  • newegg Military Class II The perfect trinity of quality, stability and efficiency all exist at one mainboard to meet end user expectations. The MSI Military Class II series products provide the long lifespan, unparalleled quality, extreme performance and ultimate efficiency. Insisting on the best stability, MSI utilizes Hi-c CAPs on Military Class series. Made of the rare element Tantalum, often used on space shuttles and satellites, which sustains very high temperatures and shows an amazingly high electrical conductivity. The super Ferrite Chokes use a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. Compare with traditional choke, the Super Ferrite Chokes run at a 35 degree Celsius lower temperature. The lower working temperature will enhance mainboard stability. For providing the highest quality products, Solid CAPs are also built in the entire Military Class series. This not only makes bursting capacitors a non-issue but also ensures a dramatically extended lifetime and ultra-low ESR.
  • newegg DrMOS In order to provide customers stable and high quality products, starting from P45 series mainboards, MSI is leading the industry to introduce the world's most advanced power supply component, DrMOS (Driver-MOSFET), which integrates Driver IC, Top MOSFET and Bottom MOSFET into one chip. Except for its outstanding performance in power saving, DrMOS possesses switch frequency which is 400% faster than traditional MOSFET and has great improvement in stabilizing power supply and voltage control. Even under heavy loading and overclocking conditions, DrMOS can still provide the most stable and efficient power supply and quality.
  • newegg OC Genie II – Overclock & Unlock CPU Core in 1 Second OC Genie II, the most powerful and easy overclocking technology is implemented on MSI's AMD 9-Series mainboards. MSI's OC Genie II completely automates advanced overclocking functions and offers up to 248% higher performance with the simple click of a button. It does not matter if you're a first time hardware owner, or a veteran overclocker, activating MSI OC Genie II will unlock your hidden CPU cores, overclock your CPU and your memory to simply give you the best and stable performance for free on MSI AMD 9-Series mainboard available.
  • newegg APS (Active Phase Switching) Active Phase Switching, APS, technology is an intelligent design that helps to save energy on MSI’s mainboards. The underlying idea is to switch off the power supply as soon as no electricity is needed, and when the system needs more resources again, APS will automatically adjust electricity supply accordingly. APS will automatically detect your processor’s loading at any given time and save energy accordingly. This is only possible by means of a very advanced power controlling technology. Other than software-based solutions, APS technology stands out from MSI's own research. The specially developed IC chip can operate automatically depending on the demands of the power supply, which is to reduce the total power usage.
  • newegg USB 3.0 & SATA III Compared to the 480Mbps provided by traditional USB 2.0, the all-new USB 3.0's 5Gb/s offers 10 times the transfer bandwidth, so transferring a Blu-ray movie takes less than one minute. MSI also has implemented a front panel USB 3.0 port, making the use of an external USB 3.0 device even more convenient. SATA 6Gb/s provides double the bandwidth of traditional SATA 3Gb/s, and increases the data transfer rate between your mainboard and internal storage devices, such as 7200RPM HDDs, 10000RPM HDDs and SSDs. It’s also the current trend for upcoming high-speed internal storage devices to break the existing bottleneck of a PC’s performance.
  • newegg AMD CrossFireX & NVIDIA SLI AMD CrossFireX / NVIDIA SLI technology allow two or more discrete graphics cards to work in concert in one computer system for scalable gaming performance. With these technology, the traditional graphics limitation exists no more, bringing your gaming to a new level of smooth and realism.

Pros: This Mobo works fine for me. i use a water cooler and run 8 cores at 100% for a long time/ over night and have no problem. easy bios. What do i say I just put the computer together and that was it no need to open it up again.
I seldom give 5 stars. i am seldom happy with a product.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Quick set-up with an easy to use overclock interface.
Read everything plug and play after assembling.
No issues with performance.

Cons: No PCI Express 3
No usb 3.0 input for the top of my case

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard with a 4 year warranty.
Benchmarks don't run as well as they should on my video card because of PCI 2.0 but when I'm playing I cannot tell the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsThe GD-55

Pros: Motherboard is a very nice board with high end components, I found them very stable. You need to have experience when building like setting your ram up at bios to proper speed if its over 1333 mhz ram and then the rule of thumb is to boot up with one stick of your matched ram first and then add a stick at a time on reboots. And also going over 1866 ram at least with an AMD cpu is pointless because thats the highest most of the cpu's support to ram connection anyway up to a 4.2 ghz cpu which is the average user builds.. Overclocking may be a different story but most overclocking isn't for an every day user and I recommend avoiding it.

Cons: Didn't see any, and like I said overclocking can usually safley and correctly only really harvest a bout .2 or .3 over most cpu's if you notice when they say turbo mode that means the cpu will run that cause they tested it but probably will be unstable past that, hence not worth even turboing or overclocking IMO.

Other Thoughts: I've built a few of these and have had no problems, if you learn what your doing so you recognize if there really is a problem or if you perhaps forgot to set something correctly or in the wrong order you shouldn't either.

5 out of 5 eggsI don't understand the bad reviews?

Pros: Installing and connecting the board was simple. Removing the original heat-sink mounts was a cinch. First and every boot-up has worked perfectly. Loading time is <5 seconds for the Windows 7 splash to appear. Drivers installed easily, click-BIOS was much less of a headache to navigate than others. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. This was my first big purchase with Newegg, and my entire build order shipped 2 days sooner than I thought it would!

Cons: None so far.
I miss having 2 ethernet ports, but that's a purchase choice, not a product flaw.

Other Thoughts: DOA people, better luck next time.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh.. its pretty terrible. wont be getting MSI anymore thats for sure

Pros: Good layout
kinda low price
bio's setup is good and

Cons: Doesn't post
Terrible overclock er (have fx08350 can't get past 4.6 w/ h80i)
doesn't have a USB 3.0 port
audio is ok but thought it would be better
only one 2.0x16 so not good for crossfiring
OC genie is useless= click-BIOS
random restarts FOR NO REASON ( terrible if u game or do some video editing, or even write papers)
load time is long because of "military class" sign that stays forever ( sucks cuz I have a SSD)
has CMOS issues
i have 24gb ram.. only reads 16 ( like i said, sucks if u are video editing)
i can't RMA cuz i had it for to long.. shoulda done this sooner

Other Thoughts: well.. ill try to manage a few more months with this thing until i feel I've had enough and buy another one... definitely not another MSI like i mentioned

3 out of 5 eggsSome good, some bad.

Pros: Numerous system fan plugs. Decent on-board audio. Can use a Linux flash operating system.

Cons: Comes with useless catalysts software that will void your CPU warranty if you agree; it's optional OCing software after the drivers. OC genie and click-BIOS are pretty useless.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Catalyst Control Center is part of AMD driver package, which will not void your CPU warranty.
OC Genie = 1-button overclock for instant overclocking without knowing how.
Click BIOS = Allows you to configure your BIOS settings in Windows without the need to reboot.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't update BIOS

Pros: It's a great motherboard, if it works...

Cons: The motherboard came fine, and worked till I updated the bios (using the correct bios, triple checked from MSI website) and after that, it would not start the POST test, like the other reviews here. (maybe these motherboards come preloaded with the new update now?) It was nice while it lasted, but it did have incorrect readings which is another thing that people have been saying.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
BIOS update is risky, only perform BIOS update when the system is stable and not overclocked, or instructed by Tech Support team.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away

Pros: Price, features, brand

Cons: DOA, will not post, brand?, quality

Other Thoughts: I bought this board in anticipation of an upgrade to another MSI MB. Bought it from New Egg (as I have all of my previous components) in Nov 2012, finally got around to my upgrade at the end of March. Installed everything, and it would not POST. Was getting power error LEDs on my video card so I thought that maybe it was the new Power Supply. That checked out fine, all other components were the same except for the RAM and PS. Checked the ram it passed all tests on another system. Bit the bullet an bought an ASUS Sabertooth, installed it and everything works. Wish I could have installed it as soon as I bought it, but I was accumulating parts for a case swap that i needed to do first.
Now I'm stuck with a worthless MB I'm well past the return period so I'm out $100+. Never had a component be DOA before and I've built plenty of systems. Thought MSI was a respected company, but if their QC let something like this go out...
Web search showed lots of other people having the same issue, so a bad batch must have gone out. I would stay away from this board!
This is not a negative on New Egg in any way. They are a great company and I will continue to buy from them.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
DOA issues are sometimes caused from other factors that has nothing to do with quality.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Quality Board

Pros: Bio Options are very nice! They layout is clunky, but being my first board that's let me use a mouse in Bios, pretty nifty.

After reading some reviews I tried my best to be VERY careful setting the board, and had no real issues. It's very nicely laid out, with the only issue I found being the SATA ports. They're curved to the side which made me a little nervous attaching my DVD and HDD. Otherwise seems to be fine.

Cons: This board has some CMOS issues. A lot of people have been talking about how the board seemed DOA.
(-1 egg for the scare)

My board would not POST on first attempt. I turned it on, the fans started spinning, but the monitor would not turn on, nor would the numlock light on my keyboard. Was forced to clear CMOS, afterwards everything was fine.

Other Thoughts: for "DOA" boards, if the CPU fan DOES spin.

1) Power down the PC
2) Turn off the power supply (If not able, go to step 4, then 3, then 5)
3) Attempt to turn on the PC (To clear any residual charge)
4) Unplug the power
5) Locate JBAT1 Jumper (Lower right, near the front side connections)
6) Switch the jumper from 1-2, to 2-3
7) Wait 5 minutes
8) Switch the jumper from 2-3, to 1-2
9) Plug the power cord back in, and turn on the power supply.
10) Attempt to power the PC on.

This might solve a lot of people's issues. Had me scared to death at first.

4 out of 5 eggs6 Month update

Pros: still no issues so far solid running board

Cons: clickbios II sucks has got to be the worst interface I have ever had the displeasure of using still it is functional no issues aside from it being a pain in the ascii to get around in -1 one egg

Other Thoughts: not sure why so many people are having issues with this board I ordered two more both are functional I assume tho that most the people that are having problems are doing something wrong
