3 out of 5 eggsDecent board, a little flakey

Pros: Decent feature set, though missing USB 3.0.
Worked fine out of the box.

Cons: Always was a little flaky, not always booting first try.
Onboard sound, left channel degraded to be mostly noise.
Onboard sound was still seen by system, though disabled and add-in sound card working.
Adding dual video PCI-E card caused BIOS to lock up within seconds of use, even after a BIOS reset, and with the latest BIOS installed.

Other Thoughts: Warranty support is a big disappointment. Bought April 2012, requested RMA April 2014, they say the warranty began March 2011 (upon manufacture), and so wouldn't accept an invoice that was over a year after manufacture! Their "3 year warranty" begins at date of manufacture? My invoice is invalid because I bought the unit over a year after manufacture? Useless, non-sensical policies.

2 out of 5 eggsStay away from cheap ASUS boards

Pros: I'm giving this board 2 stars because it did manage to last about 6 months, and ASUS has decent drivers. Other than that, there are no redeeming qualities.

Cons: I have had nothing but problems with ASUS budget boards. The tend to have quality control issues, and when you run into a problem (which is almost always after the return period ends) you're forced to deal with ASUS Indiana's RMA.

NOTE: ASRock is owned and made by ASUS as well, so this review applies to them too.

All it takes is a quick google to see how unhappy people are with ASUS support, especially the Indiana division which handles everything but the top-tier ASUS Republic of Gamer boards.

On more than one occasion they have sent back a broken board to me claiming to have fixed it, or physically broken the board themselves (blaming shipping, even though it was packed so well it would have to be run over with a steamroller to hurt the mobo) and said it didn't qualify for RMA because of that.

If you happen to do a RMA with ASUS, then make sure to TAKE PICTURES of the board before you ship it, as well as how you shipped it, to lessen any frustration if they do it to you.

Their top of the line boards, the Republic of Gamer series have been good however. And the ASUS California support who deals with those motherboards is actually pleasant to work with. How one can be so dysfunctional and the other can be so pleasant is hard to grasp given they're under the same corporate banner.

BOTTOM LINE:
If you need a budget or mid-end motherboard avoid ASUS. Look at GigaByte or MSI instead.

Other Thoughts: p.s. ASUS please don't respond to this review and try to have me contact you. I've had about as much contact with you as I can stand for one lifetime.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacing after 5 months.

Pros: Cheap, good bios.

Cons: Only having one pcie slot leaves no room for graphical upgrades. No usb 3.0. No integrated graphics.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, spend a bit more money on a mobo that you wont need to replace and has everything you need for future upgrades. 40 extra dollars is worth it. Dont go cheap on a mobo.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about your experience. However, one should note that it is up to the consumer to understand what their needs are before making a purchase. All IO ports are specified in the product pages for this board, so if you don't find what you are looking for by all means seek out another model rather than just buying a product and finding out it does not meet your future needs.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: price

Cons: i bought this MB from newegg sold as a package deal along with AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX....nothing would work....got no help from tech support....after much wasted time i discovered they are not even compatible...ordering the SABERTOOTH 990FX AM3+.....this is not really an indication of the products quality but a real let-down in newegg support and knowledge of the products they sell

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issues. It's always worth checking out the ASUS product pages before launch; you can navigate to the CPU support list tab to find out which processors the board supports.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for a budget build.

Pros: 3 year warranty, good specs and good quality.

Cons: Only requires 6 screws to mount it into the case. You have to be very careful when plugging in the 20+4 pin connector. Once everything is plugged into it. Having more holes to mount the board would be a plus.

4 out of 5 eggsno s/pdif coax - only header

Pros: Well-designed board layout. Sufficient expansion. 4 DDR3 RAM slots. Easy ASUS tools for monitoring and overclocking.

Cons: Board has a header for s/pdif but no coax or optical port. Must purchase an additional expansion card to utilize digital audio out.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very capable board in this price range
