Asus has a regular rep for creating high performance motherboards, and the Asus P5LD2 is no exception. Designed to support the Pentium 4 and D CPUs, the sterling Intel 945 chipset supports a 1066 MHz FSB and up to 4GB of dual-channel DDR2 667/533/400 memory, which, when combined with the board’s ability for on-delay AI-NOS overclocking and the Asus Lock Free system, ramps system performance to new heights, based on system loads.

This amazing board supports wireless LAN, PCI-E, Gigabit LAN, HD-Audio and SATA II/IDE RAID. Additional cards will allow you to get WiFi TV, as well! On-board audio support and connections help you build a true multimedia monster. With the Precision Tweaker Technology, you’re completely ready to manipulate your board in every way possible. With features nearly comparable to Asus’ top of the line offering for much less, this is an excellent purchase!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing performance for low $$.

Pros: Great BIOS (1804), great performance, great features, great stability and great overclocking features.

Cons: Overclocking on this board (past 299MHz FSB) requires that you boost PCIe frequency by FSB/3, plus one or two. Also, it looks like Asus isn't publishing any new BIOS--but this isn't necessarily bad, because 1804 is a great, stable BIOS.

Other Thoughts: Running an Intel E4300 C2D (stock 1.8GHz) at 3.19GHz (354x9), PCIe set to 119MHz. G.Skill PC5300 running at 442.7 (5-5-5-12). Fast, stable overclock on a GREAT Asus motherboard. Fast shipping from Newegg--thank you!!!

2 out of 5 eggsWARNING: Pentium D 950 problems

Pros: Decent when it works. Always slow to boot, even with unused options disabled. First boot aftger assy. often fails with no POST, trying again works.

Cons: I've bought at least 6, and every one does not work at all with Pentium D 950. A replacement BIOS chip is required from Asus. This time around, Asus insists on charging me for shipping the chips! So I paid $20 for overnight - and still NO POST at all, the system is completely dead. PCMall won't take a return, so the boards (2) have to be sent in for repair at my shipping expense, 10 day turn around! Ouch. After HOURS spent with tech support.

Other Thoughts: Choose another model, maybe another manufacturer. There's just not enough reason to buy this one (I bought "P5LD2 Deluxe"), when there are others available that actually work out of the box.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat harware, bios issues.

Pros: This is a pretty standard setup for a 775 board without the option for hacked SLI/Crossfire. Most recent bios includes support for the 45nm C2Ds. Easy to set up and run with out of the box.

Cons: 1. The bios has issues, such as changing clock settings causing hangs on any restart action. Also, the board is a little thinner than I'm used to(DFI user), so it flexes disturbingly easily. Durability of LAN/testing rig is a little doubtfull.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I think this board will be ok for any non-enthusiest user. It is rediculously easy to get up and running with. If you want to overclock or tweak a system, go for an Asus P5B deluxe. p965 chipset and stable bioses.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems Problems Problems

Pros: It's small so it should fit in almost any case... however..

Cons: I read a few different reviews with the same problem. I booted up the system and initially it froze on me during the bios configuration. I unplugged everything from the board except my ps2 keyboard, video, power and continued.. after about 15minutes, it froze again! Finally I was able to get the win Xp pro install running but it froze during the installation and would not boot back up. I'm about to box this thing up and send it back for a replacement of a different board.

Other Thoughts: STAY AWAY

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Excellent board with all the bells and whistles that i have come to expect on any other Asus board. Lets me use my Pentium D, and PCI-E 16x video card for the extreme gaming and a 3Gb/s SATA for fast loads. Also i don't overclock anything but the overclocking capabilities in the BIOS look like it would be very easy for people who wanna get every MHz out of thier gaming system.

Cons: When i first loaded up the system i installed the Asus chipset drivers for the onboard LAN. Microsoft Update said they had a newer version of the driver which i DLed and installed. This made my system blue screen and crash frequently when surfing the web. I went to the Asus site and downloaded the newest version of the driver and installed it. No more crashing, but it did become tempremental at one time and nothing could get to the Inet. I had to disable and enable the connection again and it finally worked. That was the only problem i have had thus far.

Other Thoughts: Pretty solid board, Nice price, I paid for rush processing and Newegg got it out by the next day. And UPS got it here on time. I love this site. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsFine Board.

Pros: Good board. Bios came with the latest Version. Nothing Else to say. Well worth the money.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Buy Sata II Cables. Ordered Sata II Drives, saw the board came with cables. Found out there were Sata I. Not a big deal just a heads up to anyone else.

5 out of 5 eggsasus is a blessing

Pros: it has everything except...

Cons: oops, someone forgot to put an inboard pin setup for the camera jack in the front of my case.
something that was not overlooked in my previous asus mobo

Other Thoughts: the price was right for the power. i got dual core without the misery of being stabbed in the wallet

5 out of 5 eggsGood overclocking features, solid performance

Pros: I put this motherboard in my second pc build and found it has some great overclocking features. I was able to overclock a Pentium D 805 to 3.4 GHz with air cooling and no freezes or blue screens of death. Great price for a well stocked mobo.

Cons: I was disappointed to find out that Rev. 2 was released a few weeks after I bought it. Rev 2 allows for Core 2 Duo CPUs. Also, no firewire, it seems difficult to get the features you want all in one package without buying an enthusiast board, and those don't always have the best layouts.

Other Thoughts: I decided to sell the computer I made with this mobob to build a Core 2 Duo PC, but the person who bought it has had no problems and really likes the pc.
