5 out of 5 eggsAsus P5w

Pros: This was my first build and i started with a core 2 duo and finished this mobos life cycle with a qx6800 , 8gb ram , and an amd 6950. Ive had this mobo for 5 years and it was the best decision when i purchased it. I still have this mobo today and lookin to upgrade but other then that this mobo has been great to me since day 1 5 years ago and never let me down

Cons: NONE. only con as technology progress more money out of pocket but make the best of it.
I really dont have anything bad to says about this board.

5 out of 5 eggsAll-in-one Solution Motherboard

Pros: This mobo has everything I needed. It has the great feature set, an incredible compatibility with multiple OS's, and includes many extras. Integrated audio, wi-fi, e-sata all works as should.

Cons: BIOS, drivers on the included disc were quite old. ASUS's website is slow and I found to be poorly designed when I was trying to get the latest BIOS and drivers.

The ez back-up feature is good idea, but limits the sata port's usefulness if you don't plan on using it.

Didn't care for the included wi-fi antenna or the remote.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have access to another computer so that you can flash the BIOS because it is likely your version will be very outdated. The BIOS on my mobo didn't recognize my newer CPU until I did so.

Have found ways to use ez back-up sata ports normally.

Am satisfied with this board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Amazing motherboard. No problems at all installing vista, linux and other OS's.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I have this running with an intel quad core and 4 gigs of ram, and have been very impressed with its speed and ease of installation.

5 out of 5 eggsGot it and love it!

Pros: It comes with everything you need and them some. The remote is somewhat overdoing it but if it's free what the hec, right? The wi-fi antenna that comes with it gives excellent reception. X-fire is sweet and it still supports the latest processors, dual, quad(45nm ones too!) with the right bios version. It was Maximum PC's mobo of the year for 2006.

Cons: When I bought it, the board was in the higher-end but now it's somewhere around the upper mid-range. If you're looking for the latest possible motherboard, this definitely is not it. Also, one annoying thing about this motherboard is the fact that the slot for the CD/DVD drive ribbon cable is on the bottom left of the motherboard, causing it to get in the way of devices in the PCI slots. The only way to solve this is to use the right slot (originally intended for the ATA hardrives) like I did. It doesn't effect performance but is an annoyance. ASUS could of done a better job on slot positioning.

Other Thoughts: I bought a Pentium 4 processor for it since I got the mobo in 2006 before they shipped ones with the appropriate bios version for dual/quad-cores. It still works like a champ after 2 years. Getting the P4 worked out for me since I'm getting a wolfdale or yorkfield once prices drop from Intel's new CPU releases this fall.
A message to the folks at newegg. Please, update the information on the specifications to mention that this mobo now supports FSB1333. Thanks.

2 out of 5 eggsQuestionable

Pros: Lot's of features.

Cons: I always thought of ASUS as a best company. This product line did not succeed to well. The mobo POSTs for more than 5 minutes before starting windows. This system was built for my cousin.

Other Thoughts: Used with Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, evga 8800GTS 320MB 320bit, seagate perpendicular...rt 320GB, Zalman 9500A CPU cooling, Corsair XMS2 memory.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine.

Pros: Built-in WiFi, plays CDs & MP3 players even when the power is off, etc. Has everything but the kitchen sink!

Cons: The built-in WiFi keeps losing the signal, but it could just be our office environment causing that.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the Wi-Fi not working well, I am pleased enough with this product to continue buying ASUS motherboards in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Easy installation, lots of documentation to get you through installation quickly. Built-in wifi worked perfectly for me out of the box. DH Remote is a cool feature that I didn't see many other places, nice to be able to control any media application from anywhere in my room.

Cons: None so far, one minor thing, was having some problems using restart function, and minor error code on boot, but updated the bios easily and all was fine!

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for an easy board to use for core 2 quad and crossfire video cards, as well as the added bonus of digital home, this is awesome, no trouble so far.
