4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Board has run solid for me for about 3 years. I'm very please with this board and I've used it for about 3 builds for friends/family and none have had any issues.

Cons: The only problem I've had with this board (across all 3 computers that I built with it) is that the restart function never seems to work right. If you restart from within Windows or from the BIOS the system will continually restart until you turn it off completely.

Other Thoughts: Other than the issues with restarting, this has still been a great purchase. I suspect that a lot of the low egg reviews are from people who tried to overclock with this board or had power supplies which probably wouldn't pass jonnyguru tests.

5 out of 5 eggsKicks posterior and takes names

Pros: Fast, stable, and reliable even when infested with cockroaches. (That's not actually a joke. They managed to kill my previous motherboard. Don't ask.)

Cons: Extremely minimal install documentation might make this a poor choice for the less tech-savvy.

Other Thoughts: This was a great bargain -- cost the same as it would have to replace my previous motherboard, but gave me double the RAM capacity plus compatibility with AM3+. I bought it based on recommendations from this site and am very glad I did.

2 out of 5 eggsnot near the best

Pros: its a great board to use for a few weeks but not a long term board,i lost my old motherboard due to a logisys powersuplly i bought. and had to get a replacement for temp use. this board has a few good features but not verry many. im really dissopinted in msi over this board.

Cons: no usb 3.0 support, only supports one case fan, has a verry bad overclocking setup. and overheats most gpus.

Other Thoughts: i would reccomend you spend a little extra and get a Gigabyte or Elite Group board instead with better features.

1 out of 5 eggs125w CPU ****Warning****

Pros: cheap?

Cons: Cheap.

I bought this board when the fx 8120 was 1st released, and the board worked just fine after i updated the BIOS. When I started playing games with my friends in RL, i noticed my computer didn't perform nearly as well as theirs, even though my cpu/ram/gpu had better benchmard scores from online hardware review websites. I work for a tech company, and after talking with some colleges over what the problem could be we started questioning the mobo. Come to find out, even thought the MSI website said it supported the fx-8120 it really doesn't!!!!!!

I found this out while looking thought the MSI support forum. There was a thread where someone had a fx-4100 95w and was trying to overclock it using this mobo. A rep from MSI commented that the board could not be used to over clock that cpu b/c it doesn't support anything greater than 95w!

Other Thoughts: Now here's the real head scratcher, I can't find a fx-8120 that only uses 95w on the internet, can any of you? The reason is that there isn't one. The AMD website dosen't list a 8120 @ 95w only a 8100 @ 95w.

I don't understand why MSI would list that is supports a 8120 @95w when that cpu doesn't exist. I mean this mobo can obviously run with the 8120 plugged into it, I'm doing it right now, but it defiantly can't run all the cores at the max clock rate, the mobo can't push that much voltage to the cpu. This is a gamers cpu, and not being able to run the cpu at it's full potential means that this mobo should not be listed as being able to support it.

I'm terribly disappointed in MSI over this.

*******MOBO DOES NOT SUPPORT 125W CPUs*********

MSI website list CPUs that only come in 125W flavor as supported

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This motherboard supports FX processors but capped it from draining more than 95W TDP.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the product, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at usreview@msi.com and we will be more than happy to assist you, thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard

Pros: I built two budget PCs for family members and they (and I) couldn't be happier. It's fast, well built, and the documentation provided was adequate for most people who have built PCs before. Documentation also included pin-outs for power/led/case hookups.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: -Rock solid
-Cheap
-holds some fx cpus

Cons: -not much sata connectors
-only handles 95 watt cpus
-no usb 3.0
-no sata 6gbs
-not much usb add ons
-only supports 16gbs of ram
-not all that future-proof

Other Thoughts: I bought this because ive always had problems with mobos and now that's changed no blues screens not freezing no hardware errors. I know 16gbs is a lot of ram but give it a few years and it wont be. For me when im buying a board i look for quality, price and its future-proof ability . But since i didn't have a lot of money to spend i cheated out the future-proofing. wich will cost me in the end

1 out of 5 eggsNot even close.

Pros: low price.

Cons: Slow, temperamental and no documentation. Total waste of money.
Doesn't include a manual, and the one you can download from MSI is useless, as it is full of errors.
Example: Manual reports the 21 has a SPDIF header, which I required, but this toy board doesn't have one.
Couldn't load Fedora 17 or Slackware 13.37.

Other Thoughts: This was intended to be a stop gap until another board arrived, and couldn't even do that.
Save your money and get something from ASROCK, Gigabyte or one of the other reputable companies, don't buy this toy.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
We do admit the error on the user's manual and it will be revised accordingly, however,
1. SPDIF isn't listed as a feature on the product page on our website, so we have informed Newegg to correct the error on their website.
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/760GM-P21--FX-.html#/?div=Detail
2. The user's manual is shared with 760GM-P23 (FX) therefore SPDIF was erred because it is not available on the P21.

For your information, Linux isn't supported since it's not a mainstream OS which receives no support from component manufacturers at the moment.
Since this board cannot satisfy your requirement, you can contact Newegg to switch to a 760GM-P23 motherboard.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the product, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at usreview@msi.com and we will be more than happy to assist you, thank you.
