5 out of 5 eggsAwesome motherboard!

Pros: Small form factor. Well layed out pinning for usb and case. Awesome MSI RMA support. Easy driver support. Tons of features for under $100. HDMI DVI and VGA! Awesome basic desktop board for a basic home user or small to midsized office.

Background: I have been purchasing this exact board from Newegg for over a year now. I currently have deployed about 200 of these with the i3 series processors and 4 gb of ram throughout my offices. Out of all 200 I have only had 1 failed board. To me that is about as high as quality control can get. THIS IS AN AWESOME BOARD don't let these other reviews scare you. Most people don't even have the skill to properly diagnose the issues they have had with the board.

A+ for sure!

Cons: The ONLY thing i recommend NOT doing with this board is installing the INTEL Display driver that Windows Update picks up for Windows 7. It is unstable. Use the standard drivers that come with the board or the MSI Update site.

Other Thoughts: As always FAST shipping from Newegg. Thanks guys!

2 out of 5 eggssuch a bad refund process

Pros: I have not installed this motherboard yet. I am waiting on the Ram and a new hard drive to come in the mail but will edit this part of the review when it gets here

Cons: The rebate process so far has not been good. First you have to go online and fill out some forms, print them out, then mail them in. Then you have to cut off the barcode off of the original purchase and mail that in. Then they will email you saying that they did not receive the invoice which was in the box and now they will make you resubmit again. Only for MSI to loose the invoice again. this time I am mailing it certified mail so that they have no excuse. We all know that hindsight is 20/20 so next time I will stick with Asus.

Other Thoughts: very bad refund policy.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsOne RMA, One OK

Pros: Decent Features for a basically budget board. 4 DIMM slots, OK audio, IDE for old drives, etc.

Cons: Price should be lower now. 1156 socket is second tier intel, and this board's quality is iffy at best. I RMA'd the first one. It died after a few days. The replacement is working nicely after 3 months, but I am expecting it to fail at some point due to the issues that I and others have had.

Other Thoughts: Some advice to novice builders:
1. Don't cheap out on your Power Supply. You will regret it. Balance your PS decision on proven reliabilty vs cost, and get the best bang for your buck.
2. If you are planning to install Windows 7 on more than one machine (ie: laptop & Desktop), or have friends/family who want Win 7 too, consider getting the 3 user upgrade version. It comes with both 32 & 64 bit discs so you can have 32 bit on an older machine, and 64 bit on your new build or 64 on both, etc. It's not upgrade only. You can choose do a clean install on any drive that has any old windows installed. Whip out that old XP disc, install it on your new drive first, then clean install win 7. It's a retail version, and costs less than the single retail Win 7 disc! The price is only marginally more expensive than a single OEM Win 7, but if you install it on multiple machines, it works out to be 45 bucks each on three, and 70 bucks each on two. I split mine with friends, and it worked out great

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE!!!

Pros: looks good

Cons: I am a part time DJ. I had a friend build me a custom computer. I purchased first board in May 2011, dropped computer about 4 weeks later, and board went bad, but new egg wouldnt replace cause it was outta warranty. Purchased new board with "open box" policy but hat board was RMA'd because it showed up with bent pins. I had to RMA through MSI. Recieved a 3rd board and it was bad!!! Finally in Oct I bought an ASUS board, and the computer is running AWESOME!!!
Called MSI about the bad board that I have, and asked for a refund, and they said "we dont do that, but we can replace it". I said B.S. I already went through 3 boards. They said we can maybe do an upgrade, but for the system I have this was the best board they made. I called the company many times till I got a manager. It has been 2 weeks and still no return call.

Other Thoughts: If MSI hadn't been so easy to work with through the RMA and phone calls... I would be buying from a different manufacturer! So, if you want a good experience with a company during an RMA for a junk board... this is the motherboard for you...

1 out of 5 eggsGood Company, BAD PRODUCT

Pros: Great price, made by a good company, 4 memory slots on mATX, HDMI

Cons: 3 boards, 3 RMAs... can't rate it lower than 1 egg.... I must be fair, the first board died because one of my customers dropped his pc. No big deal, MSI replaced it. And that board is now in the process of being RMA'd because it showed up with bent pins inside the 1156 socket!! Another customer is waiting as well because her's had a short on the board which caused the machine to power off and on and off and on every 6-8 seconds. As a loyal MSI buyer, I'm shocked that such things make it through Quality Control....

Other Thoughts: If MSI hadn't been so easy to work with through the RMA and phone calls... I would be buying from a different manufacturer! So, if you want a good experience with a company during an RMA for a DOA board... this is the motherboard for you...

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget gaming board

Pros: Install took about an hour upgrading from socket 775. fired right up, not problems. HUGE upgrade from an old sli board. Uses 1600mhz memory that's much faster than the 800mhz ddr2 I was running.

Cons: Sata placement, but hey, it's a small board.

Other Thoughts: I got pretty good at overclocking socket 775s. Was nervous about pushing my new i5 lynnfield, but this board made it very easy. With the settings I'm using turbo goes up to 3.9ghz!
System:
i5-760
msi n560gtx ti
sata II drive
4 gig gskill ddr3 1600
750 watt psu

17990 vantage score

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: Micro ATX
MSI
Easy 1 switch overclocking

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Just bought this board for the new HTPC, it's so much faster than my old core 2 duo I had running.

New HTPC specs are:
Apevia X-Qpack2 with 500w PS
MSI H55M-E33 Micro ATX Mainboard
Core i3-500 3.2GHz
G.SKILL 8GB DDR3 1333 (PC 10666)
MSI N430GT 1GB Fermi
Lite-on Blu-ray drive
Lite-on DVD/CD burner
Sabrent 68in1 card reader 3.5" internal
Western Digital RE4 500GB 7200rpm

Also running (3) 3TB external WD drives for storage, bluray and dvd playback and seemless even through USB 2.0

I've always been an MSI fan for motherboards, only one a few years back was DOA, but this one runs great, not a single freeze or hiccup and no problems overclocking.
