4 out of 5 eggsSolid motherboard

Pros: Very nice. Well laid out and overclocking is either automated or manual via the ASUS tool.

Cons: Two quibbles. One the manual doesn't mention that you have to close the loop on the power button circuit. I thought it was a short duration. Second the BIOS update tool is not well done. It never worked automatically for me. I had to run it myself.

Other Thoughts: Very pleased with my purchase. ASUS handled out of spec components and never failed...

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 11 months

Pros: It was a very easy install, no problems posting, never overheated even when really working it hard. I thought I had a winner compared to the other buyers who had issues.

Cons: 11 months down the road the on board lan fails.
There goes my theory of getting a winner.
The only reason I give it 2 eggs is because it worked fine for 11 months. Is 11 months the magic number?
Let's see how much trouble it will be to get it replaced

5 out of 5 eggsNothing but ASUS

Pros: Great features, solid motherboard. Unlocked 4th core of AMD Athlon II X3 440 Rana with press of 1 button. Easy to overclock for maximum performance or tune for energy efficiency.

Cons: It doesn't make me lunch.

Other Thoughts: I have been building computers for 15+ years and ASUS is by far my first choice for a solid reliable motherboard. It is the only motherboard that consistently outlasts the other hardware. Running multiple OS's with no driver issues (Windows 7 32/64bit, Ubuntu 11.11 and previous versions, Fedora Security Lab).

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board, bad bundle

Pros: This board is a great starting point for an overhaul of my desktop, particularly on a budget. All the extra features ASUS throws in make it an excellent contender.

This product would easily rank 4 or 5 eggs and I would gush about it for the full 1000 character count if I didn't have the issue below.

Cons: Honestly, the bundle deal I got is the only reason I've rated this board so poorly. The CPU I bought with this board (with an FX-4100 Zambezi) doesn't work with it. I haven't tried flashing the BIOS to see if that'd add in the support, as I do not have another AM3 CPU lying around, but I have begun to suspect that it would not.

Other Thoughts: Neither I, nor Newegg apparently did their due diligence to ensure interoperability between these two products before bundling them. I should probably know better than to trust a retailer to get that completely right, but Newegg has always been a step above everyone else for a long time in my book. They've earned my trust.

I've RMA'd this board for a refund and getting something compatible with that CPU, but honestly, I rather wish I didn't have to. This board is kind of awesome like that.

1 out of 5 eggsCome on Newegg!

Pros: Can't tell yet...

Cons: Purchased this board along with an AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz processor since it was a combo deal from newegg. It doesn't appear this board is even compatible with this processor. I can't get the board to make a sound when power is turned on. Tried multiple power supplies thinking that may have been the issue. Fans start up, but it wont post. I should have done more research, but bundling incompatible items is a trap. Maybe newegg can help me out.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Recent chipset
many cools ASUS utilities...
support 125W CPU

Cons: That mobo freaked me out!

Doesn't want to boot with 2x4GB corsair xms3, not even entering the BIOS !!!

Finally got all working after updating bios and a bit of tweaking in the memory timing and voltages...

wished to have 4 DIMM spaces...

1 out of 5 eggsMess Up on Newegg

Pros: None

Cons: Are you kidding Newegg? I picked out this motherboard put together as a combo that I was going to put together for a family member. He brought to my attention that this board, and the FX AMD Zambezi AM3+ processor that was supposed to be a combo buy, the cpu doesn't even match this board. It's AM3. I checked Asus's site on cpu support for this board, they are not compatible together. So, if there is anyone out there who also bought this combo, did you figure this out too?

Other Thoughts: Newegg, do you have techs who put this stuff together? Someone does not know what they are doing. Maybe they just missed that detail just like I did before I suggested the person to buy it. Heck, I thought it was a good deal. Turns out it was bad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo

Pros: -Has a lot of inbuilt features

Cons: -Only 2 ram slots, but not much of a drawback

Other Thoughts: This was part of the first computer that I built, and has been working beautifully over the past couple of months, handles my Phenom 4X and Nvidia gpu well, haven't had any problems yet.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Board

Pros: Plenty of Headers for Case USB ports and/or Card readers, and I'm glad they didn't skip putting the IDE port on this board, it let me use an odd-ball OEM IDE Blu-Ray reader drive and still attach six drives to use this as a combo HTPC and Network Storage PC.

The 880G Chipset comes with the ATI Radeon HD 4250 IGP built in, this is a slightly overclocked Radeon HD 4200 (560MHz vs. 500MHz) but is identical in every other way. It's not very useful for playing newer games at high resolutions or at blinding frame rates, however it does come with ATi's UVD 2.2 Built in and will decode in hardware almost any Video format I throw at it.

Cons: Having only 2 DIMMs available on this board isn't worth knocking an egg off of its rating, however for a budget board or an HTPC setup, its not as much of a con as it would be if this were your primary computer. I just happened to have an extra 2x1GB set of RAM that would have been nice to pop on this motherboard.

If you end up not using the Optical Audio Out, or HDMI, then I'm not thrilled with only having the 3 3.5mm Jacks, especially when it looks like they could have fit 6 without issue. But hey, they've gotta keep prices down somehow.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried the core unlocker yet, but I planned from the get-go to use a spare Athlon II x2 250 in this board so there's nothing that I could hope to unlock, but from what I've heard from people with other ASUS boards is that they're on the better side of luck with unlocking cores.
