4 out of 5 eggsWas able to upgrade years later

Pros: After years of operation with an Athlon X2 3800+, I was able to upgrade this in early 2014 with a used Athlon II X4 610e. The BIOS update made its recognition trouble-free.

Cons: Upgrading to a good volume of RAM was more troublesome, since it features only two DIMM slots, with a max of 8 GB. I opted for a pair of 2GB DIMMs for a total of 4 GB.

Other Thoughts: I appreciate items that just keep running. This one served as my daily PC for years but has served as a video compressor for the last two years. Now it will be a Linux box with respectable power courtesy of the new PC.

3 out of 5 eggsFair for the price

Pros: Cheap, and moderately powerful when I bought it. it supports the newest Phenom II processors, and though displaying a warning about the processor not being compatible on start up I have never had any trouble with it.
the build also had a 550 watt powersupply 4GB DDR2 800 ram running XP 64bit with 1GB ASUS graphics card which after installing brought the CPU temperature down 10-15 deg F. I was able to get it to run Left 4 Dead, League of Legends, Skyrim, and Fatal Frame to run on full graphics.

While it dosnt have core unlocker and a dedicated clock chip which makes it hard to find overclocking information. How ever I was successful in OC-ing the little Phenom II to 3.1ghz. Though running at a constant 125 deg F with no load I would not suggest this to anyone.

Not a bad motherboard if you need something quick, cheap, and moderately powerful, for a normal every day PC this will do the job

Cons: About a year of having this the motherboard died. Though reasonable because the caps are only rated for 5000 hours of life which being constantly on is not even half that time. I had wished I figured this out before buying a new CPU.

Other Thoughts: I would like to point out that at the time of this posting the motherboard in question is at least 5yrs old now and dosnt even have DDR3 support

5 out of 5 eggsDecent mobo for the price

Pros: Good price, uses ddr2, fits AM3 cpus, good to have for the inlaws and works if my mobo dies for whatever reason, I can still use this as an emergency spare.

Cons: No ddr3 support? Not it's fault if it wants to still support AM2 and AM2+ cpu's which are on the cheap right now.

Other Thoughts: Came with a mobo and was simple and easy to setup.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked well for awhile

Pros: Cool and Quiet lets the board underclock itself to save power when you don't need a lot. It's easily overclocked also, and quite reasonably priced.

Cons: After about 8 months the onboard lan stopped working and about a month later the onboard SATA stopped working also. The board still works, I just need to use a lan and sata card, annoying but not the end of the world.

Other Thoughts: I would have given this card 4 stars if it hadn't started failing on me.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap mobo, no OC'ing

Pros: cheap, comes with the ASUS brand name

Cons: ethernet port stopped working after 5 months, DOES NOT OC AT ALL. I put the CPU and RAM in another motherboard and OC'd without a problem, this one wouldn't even do 10% above stock. Pass if you would like to have the ability to OC at all.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns great after almost a year

Pros: Stable, reliable with Windows 7.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Used this to build a new PC for a friend. It's her first dual-core computer. She has a lot of software installed and reports that the computer is still fast and responsive for whatever she's doing.

4 out of 5 eggsBackward compatibility

Pros: Good backward compatibility. Got this in a combo deal with AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz.

Cons: I didn't need the backward compatibility. DDR2 (not DDR3), only 1000MHz Hyper Transport. Not a bad board, but unclear why this came in the combo?

Other Thoughts: Not as nice as the ASUS M4A78LT-M that came with my next combo deal (love that one).

1 out of 5 eggsCross your fingers when booting

Pros: Worked at first.

Cons: After about a year, it started locking up randomly and not usually under heavy load conditions like games. It was locking up when doing web browsing or just sitting idle. Also, it started locking up during boot after POST. Sometimes it would say it lost the BIOS settings and to enter BIOS setup to restore them.

Other Thoughts: I am very disappointed with this motherboard and brand.

Manufacturer Response:
