2 out of 5 eggsIt has kept running but barely

Pros: I've run this board from near its inception. It's still running today, but I have learned to live with its idiosyncrasies.

Cons: It has never clocked the RAM up anywhere near the 1600 Mhz limit. It chooses 1066, and that's about all it likes. The board has a weird way of going comatose upon sleeping. If you touch any device with USB input as it's shutting down, it wakes in an alternate reality where it refuses to do much that's worthwhile. Only a full battery pull on the MB resets the BIOS, and then I have to reconfigure it upon immediately restart so that it can find my hard drives in RAID configuration, otherwise those separate and make a mess. Finally, there are many times after prolonged states in an out of sleep where it just refuses to admit it has any relation to the wi-fi network. It claims to see it, but it requires connecting the cat-5 to the board direct for it to come back around and admit it knows what that the wi-fi is acceptable again.

Other Thoughts: After having several ASUS board experiences in the past that have resulted in quirkiness and bad behavior, I'll look elsewhere next time. I've built systems for others in the years since this purchase, and I've been impressed at nearly every other system besides my own. Even though mine is still running, every few months I sit back and browse, wondering what it would be like to spend a few more hard earned dollars on a satisfying setup and abandon this one.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looked great on paper with all of it's listed features.

Cons: I bought this board when it first came out so no real world performances were available. Stability issues all the time, I bought so many types of memory to try and correct the problems with no avail. For this reason I will never purchase another Asus product.

1 out of 5 eggsOn and off so far

Pros: Runs great.....while running :-/

Cons: I have been plagued with shutdowns and freezes since I installed this mobo. All timing and voltages have been set manually, and then to auto to try and correct the problem, but to no avail. I will say that I have been using Mushkin ram which isn't shown to be compatible but SHOULD have had no problem since they are identical to some of the compatible ram shown.

Other Thoughts: I have bought a new set of CORSAIR XMS3 8GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) which is DIERECTLY off of the Asus website as a compatible ram set so we will see.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Unstable

Pros: Has a lot of great options available with it.

Cons: Extremely unstable. See Other Thoughts:

Other Thoughts: BIOS updates don't fix a majority of the memory issues, system is still extremely unstable and RMA service by Asus is a headache and a half. If you value not having your time wasted, do NOT purchase this motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggs16X Video Dream!

Pros: I went from an ASUS Maximums Formula Limited to this board because I have 2 16X cards. I could not justify the purchase of a quad core system as there are virtually no programs that use it that I am interested in. For once the hardware is ahead of the software. To my amazement I dropped the board in and for a laugh I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to boot to Vista 64 Ultimate with the prior boards drivers. It recognized my raid 0 drives and booted! I did have to drop in the motherboard install disk and have had no problems for over a week.

Cons: It is a socket 775 board that requires DDR3 ram.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing performance

Pros: Enough slots for what I need, decent slot arrangement and works at stock settings.

Cons: Memory stability. Everything that any other review has posted about how picky this board is with different memory sticks and how each BIOS revision fails to fix the issue is 100% correct.

If you're not using RAM with Samsung based modules on them, then don't expect stability even with the latest BIOS F/W. Took me awhile to figure this one out, and very disappointed that it's an issue that has yet to be fixed.

Have yet to get anything with serious stability, and I'll be getting some other board as I'm done with putting up with this one. I advise others to do the same.

5 out of 5 eggsgood board

Pros: gobs of slots and connections to make customizing easy, easy overclocking settings built right into the bios, onboard operating system makes building from scratch easier, looks good, has good heat dissipation fins around the cpu, great wifi card built in, has power and reset buttons right on it to make building from scratch easier still.

Cons: possibly too many bios options for overclocking with the ability to set voltage and timing possibly dangerously high. might not be good for people who only think they know what they're doing, unskilled techs should keep the overclocking settings on auto at all times.

Other Thoughts: red power button on board and green reset button are always lit, even in standby mode, kind of clashes with my all black case with all blue lights but not noticeable enough to be a con.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems, do your homework

Pros: Easy install. No issues. Fastest and coolest (temp) machine I've built to date.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: You always have to do your homework before you buy. Check the specifications on the motherboard, CPU, memory, hard disk, video card, etc... It took me 2~3 months to research and buy all the parts to put this together. Operates flawless and CPU temperature is cool.

1 out of 5 eggsBigtime Stability Issues

Pros: Nice chipset stock cooling.

Cons: Plagued by stability issues from day 1 with recommended memory and PSU. Own 5 of these and only 1 is remotely stable. Even that one will not go a week at work without a 2 or 3 random resets. Updating bios, updating drivers, trying vista over XP, nothing has helped.
Trying to Crossfire or SLI means the system quickly becomes 100% inoperable.

Other Thoughts: I've always had really good experiences with Asus boards in the past. This one REALLY let me down. These were meant to be for 5 high end workstations and instead have sat unused after 3 months of constant crashes and frustrated users.
