5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Motherboard for the price!

Pros: This motherboard is excellent! It's a great buy, very stable, and I haven't had a single issue with this board since I built it (almost a month ago). My previous socket 939 motherboard's chipset fan went out THREE times--there's no fan to worry about on this board. No IDE issues on my board - am running SATA drives with IDE DVD on primary IDE Channel.

Cons: I literally can't find anything wrong with this board.

Other Thoughts: I've NOT had one single crash/issue/error since loading Win2k Prof, 2GB RAM, 2 Raptors (non RAID), and Nvidia 6600GT.

If you are going non-SLI route, this is an excellent board. I did not have any IDE issues that others have experienced. Then again, my only IDE drive is DVD and it's flawless on the primary channel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for cheap gamers

Pros: This was my first ground up build for my dad and the board works great for what we wanted

Cons: I had an AGP graphics card but i got a better PCI-E card for free so it's not really a con

Other Thoughts: I'm running a 2.0 GHZ AMD Athlon with 2gig of ram and only 180 gigs of HD space

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great motherboard for replacing my msi that failed. Good value and easy install, retrofitted perfectly. Setup straight foward and can hold a lot of memory.

Cons: I am not sure but my msi board had somthing called "smartfan" in the bios and it was great to keep the fan speed low under minute applications so the fan noise was quiet untill temp high or load high. This board just blairs them at full blast pretty loud, now I need to buy a fan speed control, not the end of the world but extra$ I did not want to spend when it was automatic before.

4 out of 5 eggsVery stable

Pros: A very stable board, pretty cheap, decent amount of expandability.

Cons: Still socket 939, DDR is getting expensive. No onboard video.

Other Thoughts: Got 6 of them, have not had a problem.

1 out of 5 eggsFirst & last ASUS product I will waste time and money on.

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: 1. Loud 60hz hum from onboard sound. 2. ASUS's Implementation of SATA controllers causes conflicts with most current Linux distributions.

Other Thoughts: 1. 60hz hum: I tried several different PS, cases, power cords, and electrical sources to get rid of the hum. I've verified proper ground on the homes electrical service and even taken it to work to try on the test bench there. No luck. The hum comes from the MB. 2. The ASUS SATA/IDE controller causes issues with most current Linux distributions. There are many workarounds on the net, which may or may not work. The only sure fix is a kernel patch, but that's a bit much to go through to make things work on this MB. Easier to just buy another MB that doesn't have this issue. I have gotten SuSE 10.3 to load and run by installing from safe mode, but the installation is flakey. The OS seems to "loose" the SATA drives from time to time. The only use I can see for this board is for a text only, all IDE server. Unfortunately I've had it to long to return it. My final fix was to put the original MSI board back in the box.

5 out of 5 eggsRevived a good CPU.

Pros: Full sized, and still usable 939 socket platform. pci-e slots help future expandability. I had a flawless noob install of linux ubuntu 7.04 on this machine, thats using this motherboard. Good price.

Cons: No cons, everything works

Other Thoughts: used only SATA interface devices(hdd and dvd burner), my old 3700 single core, a gig of ram, and another used 7600gs video card, and this machine was up and running on ubuntu faster than my last windows xp install with similar devices(but using a E6600 and a 965P board and double ram). Connects to the internet just fine with the onboard lan adapter. USB ports and sound work. I have zero complaints, especially at this price.

3 out of 5 eggsSays what it is

Pros: Midrange ATX so you gain about a half inch of space not that it makes that big of a difference but the board however is typical asus quality, short sweet and to the point no extra h0rse sh|t fillers (cept on their monitoring software, their developers must stay bored)

Cons: To name a few, the board isnt meant for high end cooling as you have only two fan connectors on the board, after having the board only a week the only other complaint/problem ive experienced is the excessively large capacitor next to the pci-e slot, just barely could i fit my asus eax1950pro into it so be careful with large vga cooling solutions

Other Thoughts: It wasn't DOA that gets Asus an extra point from me, OEM of my vid card and now mobo :)

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to sound issue..

Pros: Still working well with zero issues after a few months.

Cons: Sound is still crackling badly when I try to pause then press play on any MP3, in both winamp and media player. The crackling also happens a lot in online Java based browser types of games.

Other Thoughts: Still happy with the board, it doesn't crackle when I play any normal 3D games (doom3, CNC3, BF 2142, etc etc..). As soon as I can afford it I will buy a sound card though.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic board

Pros: Worked out of the box, no BIOS update needed. VERY FAST. Typical of Asus hardware. Very pleased

Cons: The only reason I gave it a 4. Though I blame myself for not doing enough research: the board is capable of handling many types of memory. I use Crucial Tech. Unfortunately, that is the ONE type that the board cannot handle in a dual-channel configuration.

Other Thoughts: Since I did buy great memory, I can use it elsewhere and just get the Corsair instead. In the future I will d/l the mobo manual before buying memory.
