You've picked out your processor, video card and memory, and now you need a powerful mobo to put it all together. Asus Premium Vista Edition socket AM2 board supports up 8GB of DDR2 memory. The variety of ports and expansion slots is impressive, but they are all in the spec section and chances are if you need it, this board has it, including 2 PCI-e x16 slots that will stay at full x16 speed in SLI mode.

Since this is an Ai Lifestyle board, you get some great extras. The Screen Duo is a secondary TFT screen that can display RSS feeds, information about your PC, Outlook email and contacts, play an image slideshow, and control iTunes or Windows Media Player. A wireless remote lets you launch applications and play media quickly. The Superbeam Array Microphone is extremely directional so it only picks up what's in its reception cone.

Intelligent overclocking makes it easy to get the most out of your system. The AI clock skew automatically skews signal timing, for a 10-15% memory boost. Precision Tweaker allows incremental voltage and frequency adjustments to the processor memory and bus. The AI NOS dynamically overclocks your system giving it the boost it needs, as it needs it. Asus continues to develop new solutions for your computing needs. Find yours!

Cons: bios needed to be updated right away couldnt get vista 64 to start with 4gigs of ram had to use 2gigs then update bios then no issues after that

Other Thoughts: if you are planning on useing this board with the zalman 9700 and large ram like the corsair xms2 be aware that its a little tight but all those things are huge so thats to be expected all great stuff though

4 out of 5 eggsSolution to 4 GB ram Vista Error!!!

Pros: People this board rocks! The only problem i had was the installing 4 Gigs of ram on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Well there is a solution! Update your bios to version 603... don't update to anything new because the new ones are BETA, stay away! When you install Vista you can only install with 2 GIGS of ram. Than go to microsofts website and find the 64 bit memory PATCH... patch it, stick in the other 2 gigs of ram and you can boot right to desktop with no blue screen of death!

Cons: Read pros

Other Thoughts: 6400 black, 4 gigs patriot 2.2v, vista ultimate 64 bit (it flies. Decent system setup... kinda wish i went with the spider platform.

4 out of 5 eggsWarheads (Sweet w/ Sour candy shell)

Pros: I'm not too keen on motherboards so all I can say is that it's holding everything I need nicely.

Cons: Only thing was the more than 3GB RAM issue with Vista 64bit, I mean it states it can support 8GB but once you go over 3GB than expect crashes. Though there is a solution, read DeucexTrouble's review on this product here (click the 4 rating reviews you should find his there), or you can search for the update BIOS version 603.

Other Thoughts: It's great and all but I wish it would have came with that BIOS update or something.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality MB

Pros: It was a pleasure working with this board. It really is premium and you not only can see it in the construction but feel it when you are working with it.
So many features that I like and many more that I was surprised about when I received it.
A truly impressive piece of technology.

Cons: Two complaints:
1-VISTA would not load on it until I updated the bios. The instructions in the manual were not very clear on how to do this and it took a while to figure it out. But once I figured it out it was easy and I can tell you they could do a much better job in explaining this. But don't let this turn you off as it can be successfully done.
2-A premium board such as this should have 3 USB headers not just 2. There is room for a USB3 header on the MB. I would like to have a third USB header as it will make it easier to install an internal media reader. I am solving the problem by eliminating the supplied two USB rear panel mount and installing a PCI USB card with 4 external ports and one internal port. This will give me a few extra USB ports along with freeing up the USB header for other uses.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to purchase a quality PSU compliant with SLI technology. I would be surprised if you buy this board to make a cheap build. You don’t have to have two SLI graphic cards but you will need the correct PSU if you go with one or two graphic cards. If you use only one and plan to upgrade later, do not throw away the supplied jumper, you will need it.

1 out of 5 eggsVista...umm no,so sorry.

Pros: NewEgg let me RMA it and order a EVGA680i board and a quad core intel.

Cons: this board comes with an outdated bios and Vista will not even let your system boot up. Asus tech support is a joke, they told me to go to the library or a friends house and download the current bios to a bootable disc or a floppy drive, great solution guys. this is the "Vista premium edition board", how in g*ds name do they send it out with a bios that will not work with VISTA!!

Other Thoughts: will never even consider another asus product.

5 out of 5 eggsWon't load Vista 64bit with 4gb RAM

Pros: Easy Install, easy BIOS update

Cons: There are 6 SATA ports on the MB, and 2 of them are blocked with a second video card running in SLI mode.

Other Thoughts: I built a new computer, using Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition. AMD 6400 X2 3.2ghz, two Nvidia 8800GT in SLI. When I try to add an additional 2gb memory, windows fails to load every time. I am not sure if this is due to the MB or Windows.
