5 out of 5 eggsGood MOBO

Pros: I love this board! We use them all the time at work and they have no problems. I love the click BIOS! The board works great with the AMD A8-6600k APU and Team Elite 8GB DDR3 RAM. If your looking for a good board for a budget gaming rig like I was, I would suggest this to you!

Cons: I could see BIOS updates could be troublesome for a person not tech savy.

1 out of 5 eggsSickning

Pros: Nothing

Cons: There is no power connecter on the mother board so i am not able to turn it on. I feel like i have been ripped off and i feel terrible because its my first every desktop pc build and i was feeling so excited until this point. :(

Other Thoughts: Nothing

2 out of 5 eggsAnnyoing

Pros: 2 sata cables....

Cons: IO Panel was one of the most difficult things to set in this computer, and I'm not joking. After I had gotten it set one of the holders had gotten stuck inside the hdmi port. I was not going to try to reset the IO panel again so I HAD to break that piece off. This mobo is like a another piece of hardware that has no support system on their website. I tried installing the chipset and bios settings it kept leading me to their other mobo. After I find it the computer still won't support usb 3.0 it just WON'T WORK. Oh did I forget to mention the first one was DOA.

Other Thoughts: By the way UPS took the longest time delivering the package back to RMA 6/26-7/7. Not Newegg or MSI fault but I was just pointing that out.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Bios is super easy to navigate, Tons of software to make overclocking and bench marking a breeze, Easily resets if you mess something up, intuitive overclock settings

Cons: No graphis chipset (need a graphics card or APU), doesn't nativelly support 1800mhz+ ram without overclock de-clocks it to 1600

Other Thoughts: Bought this as part of a "PS4 Killer" build with an AMD Athlon x4 750k cpu, works great, easily fixed it when I stupidly set a value to high and crashed the bios, some issues however

Had an issue with booting into windows and usb keyboard recognition on boot meaning sometimes you wont be able to get into the bios. occasionally doesn't recognize hard drives for some reason.

These issues seem to be human error however, although documentation is few and far between.

2 out of 5 eggs2 Beeps at POST

Pros: Motherboard easily fit into my case and had a nice I/O. Plenty of SATA ports.

Cons: When I placed everything inside the case and turned the computer on, the motherboard gave 2 short beeps and did not continue. No post, no display.

Other Thoughts: I bought this motherboard to replace an older model when lightning stuck power lines at my house and broke the computer. After testing with 2 sets of RAM sticks the motherboard was determined to be the problem. Did not help at all.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems, problems

Pros: Very inexpensive, and fits in smaller chassis, as it's a tiny micro ATX format.
Part of a combo with an AMD A4-4000 for a very low price.

Cons: The setup document that comes with it is almost useless, except that it's in 41 different languages. Really? I can only presume the instructions are equally bad in each language.
The BIOS adjustments are a little confusing (see documentation above) although rather colorful. I've eventually figured out the settings... I think. There's a fanspeed low-end limit which seems rather high.
A second pair of DRAM slots would have been nice, but it's only got 2.
Linux Mint 17 runs on it, but there are video anomalies which make it nearly unusable without some manual adjustments.
Besides the video instabliity, which causes diagonal lines across the screen (and Memtest confirms the memory is okay), it has a propensity to reboot at random times. IF it boots fully to desktop at all.
The ethernet connection died this afternoon (far less than a week of service), so thank goodness I had an old PCI-slot ethernet card.
But that means I can't plug in an IDE card to pull some data off of an old IDE drive.
I'm not sure if the second video output (HDMI) works, since the primary one seems so flaky.

Other Thoughts: I was replacing an old BIOSTAR board with an Athlon AM2+ CPU. Looks like I'll have to go back to it for a while. This is the 2nd of 2 MSI boards I've had difficulties with over the years. Note to self... never again.
Sorely disappointed in this board overall. I'd give it zero stars, but NewEgg got it to me in 2 days.
I guess I'll have to send it back.

3 out of 5 eggsFunky to set up...

Pros: Slick BIOS interface, lots of other options...

Cons: Difficult to get the thing to boot...see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Here's the deal: I bought this board about a month and half ago - and only now got around to setting it up. No matter what I did, all I would get was 1 long beep, 2 short beeps on POST - indicated that it couldn't init the video!

Now - I had bought an AMD X4 740X (socket FM2 - no integrated GPU); I didn't want a GPU because I was dropping in an NVidia 9800 GX2. Reading the manual, though, seemed to indicate that I would either have to buy a processor with integrated graphics - or a different mobo.

I tried everything to get this thing to show video - two different video cards, different cables, swapping ram, resetting bios, etc - no dice! Then I started pricing mobos, cpus, etc (even thinking intel stuff) - realizing I couldn't return anything, and that I might have just bit the dust.

Then I realized one option I didn't try: The PCI slot on the mobo. Out to my junkpile!

Dug up an old 4 meg S3 PCI VGA card - dropped it in, booted - and success - well, sorta. I had video. I could get into the BIOS - but things were wonky; I was getting errors and other junk. So I dug some more - and found an old 8 meg Trident PCI card. Popped that in - and all better. I could nav around the BIOS.

So I found the settings for the integrated graphics adaptor - set it to disable the internal, and "boot" from the PEG (external adaptor, I think). Once I had done that, I verified things with a reboot. Still coming up on the Trident. Popped out the Trident, hooked up the NVidia card - rebooted - AND SUCCESS!

This would have been impossible without my junk pile. I wonder how many people this has happened to, who didn't have a junk pile - and ended up sending stuff back (or worse - like in my case - perhaps eating the cost!)?

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I hope it maybe will. I don't have a better review yet. My intent is to get this puppy packaged back up into the case (took it out of case just to make sure a short wasn't happening), then run memtest for a long while on it. If all goes well, then it will be on to installing crunchbang - hopefully things will continue to go well...

Wish me luck!

2 out of 5 eggsEhhh

Pros: Seems to be a board of higher quality that should easily support most desktop environments but fails short in consistency.

Cons: ram issues (or grounding fault)... even with ram from the QVL, works perfectly for weeks at time and suddenly hard resets (CMOS), CPU temp readings become sketchy, and generally unstable. However, when it works it seems to work very well. All other components have been tested meaning that i isolated problems resulting from the board, AKA not RAM or power supply etc.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board to test out AMD apu's, specifically the a-10 6800k running Ubuntu 12.04. It has not been a smooth process compared to most other competitor boards running Linux. On the bright side it got the job done while maintaining a low budget build.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
There shouldn't be any issues running a RAM off QVL, however the RAM sometimes may not be completely identical since the IC can be changed by the memory manufacturer with similar specification.
Can you provide more details about the isolated incident with RAM issue on the motherboard?
Can you also use memtest86 (www.memtest.org) to verify memory stability?
Can you also also check to see if the BIOS up-to-date?

5 out of 5 eggsMSI works

Pros: I've owned a few MSI boards in the very distant past. Well it's been way over 10 years. I've been running Asus boards since then I just switched for the features on the price at the time no other real reason. I'm impressed with the features they've added to this board and for the price. This is a stepping stone upgrade for me as I'm jumping the AMD ship and saving up for an intel gaming rig I just need something portable until then and this was the way to go. I paired this with an a8-5600k and 8g of g-skill ares ddr3 1600. I plugged everything in and powered it on and it just worked. The bios is ok'ish kinda mediocre from being used to the UEFI bios on a Asus sabertooth. It is still manageble just a very odd setup. It does have alot of options but also alot of limitations for extreme overclocking it tends to favor the auto overclock genie more. I do like the xmp memory support my g-skill timings were all kinds of messed up until I found that option and turned it on. After that my ram lit up and took off like it was supposed to. There were a few reports of not detecting the a8 chips but mine was fine out of the box flashed with v30.2 bios. I haven't tried a dedicated vid card yet but I will be dropping my Gtx660 in there soon. It does have 2 4pin fan headers 1 cpu and 1 sysfan and a 3rd 3pin sys fan header.

Cons: none I can think of
