5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: 1- Control CPU fan and case fans via BIOS
2- TWO case fan headers
3- PCI-E 3.0
4- Solid cap capacitors
5- Small footprint
6- DVI out
7- BIOS adjustable CPU fan speed quieted Intel G1620 noisy fan

Cons: 1- BIOS is bland
2-Case fan speeds via BIOS can be reduced no lower than 50%
3- No PCI slot

Other Thoughts: I own two of these boards and for price I am glad I purchased them. Here are the builds:
HTPC-
MSI LGA 1155 board
Intel G1620 CPU (great price/performance ratio)
Crucial DDR3 1333 RAM (1x4 gig & 1x1gig)
Rosewill RG630 S12 PSU

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything seems to function as intended.

Cons: Fan Speed settings are crazy. The CPU fan speed will drop to 0%, but the case fans are locked to a 50% minimum. This is crazy! Don't use this for your HTPC!

Other Thoughts: I bought this locally to repair a prefab desktop. It works fine, but the machine is much louder than it used to be, even after adjusting settings in the BIOS. Out of the factory, it barely made a whisper.

The case fans (sys1 and sys2) seemed to be locked at a 50% minimum in the BIOS and I can't control them manually with SpeedFan. I tried using the MSI ControlCenter software and the speed seems to be locked at 50% also. What a shame! Seems like a quality product otherwise.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Board worked great. No design flaws, easy BIOS configuration, and solid product overall.

Cons: The onboard NIC was bad. I was using this board in my firewall I built. I noticed early on that he onboard NIC would not consistently stay connected to my wireless router. After troubleshooting everything I decided to return the board and purchase a new one.

1 out of 5 eggsNot recommended will not buy again

Pros: -Size of the board
-Price
-UEFI (not a pro for me but maybe someone out there cares about the feature)
-M-flash

Cons: -Bios menu looks very old for 2013
-Several bents pins were present on the CPU socket (MSI offered to replace it if I paid retail price again)
-Did not include a instructions manual, I did not need it having lot's of prior experience but that may be useful for some people
-Ethernet port doesn't detect internet connection. I tested on ubuntu 7, 9 and 13 (of course it is not supported so I had no expectations)

***REAL CONS!!!

I have been having issues with it since the first day. I purchased this board & several parts for a client who wanted a PC to mix and create music. I built the PC and it would not boot. No signs of life at, all components are brand new.

I had a bad power supply from logisys. used a known working power supply and a newly purchased one & the board boots for 15 seconds than boot loops until I flip the power switch from behind (no video at all). I booted again with the basics (one ram, cpu, motherboard and a hard drive) it booted.

Which is my next point only one RAM slot works. I tested both sticks of memory in the slot away from the CPU and they worked. that slot is the only one that allow the PC to boot.

Lastly after installing windows 7 in machine it loads the desktop for only 5 seconds than reboots and than boot loops and won't even get past the post screen.

Newegg denied the warranty even though I filed the claim in the 30 window because I did not ship out in time but offered a 15$ gift to my account. (I don't know why)

Other Thoughts: Even after a bios update my thoughts are I could not recommend this Motherboard at all with the various issues.

and all parts were purchased from Newegg.com if that means anything to anyone.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
Bent pins is an user-induced damage, see below for the proper installation procedures (shown in the user's manual as well).

Proper CPU installation procedures:
1. Open metal cage first by releasing lever without removing the plastic cover (Warning! Do not remove the plastic cap yet).
2. Insert processor into the socket.
3. Close the metal cage and secure the lever, plastic cover will come off automatically.

In order to replace this motherboard, we will charge you a $45 to process a replacement.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for what it is

Pros: Haven't had it for long but did its job so far.

Cons: dont mess with the BIOS if you can avoid it, from what I've heard it could mess things up, and its because of some of the reviews I've read that I avoided it as well. BIOS is a pretty basic thing that should really be working fine.

Other Thoughts: Really for a basic build, if you are excepting it to go above and beyond prepare to throw down the extra dollars for something nicer. but when you are on a serious budget it does the trick for sure. also i had no problem with 1333 ram like some people are saying.

2 out of 5 eggs[Almost] amazing

Pros: UEFI, affordable, a very nice board for a media center PC, it's very small, and cute.

All of the ports worked. No fuzz or distortion on the sound. Easy setup. Will fit in any case you need it to, since it's something like seven inches at the longest side.

Cons: I was trying to set up the UEFI settings properly, with a multi-boot system of at least four different boot options...

Well, it failed. It literally died on me. Case closed, hadn't opened it in months, gone. Reset the motherboard, disconnected the sata cables, tried with just one hard drive... It boots... Added the others, tried to set up the multi boot again, it failed.

It also wouldn't run 1333 mhz ram.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased a lot of products from MSI, and I really am quite a fan, but if you're thinking of buying this motherboard, you might want to reconsider. In fact, a motherboard of this size would make more sense with an AMD build.

If you want to order this board, and my review scares you, as long as you don't change the UEFI settings too often, and set up the system properly, using a lower speed ram, this motherboard will be really nice to you. My review speaks to my experiences with this unit, and not every single one. *Most of these motherboards will continue to be reliable longer than the one I was using.*

So, even though I am going to RMA, I would say, that if you're looking at this board for building an inexpensive PC, go ahead. You have my recommendation.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Board

Pros: I bought this board to build a living room PC capable of movie streaming and some gaming. Have had 0 problems with this thing. Other than the lack of usb3, it has just everything you need from a board. I bought this along with a Pentium G2120 & HD 7750 and the setup has come together beautifully. Waited a bit to do the review just to make sure the board is good. And it is. :)

Cons: It's not for overclocking (obvious) It lacks SATA 6Gb and USB3. SATA 6Gbps is no big deal unless you have SSD's

3 out of 5 eggs  You Get What You Buy

Pros: It's cheap, PCI 3, good temporary MOBO

Cons: Occasionally it crashes for no reason, the audio onboard port is too far away for the hd audio cable in my case, no usb 3.0, only 4 sata(none of which are 6gb/s), BIOS could be improved

Other Thoughts: I have had this board for 2 years and runs fine despite the random crashes it was worth the money. OC Genie is pretty useless on this, for someone who is willing to pay $50 on a MOBO then they are probably not going to drop $200 on a CPU to overclock, some will but most won't
