5 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: recognized all my parts without any problems, RAID was a PiTA, but that is normal when setting a RAID boot drive.
quite fast with an E8500 @ stock (for now)
all in all, very impressed, CPU temps havent broken 36c after 4 hrs of testing with an arctic chill CPU cooler. really looking to push this chip beyond the 4 ghrz mark, previously couldnt get it stable above 3.8 on the 680i I was using before.

Cons: only con is the NB (reads a motherboard temp) is extremely HOT !
53c as I type this... chipset cooler that comes with the mobo would probably help a ton with that temp, but wont fit next to the arctic chill cooler without some minor modifications (which Ill do over the wknd) if it makes a difference, I'll update.

Other Thoughts: I havent owned the board really long enough to give a perfect review, but Im pretty certain its a solid board, the person I bought it off ran it for a yr and never experienced any problems. but then again, I wont be running with the onboard LAN or sound, and neither did he :)

3g pc26400 (5-4-4-15) in dual.
2x raptorX in a stripped array (RAID_0) (about 7 minutes from start to finish installing winXP)
DLink 10/100/10000 NiC
Sb 7.1 sound

1 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Looks real Good

Cons: 3rd Board now I have to send back to ASUS. Super Unstable, don't even think of over clocking. My goodness, No more ASUS junk for me.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts, why not. Torture test crashes the heck out of this thing, serious heat problem even idle. Under clocking everything makes it run better but it still crashes with no error messages.

1 out of 5 eggsNYEAAAAR

Pros: Doesn't spontaneously fall apart

Cons: Memory is unsupported, had to buy new sticks twice before I found something that worked. ALL side-facing SATA ports is an unfortunate thing indeed with Antec cases, have to bend cables quite uncomfortably to get them to the right places. BIOS updating software seems to be inherently stupid, is incapable of realizing there is a new BIOS update available, even after pointing it to hte update file manually. Network drivers do not play well at all with a certain p2p exchange type, meaning I'm forced to do remote downloading through my dell (sigh) upstairs. Overclocking I can only reach 3.2 with my Q6600 before things get shaky, which is rather ridiculous. I've also had graphics issues I really just want to pin on this sucker so I can feel like all my problems are in one place. I've had crashes on and off for months now. They disappear just long enough to make me think its stable again, then on come the crashes again, leading to another couple days of diagnostic testing and migraine.

Other Thoughts: Thank goodness I'm not the only one who feels this way about this board. This thing is ridiculous. ASUS, if I hadn't had good times before this, I'd switch right now.

4 out of 5 eggsTook too long to fix the problems

Pros: This motherboard pretty much does what it says it will.

Cons: It took them over half a year to do that.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2x2GB of Mushkin DDR2-800, reportedly capable of being run at much higher speeds. I was aware of the previous reviews stating complications, but figured I would give this a shot anyway. With the last BIOS they released back in March, I still had to underclock the RAM to keep from crashing repeatedly, and barely even got that BIOS installed in the first place. However, a month ago, they released a new BIOS. I've been using it for over a day (including some serious gaming) and haven't had a single hitch. It also fixed a massive CPU temp reporting inaccuracy (they call it a tweak). I probably won't buy ASUS again, second time I've had issues like this, but I was drawn to the EPU...

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: I have had nothing but trouble with this board from day one. even with the newest bios (1001) all i can do is get it to lock up. and yes my timings and voltage are all corect for my mem could never get my corsair dominator 1066 i cant keep it runing for more than 10 or 15 min
but it runs fine in my XFX board with the same chipset.
even now with the corsair dominator 800 it locks up from time to time.
so i would stay away from this board and i dont even want to talk abot the cpu issues i had with my Q6700.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board

Pros: I was one of the first people to buy this board from the Egg back in January.Ive been using it for 6 months now,and ever since the last bios"1001"was released,my ocing has greatly improved.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My setup:E8400,P5NT-Deluxe Board,4gigsOCZ 1066,pair of BFG 8800GTS 512 cards SLI,pair of Raptor 150Gb's in RAID 0,PC Power&Cooling 750PSU,Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro7 CPU Cooler,Antec 900 Case,X-Fi platinum sound card setup.I can run my 8400@4.05Ghz,FSB&1800,stable all day long while gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Revision!

Pros: The newest revision is great. Out of the box with bios 1001 there were no problems. Very stable and easily supports my pc8500 corsair ram. Don't let the first edition of this board deter you from buying it. It is NOW a diamond in the rough of bad reviews from when it was first released.

Cons: My only beef is that it does not overclock very high. Was able to get my Q6600 to 3.2 stable, but beyond that its a rough ride. I foresee a bios update to take care of this problem in the near future!

Other Thoughts: Its a very stable board that does not have the common 780i heat problems !

2 out of 5 eggsWork for 2 months

Pros: Worked like a dream for a short time after initial BIOS problems were resolved. Nice board layout.

Cons: Kept power cycling upon startup for some reason. Had to flash BIOS before it would even stay on long enough to let me install OS. After the BIOS update, seemed to work really well for about a month. After that month, however, I started to receive random cheksum errors and the system would power cycle for no reason. It would take several reboots until it would work again. 2 months after I got it, it got to the point where it was erroring out and power-cycling on it's own every time I tried to start it up. 2 months after purchase, I am having to replace it.

Other Thoughts: I have read many reviews, and all seem to say the same thing: works great as long as you can get past the BIOS issues. If you buy, I would strongly suggest the service plan so that you don't get stuck with a non-functional MB a couple of months after you buy it. Combined with a Q6600 processor, 2 EVGA 8800 GTS 512MB factory-OC'd video cards, Raptor HD, and 8MB Crucial Ballistix RAM, should have been a great PC.

5 out of 5 eggsI Got Lucky

Pros: So far stable and fast, no problems. Running SLI and Penryn(Q9300) CPU and Patriot extreme PC8500 SLI memory out the box with no problem.

Cons: none so far, it's just a shame the earlier revision tarnished this board and will probably stop a lot of people from getting this.

Other Thoughts: After reading some of the other reviews before mine arrived I was a bit worried but the board I received was the newest revision and already had the 1001 bios installed.

5 out of 5 eggsterrible mobo

Pros: I got a refund.

Cons: wasted my time trying to make it work properly.

Other Thoughts: This was the most expensive and worse asus mobo i have ever owned. I have had at least a dozen different asus models, and this was my worse experience ever. You will be sorry if you plan on getting a good overclock on this mobo. Accually, It was unstable bone stock also, forget the oc.
