3 out of 5 eggsFaulty 3.0 USB Controller

Pros: Good quality with many bells and whistles. Nice for gaming and videos.

Cons: 3.0 USB Controller never did function properly, and after a few months.... does not function at all. SATA connectors not in good location. Board was created for high speed w/video graphs HD, but you can't fit 2 crossfire cards in without them getting overheated.... too close together. Also, same buses are used for inputs/outputs limiting what you can use together, and try to add an extra card to run something... there is no space.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the USB controller.

Please go to our support site and update the bios, chipset drivers, and USB drivers to see if that will resolve your issue.

Did you already try removing the device from the USB and see if it's able to be detected? Make sure you also update the updates for windows as well.

You can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, great.

Pros: Works great after a year. Easy overclocking. Lots of settings.

Cons: A bit overkill for my setup. Meh!

Other Thoughts: Got it in a combo with the A8-3870k. Make sure you install using UEFI correctly. I'm still not sure I did.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Motherboard I've ever had

Pros: This is great MOBO. I used an A8-3850 and Enermax ETS-T40 cooler with Crucial Ballistix 1866 memory. The memory benchmarked quite a bit higher than some I’ve seen on the internet. Updating BIOS was a snap and allows a great deal of tweaks. I changed the fan cooling parameters and got inaudible noise levels even in a quiet room while running a game! Best MOBO I’ve had to date.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Stable, Versatile (JUST GET IT)

Pros: I purchased this board with an AMD A8-3850 and 8GB of Kingston HyperX 1600 Memory to run Windows Home Server 2011. It has been up 24/7 for about a month with no issues. The board was a snap to install and get going; I also like all the USB and fan connectors. The bios was a little different at first but now after spending some time in there I have come to love it (using the mouse, who would have thought)!

Cons: Was not able to find/ verify that AMD V was enabled in the bios, but that was probably just me. I used CPU-Z to verify it is indeed enabled.

Other Thoughts: A huge bonus for me is this board supports VMware ESXi 5 Hypervisor. I am able to use VMware player to create a VM of ESXi 5 as well and create VM’s within the ESXi 5 environment. As of today I have not attempted to install ESXi 5 as a base but that will be something I will try in the near feature.

4 out of 5 eggsSome Complications But Love Motherboard

Pros: Nice Motherboard comes with everything I wanted USB 3.0 6.0GB also does SATA III

Cons: Alot of BIO updates for fixes took me a about 45 minutes to update the BIOS lol, Small Error happened while doing the update didn't hurt the Motherboard needed to use motherboard Installation CD to fix the issue Minor. Got no Screws or anything for the computer case to screw the motherboard to the case with those adapter things but lucky I had some. Having internet connection problems I think they need a new driver update for it havent tried the 4 updates on there site yet. Should Get extra Heat sink stuff for CPU just encase mine was at like 180 -C should be at 90 to 100 and after I installed my Video card got this weird Error when Windows 7 is at Desktop loads fine runs just have to adjust or enable something but havent figured out how yet but most part everythings fine just new to this motherboard brand and minor things could just be me but thought I would tell everyone troubles "I HAVE HAD"

Other Thoughts: Minor could just be how I'm doing things but Cons I am having listed below. have to fix minor Errors but comes with a Windows PC and minor issues but over all good ALL THO I DONT LIKE THAT THEY PUT THE 6.0 SATA PLUG INS AT 45 DEGREE ANGLE BC I HAD TO CUT INSIDE MY CASE BEFORE I COULD PUT IT IN IN THAT SPOT BC THE CORDS WOULD NOT PLUG INTO IT BC IT WAS HITTING THE SPOT WHERE THE HARD DRIVE WAS LOCATED SO IT WAS A MESS AND A HEAD DUMB MOVE ON ASUS PART ON THAT DESIGN ON THE MOTHERBOARD BUT FIXED IT BY CUTTING THE SPOT SO I COULD GET THE SATA CORDS IN

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Where do I start. I guess with what I started with. The looks. This thing looks awesome. It's blue/black color paired with good looking heatsinks makes this an awesome looking mobo. It also feels nice, even as you first take it out of the bag.

I'll move on to setup. Installation into my case was a breeze. The standoffs were all installed in without problem. Asus even gives you an extender for plugging in the usb/hdd light/etc to make it easier. Great stuff. I did have to remove the old CPU heatsink bracket, because I got an aftermarket cooler, but it was not too difficult.

Software/Usage:The BIOS in this mobo are fantastically easy to navigate as well. Overclocking is where this mobo shines. Paired with an unlocked APU, overclocking is a breeze, even for an OC'ing noob like myself. The built-in Auto-tuning software overclocked my a8-3870k to 3.4 Ghz with the click of 1 button. There are also 5 fan headers on this board, which is a solid amount.

Cons: My only gripe is that the lower fan connector is faulty. I've tried it with several fans and it does not work. I don't really mind, and it's not worth RMA'ing it because it would take too much time, so I'll just deal with it. I am a bit disappointed though.

Other Thoughts: This is the best FM1 mobo for Overclocking, hands down. It is incredibly easy, and this board has taken everything I have thrown at it this far. Love it!

2 out of 5 eggsVideo troubles

Pros: Easy to install and clean in the box with no added cards

Cons: Video has always had horizontal lines in it. Gets worse the longer the PC was on. The lines were on the DVI and HDMI connectors. As the graphics GPU is part of the CPU which is at fault? I installed an inexpensive Radeon HD video card and all is well now.

Other Thoughts: It is fine otherwise. Impossible to troubleshoot so I won't buy a dual purpose combo again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Either the APU or the onboard video outputs may be defective. If you like to RMA the motherboard so that our technicians can verify if it's caused by the board, please complete the RMA submittal form at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call 1-812-282-2787.

1 out of 5 eggsDecent board, poor customer service.

Pros: Good board with a lot of features.

Cons: The only technical issue I had was with getting it to post with a single video card. Customer support was of no use and I ended up figuring it out on my own. You have to change your settings to enable multiple GPUs then it will post.

Other Thoughts: Asus, rebate website did not work. I would enter all the info and the site would give me a page not found error instead of giving me the info I needed to mail in my reciept and upc for the rebate. I tried to resolve this problem through Asus customer support at both the Rebate website and Asus themselves but they essentially brushed me off. I conversed with them for a month until they ultimately drew it out until I no longer qualified for the rebate. Bottom line they will not honor the rebate to adjust your spending accordingly.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your feedback.

If you're using a single video card, please try going to UEFI > Advanced > NB Configuration > enable IGFX Multi-Monitor.

Regarding your rebate, you can always submit a rebate or track its status here at: http://www.service.asus.com/warranty.aspx#!rebate-status/c1w3a. Please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-4056 with your rebate form so that I can look into it for you.

Benson
