2 out of 5 eggsLame onboard audio, LAN died

Pros: It works? BIOS is pretty feature-full and easy to use.

Cons: Back-ground noise in front-panel headphones no matter what I do. I have, through various experiments, confirmed that the fault is with the motherboard itself. Also sometimes the audio doesn't work when waking up from "sleep" mode. The onboard LAN stopped working several months after purchase and bam there goes a PCI slot.

Other Thoughts: I wish I'd sent it back after I discovered the front-panel audio fault. Onboard LAN can just be put down as luck of the draw I suppose.

4 out of 5 eggsin response to: in a response to "should be better"

Pros: overall a great board, with lots of tweakability

Cons: I understand where you're coming from, but I was unable to adjust the RAM timings to create a working build. I did find something useful, however. The sticks work both in single channel (opposite colored slots) but when put in dual channel fail to POST. I know each of the sticks work. They are DDR3 1333 Kingston hyperX ram modules 4x2gig. Each was tested individually, and all sticks are good, but refuse to boot in dual channel.

I fully updated the bios, but with no luck to the RAM issues. ASUS has offered no support through calling, and emailing, they said the same things, as have been said on random internet tech forums, none of which helped. This is currently the only issue I've had, but it's a pretty big one in my books, so I still can't give the board a 5 egg. It did get one more egg for allowing the single channel, and finally will get a 5 egg, once I figure the problem out. It is a great board, just giving me troubles.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Value

Pros: Flawless performance, excellent value. Powered USB ports during sleep mode allows me to wake the computer with a keystroke.

Cons: Express Gate is not functioning, could likely be fixed with a BIOS update.

Other Thoughts: Express Gate is a simple web browser that you can access without booting up your OS. Because I rarely shut down my computer (it's in sleep mode), I don't use this function.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsom Mobo

Pros: Great motherboard and for the price you cant beat it.The cool thing about the board is i am able to unlock cores in the bios. :) noticed all the ram and my cpu right away.Crossfire wow thats a plus,Most boards at this price only have one pci-e.Good amount of sata ports. The e-sata is cool, and the board is DDR-3.Could not ask for better quality from this board, for the price.Asus is the best!

Cons: The pci-e are close to the pci and will cover it if you have a big video card, but i dont use pci any ways.

Other Thoughts: Sick motherboard
Best build in ever
It is DDR-3 and is socket Am3 :)

4 out of 5 eggsResponse for " should be better"

Pros: Roughly 2 months now and happy to report 0 motherboard related issues except the sound problems mentioned below. Plenty of BIOS options, sturdy contruction, ESATA is a nice touch. I'm the guy who had a defective RAM stick as posted earlier, it was the RAM as suspected and the MB has been rock solid.

Cons: VIA audio drivers, even the most current ones, created repeated BSOD problems. Resolved by uninstalling them and letting Windows 7 64 bit install it's own microsoft HD audio. No problems since then.

Other Thoughts: In response to "should be better"--First you might try updating the motherboard BIOS, they fixed some memory compatibility issues with the most recent BIOS update. Second, a known issue with the memory controller, a problem of the CPU not the motherboard, can cause problems when running 4 sticks at once, not sure if it's your problem but worth a try. Go into your BIOS and slow down the ram to 1066, and set the timings best for your brand at that speed (7 7 7 18? 7 7 7 20? 8 8 8 20? Depends on your brand) command rate 2T and try it then. Since I don't know what RAM you have you're on your own to find the right timing.

3 out of 5 eggsshould be better

Pros: seems like a pretty sturdy board, good speeds, lots of expansion, xfx works flawlessly

Cons: may not be a con, may be me being an idiot, but I can't get the system to POST with more than one stick of ram connected. I have windows 7 ultimate x64, and 8gb of ram. 3 of those 2gig sticks are left in the package because when anymore thanone (and they were all tested individually and worked) plugged in makes the system fan speed up and slow down repeatedly with no screen image and no beeping from the system speaker. help would be appreciated

5 out of 5 eggsBoard for me

Pros: Price, slots and upgradability

Cons: it was cheaper

Other Thoughts: After a long time of wanting to upgrade my MB, CPU and RAM, i finally did. I love this board and it is every easy to understand some BIOS stuff. Board has tons of slots and i really love the crossfire. (not using that part...yet!)

Upgraded from...
Foxconn NF4SK8AA-8KRS to Asus M4A77TD Pro
AMD DualCore 2.2GHz to AMD QuadCore 2.8GHz
Kingston DDR PC3200 to Kingston DDR3 PC10600

5 out of 5 eggsASUS M4A77TD Pro Motherboard

Pros: Motherboard swapped into old box no problem, combined it with an AMD Phenom II X2 545 processor @ 3.0ghz.

Great motherboard for unlocking additional cores! After downloading the newest BIOS version from ASUS's website and updating the BIOS, I unlocked to triple-core with -0- issues. Flawlessly functioning motherboard!

Cons: Zero Cons thus far. Only that it's a MIR; not instant.

Other Thoughts: Box:
ASUS M4A77TD Pro
AMD Phenom II X2 545 @ 3.0ghz [unlocked to triple-core]
OCZ Obsidian 2x2GB DDR3 1600mhz Ram
ASUS EAH4870 1GB Dark Knight GPU

5 out of 5 eggsReally good value

Pros: Really great board, reliable, great value! Can't say enought about it.

Cons: Umm... not much... only 2 fan ports + heatsink port? If that matters, my case only needs 2 fans so I'm alright. Just little things like that.

Other Thoughts: Will buy again!
