8. These slots will still work amazingly with x16 and below. The four internal SATA ports are also in a nice position on the side, which is cool.

The BIOS uses an overclocking method where you can SEE the actual, whole FSB, which is cool.

Cons: All my complaints are minor, and nothing to fret over. So I'd like to start off by saying that if you like this board, as you should, go ahead and buy it.

My first problem with the board is simply the RAM slot coloring. There is nothing wrong with them, but in order to do dual-channel you have to put them in the top slot of each pair- as in one in orange, one in green. Its really easy to figure out; It just would've been nicer if they were color coded.

The PCI-E 2.0 x8 slots are close to the PCI slots; if you had two graphics cards in SLI they would definetly be covered. There's nothing to worry about for the x16 slot though.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this Open Box off of the egg for a low price. It came with everything unopened, although the back I/O plate for the case was incorrect. I bet someone RMAd it over the backplate. Anyways, I give props to the egg for having a great resell service, and props to MSI for quickly sending me the proper backplate for a cheap $8. The went as far as to send it in an 8800 box, instead of just mailing it.

I would purchase this motherboard again for many computers to come. It works great with my Q6600 G0 in my RAIDMAX Smilodon, using an MSI 250 GTS. If you're just starting out on building a new computer, or want a low price high quality board, this is for you.

I have a video review up on youtube; simply search for the account drakeishfyre or the video "Tristan's Gaming Build"

5 out of 5 eggsWhat I expected

Pros: Good Valve, Highly Upgradeable, Easy to Overclock

Cons: Bios had to be updated first thing. factory installed bios doesn't recognise 1TB hard drives and had trouble with a quad core processor. All fixed with online bios update.

Other Thoughts: This is a great motherboard for the price. I haven't had any other problems except, I had to upgrade the bios first thing. It would crash before I did that. I would definately recommend this board to others

1 out of 5 eggsMSI Motherboards Suck

Pros: Nice layout of board with 4 eSATA and 4 EIDE controllers and 3 PCI Express slots...2 PCIe 8X slots for my two 3-Ware Sidecar 4 Tbytes hard drive array system...Only reason I switched to MSI after 25 years of building computers. Will stick with Intel/Asus/Abit Motherboards in the future...

Cons: This MB listed a $20 rebate but, is not listed on MSI site for luck filling out rebate request 9 days after calling MSI. Also purchased 3 P6N SLI Platinum motherboards that always Reset all of your 12 BOOTUP Priorities in random order within the BIOS SETUP utility each time you plug in any USB device...have to reboot & re-enter boot priorities each time. Latest BIOS does not fix...MSI tech support is ignorant and unable to fix.
