3 out of 5 eggsP5QL/EPU

Pros: Great board working with dual core.

Cons: Tried to upgrade after 6 months to a q8300 quad core and that where everything started to fail. No matter what O/S I tried it kept giving me the BSOD, memory didn’t work as dual channel anymore. Spoke to ASUS Tech and they blamed the CPU but I also tried Q9300 and Q8400 and the same problem. Tried diff. memory eyc., etc
Called Asus back and they told to return the M/B back. they sent me back the same M/B I sent them with under clocked memory to 400mhz ( I have 8gbs at 800mhz) and now the Q8300 reads it at 1.6mhz and it is suppose to be 2.5mhz. Last time I called I spoke to a level 1 tech support and he transferred me to a level two

Other Thoughts: Like I said it’s a great board if you’re going to use a single core, if you decide to upgrade be careful. Maybe it’s just my bad luck.

4 out of 5 eggsN82E16813131393

Pros: Slots are all in the right place able to insert tv tuner card above PCI-e slot for maximum airflow in Antec Illusion case. Stable and fast at stock speeds. Windows 7 gives memory and Q8300 CPU a 7.4 each and 7.6 for 2D/3D Evga GTX 460.

Cons: Can't get much of an overclock with this motherboard but that may be as much my memory Kingston 2.3 volt 1066 and/or CPU which has only a 7.5 multiplier. Heard that this CPU will do 4 gigabytes at 1.5 volts, board only goes to 1.3 without voltage offsets. Able to get a 20% overclock by uping clock frequency to 400Mhz. Will do 30% but will not boot after shut down.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a great board would like to see what this processor would do in a Turbo Pro though. This rig is almost as fast as an I7 for less than half the price. Waiting for SSD's to come down to less than a dollar a gig then I'll get rid of the bottlenecks commonly called hard drives.

1 out of 5 eggsP5QL/EPU no luck with it

Pros: 4 dimm slot, many sata with IDE that you still can use your old IDE HD or DVD rom.

Cons: I purchased it from some where it only works for me two week. after this it always blue screen, check it is memory slot problem. Dimm slot B not working at all, can't run dual channel. After you insert memory to slot B won't boot. Ok, do RMA no problem. wait 3 weeks got a new MB back, however, it still won't boot at all when run in dual channel with different Good DDR2 800 memory. I am so lucky got 2 bad P5QL from Asus and need to waste money to do RMA again and again.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Board

Pros: Very good realiable board i have been using this 4 almost 2 months now have never had a problem,
rock solid.

Cons: not very good overclocking i could only achieve a 10% oc on pentium D 3.2 Ghz only got to 3.54 and became somewhat unstable at that level but at normal speed does ok

Other Thoughts: i would recomend this to the average user not interested in overclocking or extreme gaming

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, super price

Pros: Very happy with the BIOS, easy overclock, was 0 trouble to get up and running. No heat issues running intensive games.
windows7 64bit
Intel Core 2 Duo
8GB PQI DDR2 800

Cons: placement of SATA and PATA ports is pretty incovnenient. I installed a full size video card (GTX 465) and the sata cables are pretty tight against it it, had to string pata over the top of it, so now its a little bit of an airflow issue. That could just be my case layout, though.

Other Thoughts: Depending on the layout of your case and the size of PCI cards (particularly giant video cards) , access to some ports are tight. Other than that, it's a pretty nice board, especially for the price

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good.

Pros: I'm happy I bought this motherboard. For anyone who wants to stick with good old 775, this mobo is the best in it's class in terms of bang to the buck. It booted up perfectly the first time I had everything in place correctly* (see cons). The bios is pretty nice, very organized.

Cons: One bad thing- it requires a p4 connector (square with 4 pins), and the power supply I bought didn't have one. Not a problem I expected to run into, as most desktop motherboards only require the 24-pin connector, p4 usually only appears in server mobos. But as soon as I ordered "StarTech 6in LP4 to P4 Auxiliary Power Cable Adapter" and plugged it in, I was completely fine.

Other Thoughts: I guess it was sort of my fault that I didn't catch that, but it's not like there was any big heads-up in the description.

This board looks a lot prettier in real life than you might assume.

5 out of 5 eggsGood fix

Pros: Good MB and has enough PCI slots to add a USB 3 and Sata III card. Not a big jump form a P5N-E SLI but enough to start adding hardware for a move to 7i processor down the road. Slill waiting for the routers to add the USB 3 standard and some dual drive USB 3 external drive housings.

Cons: As before in the [auto] mode the bios does not pick up on my 8 GB OCZ 800 memory runs it at 667 instead but what's new.

Other Thoughts: Setup was quick from start until all Win 7 64 bit drivers installed and some testing was completed, 3 hours. The bios on this board is much better the that of the old P5N-E SLI

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Works fine as advertised

Cons: The system was rock stable for about 2 days and then after the little toddler press the power or reset button, the system started crashing and at times wouldn't even boot up. After some time, it started working again. I'm not sure if it was the case or the MB since the case was pathetically cheap too. Anyways, it's rock stable now for a few weeks, so...

Other Thoughts: Q6600
4 GB DDR2 800 RAM
HD 4550 video card
500 Watt 80% certified PSU

5 out of 5 eggsDoes its job well

Pros: On board audio works great, high quality
Does its job well

Cons: None to think of

Other Thoughts: I've had this board for just over a year and I've been very pleased. It's done it's job perfectly, has all the features I need, never had a problem expanding. I'm no audiophile, but the on board audio is really good to boot. I would definitely recommend this board to anyone.
