OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
The ASUS P5NSLI motherboard is an Intel LGA775 Socket motherboard supporting the Intel Core2 / PentiumD / Pentium 4 / Celeron D Processors and NVIDIA’s SLI dual video card architecture. Two PCI-E x16 slots (x8 each in SLI mode and x16, x1 in single video card mode) along with 3 PCI-E x1 and 2 PCI slots provide plenty of expansion room. The 4 240-pin DDR2 DIMM slots can handle up to 16GB of DDR2-667 memory.

An ATA133 header and 4 SATAII headers with RAID support provide plenty of data storage and management options. For your listening pleasure the ADI AD1986A SoundMAX 6-channel CODEC is on-board with jack sensing and enumeration on the audio ports. Network connectivity is provided by an on-board gigabit LAN connector. Four back panel and 4 internal header USB 2.0 ports round out the features on this motherboard.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: -Price. Great MB for the price.
-Somewhat decent overclock ability. (more on this later)
-Easy setup. Runs solid (without heavy overclocking).
-Board recovers fairly well from a botched extreme overclock attempt.
-SLI compatable. Easy switch to SLI.
-Supports wide range of CPU including Core 2. Also supports Pentium 4 (not mentioned in specs)
-Good Bios (I updated to newest bios ver right away so don't know if stock bios was any good)
-Update was easy with USB Floppy Drive. Bios update program for windows caused me some problems though.
Cons: -Overclocking is limited. Especially the voltage settings for Chipset (1.4v or 1.5v only)and RAM (1.8v to 2.1v).
-CPU-Z showed my RAM timings and voltage settings were WAY WAY WAY off on [Auto] even with bios update. I don't remember exactly but I believe the CAS was around 18 on [Auto] and I manually set it to 4 (where it belonged) So depending on your RAM it's possible you will have to adjust your settings manually.
-Poor layout for the expansion slots.
-Going SLI will block 1 PCI and and 1 PCIe x1. But most if not all SLI boards have this problem.
-Not many useful cards for the PCIe x1 yet. (hard to blame that on the MB though) hopefully some WiFi and Soundcards will come out soon.
-Nforce 570 chipset is a bit dated. For a little bit more $$ the ASUS P5N-E 650i offers a lot more features. While the 650i doesn't have some of the (very expensive) southbridge perks of the 680i -Like linkboost, SLI 16x16 and EPP. It has the same NB and is well worth the upgrade.
Other Thoughts: SLI:
-If you don't plan on going SLI I HIGHLY recommend choosing another board. In fact, I DEMAND it! I can't stress this enough. If you want an ATI card DO NOT BUY this board. If you don't plan on going SLI DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD!
-If do go SLI but need more than 1 PCI slot there is a similar Nforce570 model from another brand which will give you 2 usable PCI while in SLI.
OVERCLOCKING
-If you don't care about oc or if a minor oc is all you're looking for, you will be satisfied with this board. If you want to go buckwild (and who doesn't?) the limitations of this mb will disappoint you.
Final Thought:
If you must have SLI (and why not) AND you must have enough Overclock options to fry your CPU (and why not!) AND you can afford it, the ASUS P5N-E SLI with the 650i chipset has much more OC options with support for DDR2 800. It's worth the upgrade.

Dual XFX 7600 GT's in SLI -slightly OC'd
P4 3.0 running at 3.75
1GB of Crucial Ballistix 667 OC'd to 800mhz
