4 out of 5 eggsCool, but

Pros: None of my components conflicted in terms of layout.

Cons: The I/O panel is extremely touchy. I will lose internet, mouse usage, and monitor display, and I have to go through a series of taking out cords and plugging them back in. Sometimes I just need to restart and then it works. It's really annoying.

Other Thoughts: How do you get a hold of ASUS warranty centers?

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Express Gate - allows you to get on Internet without loading OS.
Compatible with i5 Lynnfield. Make sure to check compatibility with RAM.
Supports intel turbo boost.
BIOS is nifty

Cons: RAM slots are a little too close to the CPU. If you want to put an aftermarket fan on the CPU, make sure it will fit next to your ram first (and in your case too). OV switch on the RAM was in the on position when I received it, advise turning off.

Other Thoughts: It died on me after 2 weeks. Going to RMA it. It was working just fine prior to that. Here is my setup:

CPU: i5 Lynnfield
GPU: Radeon 5870
RAM: G. Skill 2x2GB
PSU: Corsair 750TX
Case: Antec 900 (great mid size case)

4 out of 5 eggsMake sure you update the BIOS.

Pros: -Easy installation, the quick connector block for the front panel connections makes everything so much faster to set up. The RAM slots are neat too; they only have one clip each rather than two.

-Three PCI-e x16 slots

-Side-facing SATA and IDE ports make for much cleaner wiring.

Cons: -You HAVE to update the BIOS to the most recent version if you want a stable system. Windows wouldn't recognize my wireless adapter and would hang constantly until I updated the BIOS. Now everything works nearly perfectly. BIOS flashing is extremely simple, luckily. The manual has all the answers.

-The included software is useless bloatware, but all motherboards come with this kind of stuff. It might be useful to some people, but I just don't need it.

-The audio takes awhile to set up, and VIA's control panel is confusing, even compared to Realtek's. I don't know why these companies can't hire professionals to design these programs. You might want to invest in a dedicated sound card if you care about sound quality and/or have some nice speakers.

-It takes awhile to POST, even with quick boot.

-The board doesn't like IDE DVD drives. You'll get a nagging error at every boot, even though nothing's actually wrong. Invest in a SATA drive---it's 2010,

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty good board---once you get it configured. It would get five eggs if it were perfect out-of-the-box, but it just isn't. Still, with a little tweaking, it works just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy setup and OC for beginners

Pros: Everything is pretty self explanitory. BIOS is easy to navigate and comes with a few programs that makes overclocking even easier for beginners. The TurboV EVO program works like champ.

Cons: My 1 video card (gtx 460) covers up and pretty much makes all the PCI-E slots unusable. Puts a damper on my wireless ethernet card; hence 4 stars. Small con, but noteworthy. I'd give 4 1/2 eggs if I could...

Other Thoughts: I installed 8GB of Gskill 1600 RAM and when i orginally booted up, Windows read 8GB installed 4GB useable. BIOS only recognized 4GB. The fix for this after hours of searching online forums and eveyone assuming I had a bad RAM stick, I reseated the CPU. When you reboot, the MB will detect that you have "installed a new CPU" and all 8GB will be recognized. Almost everyone that had this problem had some version of this MB, so I guess its a common issue with the p7p55d boards

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board. Well made

Pros: Gread job for Asus. I owned a P5GD1-VM from Asus for 8 years and still runing but now was the time to upgrade to a new technology...

This Motherboard is well made. The bios is easly configurable.

Runs fine with G SKILL ripjaws 2x2GB and I5-760 from Intel using XMP profile.

Cons: There was no FOAM under the motherboard in the box... To protect.

The switch in the Right top corner for Extreme memory overclocking was ON by default. Noticed this before starting my machine and turned it off. You should pay attention since it is write in the guide by default off...

Other Thoughts: Run great
