1 out of 5 eggsBad MOTHERBOARD

Pros: Works very efficient in handling my multitasking, boots up super fast, and its performance is amazing when handling tasks my previous motherboard fails to handle, when it works...

Cons: I began to recently experienced mysterious to almost random sudden reboots In my machine where the Event Viewer cannot exactly logged the cause of this symptom.

I have tried all methods in resolving this matter such as removal of almost all my connected hardware, and peripherals, ect to test the motherboard in finding out what causes these spontaneous reboot issues I can't seem to keep it stable even stripped out of all my components It is not the video card because i tried 2 different ones with same results, I tried NO video card too.

I ran several software in my system to Identify faulty drivers, replaced several Including video, and updating the BIOS but so far no change it still reboots without a cause.

I have also tested my harddisk by removing it and running it in another machine and it runs stable and its working in perfect conditions.

My last option was going into the BIOS settings to make sure that any current settings set are not the cause of the sudden reboots but so far nothing everything seems to be in check.

Last option was trying out different Operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and even resorted with Linux and so far nothing the reboots still occur periodically.

Other Thoughts: I double checked inside the case to make sure everything is plugged where it should be to see if I miss something but so far nothing seems to be out of place, It almost entirely points out to my motherboard been a DUD due to the fact that reboots SOMETIMES can occur whenever I am operating machine and doing web browsing such as clicking links that opens up new tabs, windows in my web browser or about to play a video or during a video play is when it boots up without any log to trace other than a few video card error codes that simply offer very irrelevant answers due to plenty of others experiencing ATI catalyst errors on different machines and video cards.

Another thing I also realized is that this motherboard causes all my operating systems to become corrupt right away leading to the system failures that causes the reboots even though I right away get to work fixing those software errors and do system restores to a more stable running point it STILL does it and the same error codes are repeated leading me to believe that it IS this motherboard that it is either a DUD or a bad one from the start that causes a myriad of errors, issues and HEADACHES.

However my MOBO says it does not have an onboard video chipset even though when I do plug in my monitor to the DVI in the back it does display video.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly (JPWR1 and JPRW2).
2. Update BIOS and drivers if possible provided from our MSI website, www.msi.com
3. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
4. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

4 out of 5 eggsMotherboard with Ubuntu 14.04

Pros: The motherboard seems to be good quality, Is working fine with Ubuntu 14.04 i386 and AMD's fglrx graphics drivers. Comes with 2 SATA cables. Has 3 types of connections for monitor.

Cons: Ununtu 14.04 (64 bit) .iso image has issues booting with this motherboard .

Other Thoughts: Happy with the motherboard. Easy to set up. Has utility in BIOS for overclocking, etc. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse and they work as soon as the motherboard powers on, sothey can be used to access bios. etc. before system software boots.
Had problems booting some, but not all Ubuntu .iso images. From looking at posts on the web from others that had similar issues, Ubuntu 14.04 has problems with AMD processors with build in graphics controllers on MSI motherboards. I am using an AMD A8-5600k cpu. Was unable to boot and install Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit), Ubuntu 14.04 (i386) or Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit). Had to load Ubuntu 12.04 (i386) and upgrade over the web to 14.04 (i386), thus was unable to install a Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit) version. Ubuntu 14.04 (i386) works fine on the motherboard once installed . AMD's fglrx drivers work with no issues, and all applications and hardware work fine. The problem I experienced is a problem with Ubuntu, not the motherboard itself, but mentioning it in the review here as others might run into the same issue.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for less than a week then died

Pros: Worked great when it worked

Cons: -Customer service it HARD to get ahold of if you work for a living.
-Had to PROVE to them it was the motherboard by using a different video card, different RAM, etc.
-Still waiting to get approval for the return

Other Thoughts: The problems with this build alone have soured me on the idea of buying PC parts online, and on the thought of ever building another PC again...

3 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: Quality packaging great instructions and fast shipping good quality bored, everything u need for a budget build.

Cons: This product was DoA :( was building a budget PC assembled everything as the instructions stated went to boot the PC and nothing . At first I figured it was the gpu changed that out with a working Spare I had on hand as well as checked processor, ram and power supply finally narrowing it down to the bored by installing all parts with a new bored planning to be used in a different build

Other Thoughts: I am disappointed that this it was DoA but that's what can happen I will be starting the Rma process ASAP. Will update with more info on the actual performance when I receive a new one

4 out of 5 eggsGreat budget board

Pros: Multiple PCI-E
4 RAM Channels
Good BIOS

Cons: Only one PCI-E x3
Awkward placement of HD AUDIO pins, farthest from front of case where cords are typically ran from

Other Thoughts: This case was pretty good for my gaming rig, since I was on a budget. neither of my embedded USB 3.0 Ports function, although the one in my case does, so it wasn't a huge issue as for there is not a huge need for USB 3.0 just yet. pretty disappointing though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Board has been working great. Paired with A10 6800k, 8GB 2100MHz Gskill, Thermaltake 600w, and a 1Tb Seagate SSHD.

Cons: BIOS can be tricky to update - included software is a little sketchy.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA!!

Pros: Has a lot of what is needed for a good cheep pc build

Cons: DOA. It won't post I've tried everything.. This is my first pc build and I was really excited but now all my excitement is in the trash.. This really blows. I've looked at other reviews, and it looks like a quarter of the people that bought it have had the same issue.

Other Thoughts: Come on msi step it up!

1 out of 5 eggsProblem

Pros: remains to be seen.

Cons: works for small pc company - we've been using this mb for 6+ months. We've also been having an issue w/ each of our PCs that we haven't yet nailed down - suspect this mb. Our customers experience their mouse/cursor changing to an odd "comb" like shape. Exact shape varies somewhat. We tried an Asus w/ the same chipset-same results. We've done much research-it's not Windows settings. The pc may run for several weeks and be fine and then the cursor changes. The only way to fix is reboot the PC. In researching, it appears there could be an issue w/ the AMD Catalyst software. We've also updated the bios and the AMD Catalyst software - didn't help. AMD just released new software for the catalyst - we're in the middle of trying that now. Unfortunately there's no "readme" available for their updates to let us know what the update is for. We're using the A-10 cpu in our machines. We've used Richlands and Trinity - have seen the error on both. We're trying an ASUS now with Hudson D4 chipset. Next we'll change memory brand.

Other Thoughts: I can't honestly say this is a bad board - I thought I'd write a review to see if anyone had seen anything similar or perhaps a response from Newegg. It's become a major pain for us. We hope the newest AMD catalyst software resolves, as we have lots of customers with this mb now. Fortunately it doesn't happen a whole lot. A lot of our customer's stations run 24/7, but we do not know if there's any correlation with uptime or not.
