3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: It works just like it's supposed to

Cons: It doesn't come with an onboard video chipset. If your graphics car fails, there's no way to hook up a monitor without replacing your graphics card

Other Thoughts: I've used it for a while until my GPU failed in the middle of reinstalling windows. Now, I can't complete my install, and I can't see what I'm doing to finish the install

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for leaving your feedback.

I am sorry you are having issue with your computer setup. Have you confirmed that your display card is working? Make sure the GPU card is firmly plugged into the motherboard. Also confirm that the video cable is not defective and try another cable.

Should you need further help, please let me know, and I would be happy to troubleshoot this issue further for you.

Regards,

Mark

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic except for 1 flaw

Pros: great board, I mean its from Asus, they are in my opinion THE top option for boards under 500.

Cons: BCU....... Why ohhh why would you add this horrible little proccess. I get it, you need it for express gate or whatever its called now -a-days, but if I load windows why would i need this proccess that gets me on the internet pre-boot?

3 out of 5 eggsM4 Family of Motherboards

Pros: The product comes in at the right price, appears to have good features for a middle class board. It is easy to install, is compatiable with the majority of connections needed for this size of installation.

Cons: A thorough check out of the board is needed immediately post-purchase; otherwise what is wrong can't be fixed under warrenty or via RMA. This family of boards appear to have built in issues; 1st board developed problems in the chipset specific to upload/download of files via Eithernet/wired or wireless - because of age (24mo) - this prompted my 2nd purchase. Not testing all components immediately found that when I did have need of the eSATA port; it didn't work. To bad for me.

The quality of the product (quality control at ASUS) appears to be degrading significantly over the past 4 years. I can't afford other such problems.

Other Thoughts: This is a post since I am preparing to replace my M4. I am choosing to go a different path for the reasons sited above. There is also the reason that ASUS does not appear to have a hardened product either. In my environmet; heat and dust are a factor; of which ASUS does not appear to be addressing. As a final straw; they do not provide a board with a TPM header (current technology). As a result, my mission to protect my assets (business, personal, colleague information) is made more challenging.

Anyway; those are my observations based on two ASUS boards from within the family of mobos. While Newegg has always provided me the devices I need; and their business model appears to be working; in the end, it is an ability to receive a quality product with a life span capable of supporting the market. For me, it now appears to be impossible from Newegg (reciving two boards with flaws).

5 out of 5 eggsGood product so far-- ONE note!

Pros: does it's job, etc.

Cons: Here's the thing I didn't realize: in order to use the USB 3.0 drives AS 3.0 drives, you need to install the usb 3.0 software from the included CD. I was worried I had a dud before a friend informed that's what I need to do.
