Dissapointed - Update
- Pros: Great board and feature set
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous review where the motherboard died after 3 days. Newegg replaced the board in about a week. The system has been rebuilt as stated before - CoolerMaster Cosmos S case, 8 GB DDR3 PC1600/2000 memory, CoolerMaster V8 cpu cooler, etc. The BIOS has been re-flashed with the Nov 12 update and all the ASUS drivers have been loaded. The system has been running 24 hours a day now for over 4 days. I used the ASUS software to tweek the speed/performance up a bit and yet the system continues to idle between 79 and 84 degrees F. I ran the Prime95 to stress all the cores and it maxed at 148 degrees F which I am very pleased with given that CPU maxes out around 212. All in all I am quite happy with the system running Windows 7 ultimate in 64 bit mode. This is the first (and hopefully last) bad MB I have ever gotten from ASUS. At this point all I can say is that Newegg and ASUS rock!
Nice board for a great price
- Pros: Clean layout, good quality, rock solid, lots of features for the price. Love the MemOK! feature and especially the Q-connect. Genius!
It has everything I needed and nothing I didn't; no CF or SLI in my plans so the one PCI-e X16 was plenty. Overall an excellent value.
- Cons: Nothing worth taking an egg off for.
- Other Thoughts: The side facing SATA ports have their use; however, after building my latest rig, i guess I'd prefer all up-facing ports, but I made it work. I don't care for the color scheme of this one but when it's in the case who cares.
I've built three systems over the last 5 or so years and used Asus boards for all three. I never had a problem.

Nice Processor
- Pros: Fast, relatively cheap, and quite a step up from my A64 4200. Relatively easy to install; Stock cooler is fine if you don't plan to OC.
- Cons: I'll echo everyone else sentiments - if you want to OC the stock HSF is lacking. (Always funny watching the temp shoot up running Prime95.) But I'm not an OC'er so it'll do until I find the right replacement. I'm mostly interested in lower temps during gaming.
- Other Thoughts: First new build in about 4 years. Got this for gaming and some video work I plan on starting. Didn't care for the push pins on HSF mount. I just need to get a new cooler and 5870. C'mon AMD!
