Great Board
- Pros: This is a great board. It is laid out well, installation was a breeze, and the computer booted up on the first try. Shipped with the latest (1013) BIOS, and had no problems with my Q6700 and 4GB of OCZ RAM. The Zalman 9500 HSF fit on it perfectly and looks great too. The Q-connector made wiring to the case a cinch. The Marvell LAN port is very fast, and the latest drivers were on the CD. I'm running VISTA 64 and so far everything is running perfectly.
- Cons: A large vid card like the 8800 GTX or newer from NVidia will partially block two of the SATA connectors. Make sure to buy cables with at least one right-angle plug on them.
- Other Thoughts: Once again, Asus saved my bacon. This is the second faulty mobo of other brands that I have replaced with Asus, and they have never let me down. When will I ever learn?
- Pros: Built a q6600 system with this board and extremely pleased. Overclocks like a dream. Running at 3.2GHz rock solid for several months now.
- Cons: Not a con for me since I don't need it but don't forget that intel doesn't support sli.
- Other Thoughts: Been an asus fan for years and this is another fine product.
Perfect
- Pros: Good chipset with very fast USB2, good layout, AI Nap, Vista native driver support, fast boot time, typical for ASUS OC options, Supported every memory stick I trew in it(Gskill, A-DATA, Kingston..) Rock stable in x64 Vista: Keep it in sleep mode with MC recordings for weeks without reboot. ALL SATA are hot-swappable (although sometimes it takes looking for hardware changes to detect drive promtly in Vista)
- Cons: None.
Either I'm lucky this time or ASUS fixed ISSUE with north bridge power failure that I had twice with P5B-deluxe
- Other Thoughts: I wasted $230 on P5B deluxe which kept failing north bridge and after 2nd RMA I bought this one that has the same features minus remote control. P5K-E is perfect with 65Wt Core 2 duo. A-DATA RAM & ATI HD2600. I don't overclock - like it cool & silent.
