Get affordable computing performance with MSI's 790FX-GD70 motherboard. Based on AMD's 790FX and SB750 chipsets, this ATX form-factor board is designed to support the latest AM3 Phenom II processors. With DrMOS OC technology. Instead of discrete MOSFETS and a Driver IC, DrMOS integrates all three into one package that takes up less space, uses less power and is much more power efficient.
Dominate your applications and games with up to 16GB of DDR3 memory fitting into four 240-pin slots with dual channel support and 2600 MHz Hyper Transport technology for increased performance. Onboard Gigabit Ethernet LAN means that you can connect to other networked devices without running into a bottleneck.
Four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards can be mounted for cutting-edge graphic power with support for quad ATI CrossFireX. Eight 3Gb/s SATA connectors give you the ability to store massive amounts of data locally with several RAID configurations possible for extra security and high-speed performance, and an eSATA port provides the same capabilities for an external drive. Seven USB 2.0 ports give you additional options in connecting and expanding your system.

Very nice board
- Pros: Worked out of the box--no BIOS flash required--with my new Phenom II 955 BE. Plenty of room for everything, including my big Zalman CPU cooler. Easy to access connections.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: I don't overclock, and I don't do RAID, so I can't comment on those features.
I've had an MSI Platinum motherboard running in my 6000+ machine for over a year. It's a good, rugged board, and I hope that this MSI board will give me equally good service.
works
- Pros: Had enough room for my ocz am3 golds (although not much room for air between them)
- Cons: I was scared when putting the x4 955 stock fan on it, very tight fit, had to force it a bit, didn't break anything, afterwords i guess that is just how they make it fit tight and i don't think i was actually in danger of hurting it
- Other Thoughts: I don't know if there is anything wrong with it, my first build and everything seems to be working as it should, bit-tech gave this thing great reviews

Almost Perfect
- Pros: Great main board with all the bells and whistles. The standoff block "helper" for the power/led/reset leads made that part of the installation really easy.
- Cons: Why do the mainboard manufacturers insist on placing the SATA connectors facing forward off the edge of the board? They are hard to get to and you can't see the tab edge when you're trying to install the SATA cable.
Windows-7 integration from MSI's website is poor. Live-update doesn't work and there's no way to upgrade the bios easily. "boot from a win98 floppy disk" was what the bios flash install instructions told me - what the heck - no modern rigs even have floppy drives!
I had problems with the USB flash tool from the BIOS so I ended up building a bootable win98 boot thumb-drive and flashing the BIOS from there. An interesting excercise but I would rather have had live-update just work.
Good MB, audio flaky at times
- Pros: This is a nice MB. Love the blue leds. Board is well laid out.
- Cons: I've had a few problems with the audio. Sometimes when my box goes to sleep, the audio starts making strange annoying sounds, a quick wiggle of the mouse fixes it, but it has happened 4 times already over the past 4 weeks or so.
Fantastic
- Pros: Great place to start my new build. very solid. The sound card is my personal favorite feature of this board. you wont need to ever buy a new one.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: I have a 630 propus in it and it works great, no OC. 2 64GB SSD's run FAST with the Hardware RAID.
