4 out of 5 eggsG41 is Good

Pros: Arrived in good condition, brand new, installed and boot up right up. It is a decent motherboard. Also, socket is 775, so processor is first generation, I installed a quad 6600 core, a GTX 260 palit graphic card. This motherboard work like it should. Thumbs up.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

1 out of 5 eggsworked great for 6 months, then it CAUGHT FIRE!!

Pros: cheap, simple to setup

Cons: CAUGHT ON FIRE after 6 months of daily use

Other Thoughts: bought this board to use for a work computer and it worked flawlessly for about 6 months until today. Came into work this morning, pressed power button on computer, and nothing just a blinking power light. Unplugged the power supply for about an hour, then tried again. Pressed power button, nothing. pressed again, cooling fans moved then more nothing. pressed the power button a last time, fans start running, and get about 5 seconds into booting when smoke starts coming out of one of the chips near the processor (voltage regulator?) then starts glowing, then small open flame.
Whole thing lasted about 5-8 seconds.

The board isn't overclocked, modded, or shorted to the chassis. never had a board light on fire before, and wont be buying any more "bargain" mobo's

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Sometimes the board can acquire a short-circuit if there were dust build-ups on the surface and it is helpful to prolong product life through cleaning by air regularly.

1 out of 5 eggsLast MSI Product I'm Buying

Pros: None at all. Second one in a row that won't POST.

Cons: 1st one lasted a few months and began rebooting over and over on POST. Tried a new PSU and RAM. Finally sent the board back, used a different brand mobo and got going. Tried to build a new PC with the returned board. SAME PROBLEMS.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Sometimes you may want to verify your components because the root cause of failure might be associated with them instead of the motherboard.
If you would like to request to have us to test the motherboard for you, then please feel free to let us know at usreview@msi.com and we can do a special RMA for you, thank you.

Best Regards,

1 out of 5 eggssleep state leads to non-waking

Pros: found all of my devices.

Cons: the board will not wake from sleep state randomly. I have to reset the bios from the dipswitch in order to get the board to come back to life. it's random.

5 out of 5 eggsnot bad at all

Pros: used this board after my wife's old dell went to pot. worked well with the older q8200, bios is simple, straight forward, does the job.

Cons: only 2 sticks of mem, not a lot of expansion room, but you know that when you buy it

5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Great board for the money .I have an E5800 overclocked to 3.8 and that`s without upper the voltage to the cpu because you don`t have that option in the bios on this board

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I wish the socket 775 was not on its last legs

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Great jewel from MSI

Pros: Compatible with practically every processor in the 775 Socket family
boots up with no problems ,very common with MSI motherboards at least for me its been 7 in a row now. I give Asus props too i have had good luck with them for the most part , however 0-2 with foxconn (garbage) and the ECS i bought well didn't even give any sign of hope of even being more than a DOA piece of junk

Cons: only con is location of case fan headers they could be centered or put in a better location , had to buy extensions to run one of my case fans

Other Thoughts: Imagine buying a bunch of these motherboards and using to sell for clients who either want the best the 775 socket has to offer or just wants to get the most out of their old out of date 775 processor, this is the ideal board for either choice. If i bought a lot of these i could go on a site and buy a used pentium 4 for like 3-4 dollars and test the board out to see if its defective or not lol. If i want a performance machine i can stick a e8500 core2 duo or q9650 core2 quad in it , This board is amazingly versatile and i can't believe i managed to buy one of these jewels for $32.99 with free shipping , only thing that was missing in the box was one sata cable i believe , usually these come with 2 .As always i once again get a great surprise and impressive showing on an MSI board . I think i'll stay loyal to this brand for a long time to come its payed off so far .

5 out of 5 eggsGave my old p4 Prescott new life!

Pros: Inexpensive but impressive, this board allowed me to use extremely cheap DDR3 1333 with my old Pentium 4 550 (3.4 GHz HT 800FSB) and upgrade from AGP slot to PCI-E 16X. It's a tight fit, but my new GTX 550 Ti Superclocked fits this board and with a little memory timings adjustment is working perfectly. It was causing a system freeze after 5-10 minutes of gaming. Seems that the BIOS automatically set tight timings (6-6-6-17) based on the slow 800 FSB, but the 1333 modules need a looser setting (9-9-9-24) to work properly. No more issues since I set timings manually. Everything runs cool except the #2 MB sensor shows 8-10c higher than the other 2 (I assume it's under the northbridge chipset, no room for large heatsink). All in all a great board for the price which will let a lot of people get the most performance out of their old CPUs.

Cons: My only con is the spacing of the expansion slots. When using a double-slot video card in the PCI-E X16 slot it covers up the first legacy PCI slot, leaving only 1 for your sound card or whatever. I knew that when I bought it, having read the online manual and scoped the layout, and it IS a micro ATX board, so I didn't expect different.

Other Thoughts: Pentium 4 3.4 GHz HT
MSI G41M-P26
EVGA GTX 550 Ti Superclocked
Patriot DDR3 1333 4 GB
Corsair Carbide 400R

7 X 120mm case fans
Ultra 650w PSU
Audigy 2

5 out of 5 eggsAnother quality product from MSI

Pros: Great motherboard, one of the few LGA775 socket MB's to support a ton of CPU's, from single core P4s to Core 2 Quads, a very impressive support list. DDR3 support, decent onboard video, solid caps on the PWM and decent overclocking features (had an E3300 2.5ghz running at 3.1ghz stable on air CM Hyper 101 with no major increase in temp on idle, load went 5-10 degrees higher than 2.5). Where else are you going to find a board that can run a core 2 quad and DDR3 for under 50 bucks? This board was part of a budget build for my brother, total machine cost (everything except mouse keyboard and monitor replaced) for around $480 and runs Skyrim maxed out Ultra(HD 4850).

Cons: Not enough solid caps, granted the board was cheap, so I guess I can't really complain which is why I didn't dock an egg. Only 2 RAM slots, limited space on the board so no egg dock again (besides you don't see alot of mATX boards with 4 slots).

Other Thoughts: Bro is extremely happy and still can't believe how inexpensive the build was(only one component was bought used).

Budget Build;
Intel Celeron E3300 2.5Ghz (running it @ 2.8Ghz) Used
MSi G41M-P26 motherboard
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 2x4GB
Cooler Master Hyper 101 (very decent cheap cpu cooler with 2 copper heat pipes).
Western Digital 1TB Green 7200RPM HD
XFX ATI Radeon HD4850
Thermaltake V6 BlacX Edition Case
Thermaltake TR2 600W PSU
LG BD-RE Bluray Drive
