Get ready for a totally new overclocking experience that you've never had before! The X58 Eclipse SLI from MSI is designed with DrMOS OC technology. Instead of discrete MOSFETS and a Driver IC, DrMOS integrates all three into one package that takes up less space, uses less power and is much more power efficient.

Up to 24GB of DDR3 1333 RAM can be installed with triple channel mode for increased performance. Get even more performance – up to 1600MHz – through overclocking. Three PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards can be mounted for cutting-edge graphic power with support for either NVIDIA SLI or ATI CrossFireX. 100% all high-quality conductive polymer capacitors give longer life and higher energy efficiency by supplying power to vital components independently.

Get eight channels of HD sound from the X-Fi Xtreme Audio card for pure, clear audio. Connect up to ten SATA drives at 3Gb/s for high-speed data transfers, as well as the option for multiple RAID configurations. Integrated dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN allows bottleneck-free connections to other network devices at broadband speeds and eight USB 2.0 ports allows for nearly unlimited possibilities in connecting peripheral devices.

  • newegg Intel Core i7 Support Based on the X58 chipset, the MSI X58 Eclipse SLI Motherboard supports Intel’s latest generation Core i7 processors in LGA 1366 package, providing unprecedented computing power to match the performance levels you are looking for.
  • newegg DrMOS Technology With MSI's DrMOS Technology, the X58 Eclipse SLI Motherboard features excellent energy-saving capability, offering a high-level of computing performance while maintaining an ultimate low system temperature.
  • newegg Scalable DDR3 Memory Six 240-pin DIMM sockets support up to 24GB of unbuffered (UDIMM) DDR3 memory at speeds of 1333 and 1600MHz, ensuring ample capacity for any application.
  • newegg SLI or CrossFireX on Demand The MSI X58 Eclipse SLI Motherboard features three PCI-E 2.0 slots that support NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossFireX configuration on Demand, provides a jaw-dropping graphics level you never seen.
  • newegg Dual Gigabit LAN The integrated dual Gigabit LAN design allows a PC to serve as a network gateway for managing traffic between two separate networks. Dual Gigabit LAN means rapid data transfers from WAN to LAN without any added arbitration or latency.
  • newegg SATA II with RAID Support The second generation SATA interface delivers up to 300MB/sec transfer speed, doubling that of the first generation Serial ATA. The on-board ten SATA II ports support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 for better performance, enhanced data security, and flexible capacity upgrades.

4 out of 5 eggsGOOD STUFF

Pros: Easy base clock overclocking via mobo switch (for overclocking dumb people like me), clear cmos button on back pannel, nice bios

Cons: wanted to get killer xeno pro but if your gona sli or crossfire GPU cards theres no room so im stuck between choosing another nvidia 260 or xeno :( think the GPU wins. oh and mine was missing a screw so minus an egg lol

Other Thoughts: my first build worked out pretty niceley

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Pcie board location

Pros: I had special needs to install in quiet case lian Li B10 mid atx. The location of #1 Pcie to fit my XFX HD-587A-ZND9 plenty of room as I wil never run in SLI. Creative XFI works great and was able to install my Hauppauge HVR 2250 tv card in the second video Pcie card slot because the other 1X slot covered by my huge video card. This is a very nice board. Some how when I installed in case I had a no boot with a 30-45 second wait and nothing, I checked New Egg RMA instructions which said to test MB out of case which is how I found the problem. Reinstalled in case :) Everything is working great I have great air flow and a quiet machine running I7 960 with Zalman

Cons: :) This set up to fast trying to give to my girlfriend so I can make another one.

Other Thoughts: Corsair 850HX PS and 6g of Corsair Dominator memory, still need to convert HD to SSD to be complete!

1 out of 5 eggsNo good

Pros: Nice specs, good overclocking capability, plenty of extras.

Cons: Poor build quality/quality assurance. Heatsink on top of the Northbridge and Southbridge is secured via cheap Nylon fasteners and shoddy thermal grease. Built my rig and the IOH temp was over 120 degrees Celcius stock.

Other Thoughts: RMA process took over a week and was not fun.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: Works great. Lots of BIOS features. Easily overcolcked my 920 to a stable 3.5GHz.

Cons: The LED display and the green power thing should have been integrated into the board.

Other Thoughts: Throw the green power thing in the trash. Before you plug the led display in, peal the sticker off, it looks 10x better.

5 out of 5 eggsits good

Pros: worked well south bridge runs nice and cool compaired to last rig first rig i put together my self took a while to boot up first time about 20 seconds of just silence and quickly crashing down dreams of a working computer and 1400 dollars down the drain then it came screaming to life with the roar of 2 gtx 260 msi cards which by the way are NOT whisper quiet. that and a V1 cpu cooler is amazing at cooling but is not by any means silent.

Cons: dont get me wrong it worked flawlessly and was pretty good price for what i got but well my coolermaster HAF 922 case has red led fans and i bought some more to replace the non leded ones with more red ones but then i discoved that the mother board as a set of 4 bright blue led lights on it not a con as it turned out but would have been nice to know before i got it but i gotta admit when i got that v1 cooler and the blue lights hit the red ones the result was awsome.

Other Thoughts: get it if u got the money and are ok with some extra lights and a phenominal running mobo that comes with software that over clocks or down clocks your cpu as is needed. quite handy. get it you wont regret it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Board was very stable and has stayed stable. I have not tried to overclock. At standard settings it is very competitive with other Intel X58 boards running core i7 extreme according to Sisoft. Easily handles 12 gbyte ram and dual 295 cards. It was a little tricky configuring the Raid array to 10 (4 velociraptor 300's), but it worked eventually. Am running Vista Premium and all software is running well.

Cons: The space between the cpu and ram is not large enough to support the largest heatsinks (thermalright ultra 120) with dual fans.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Performance / lacking support

Pros: Very solid board, easy to install and setup. Included instructions are easy to understand even for those "not so geeky" users. Great performance, and especially easy to overclock with added safety to avoid damage.

Cons: The MSI support page and its update utilities are woefully lacking and difficult if not impossible to use. Very dicey when attempting BIOS upgrades as you'll need to manually search out and find the appropriate up-to-date version.

Other Thoughts: All in all a great board but PLEASE MSI - fix your horrible update utilities!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome MB

Pros: 1. Soundblaster Audio
2. LED indicator lights for almost everything (memory, cpu, etc.)
3. SATA ports are not blocked by large video cards.
4. Great motherboard layout to maximize cooling efficiency.

Cons: 1. CPU base clock editing is somewhat hidden. The user has to set the bios to "optima settingl" to reveal the base clock editing option.

Other Thoughts: For me this motherboard was plug n' play. I simply installed all the components and the system booted right up.
