1 out of 5 eggsIntermitten Issues after 1.5 years

Pros: I'm an IT professional, I've always supported Asus motherboards - they have been great and with the dozens and dozens of builds I've done for clients, I have had very few issues and very good customer support from Asus.

Cons: After using dozens of Asus Motherboards, this is the last one I will ever support. The board intermittently has issues POSTing. Sometimes it will work fine, other times it won't get to POST. I've swapped all the hardware with known-good parts and everything is fine, just the motherboard that is failing. I've contacted Asus for an RMA, and have not been able to get one. I no longer have the box with SN, and there is no SN where it is supposed to be on the board. After talking with Asus on the phone and through several emails, they say I can inquire a SN but every email response is "sorry we cannot create an RMA for you because we can't get a SN, please provide us with it with 3rd digit M next to your PCI slot". I've told them multiple times it is not there, taken a picture and showed them, and I get replies from them as if they are a broken recorder.

Other Thoughts: Strongly disappointed in Asus' customer support especially to a loyal IT professional that has promoted their product for years.
My next-in-line and now first-in-line is now ASRock, I've had absolutely 0 issues with their boards over the past 2 years and have very high quality, great BIOS, and also cheaper than Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed with ASUS

Pros: The board looks nice.

Cons: The 3 year warranty is useless. ASUS first sent me a defective replacement that had bent socket pin. They then sent a second board that looked like it had been in some mad over-clocker's garage as it had a thick layer of dust covering the entire board and actual dust bunnies in the heat syncs, tool mark scratches that exposed the copper on the board, and what appeared corrosion on the bottom of the board. When I called to complain they stated that the board had been fully tested to which I replied they could have at least blown the dust off.

Other Thoughts: ASUS seems to have no interest in taking care of their customers. I have made several attempts to get a replacement board and they are happy to enter a new RMA but I never hear back. If they do not have any available same model boards then they should at least offer a discount on a similar model

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost 12 months

Pros: It works as it should, I've had my board for about a year. overclocks my i5 2500k to 4.3 ghz. with no sweat. It's stable. Might get another one for a HTPC if I can find one really cheap.....

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: If you are having issues with older pci components don't go higher than the 3702 bios. I had problems with my tuner card when I used a bios higher than the 3702.
IT WILL NOT BOOT AND ASUS DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!!!!

My system:

Case:Antec P280
Memory: G skill Ripjaws 1866mhz.
CPU: Intel i5 2500k/w Antec Kuhler
PSU: Ocz Mod x 650w
GPU: Gigabyte 6850oc
Roswell PCIe Firewire-A card
Presonus firebox for my audio......

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo, but...

Pros: I really like this mobo. It was my first experience with UEFI Bios, and it both installed and runs like a dream. My only complaint is that it doesn't support WOL for the NIC. It DOES however, support WOL for any of the PCI / PCIe devices, so I suppose this is easily remedied by purchasing another NIC. Overall, great board.

Cons: Just that it doesn't support WOL from the NIC.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Mobo

Pros: Lots of USB, sharp looking, great feature set, and great price.

Cons: Currently trouble shooting why one of my USB controllers is shutting itself down on a regular basis. Have to unistall the device and rescan it via Device Manager in order to use 6 of the 8 USB ports.

Other Thoughts: I'll update this after I've either fixed the issue or got in touch with Asus. Had the board since Feb 2012. I expected it to last longer as my last Asus mobo lasted 3+ years without a single problem and I'd bet it would still work if I used it to build a new machine right now.

1 out of 5 eggsStoped working

Pros: it was great untill it stoped working

Cons: i had an windows update and i had to restart my computer and when i restarted it i didnt get a screen any more and there was no beep. i tried my graphics card, ram, processor and hardrive on a diffrent computer so im thinking that the bois got currupted or the motherboards fried. also i would try to reload the deafualt bois settings but not even a screen apears for that. plus i dont gwr any power to my keyboard or mouse beacuse the lights wont light up

Other Thoughts: to be honest it was a good motherboard until it stoped working. suprised it would just stopped working after almost a years of work

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry for the issue you experienced after performing Windows Update. Windows Updates does not normally provided BIOS updates however there may be driver updates to your video card, sound, LAN, and other devices. Try to clear CMOS using jumper so the board can POST and enter BIOS. Turn the switch on the back of the power supply to OFF, or unplug from the outlet. Wait about 10 seconds until the standby LED goes out. Position jumpers from 1 and 2 to 2 and 3, wait about 5 seconds, then move back to 1 and 2. Power on the computer. If you can get into BIOS, and press F5 to load defaults. If you continue to experience this issue, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com (reference #C1037-7956 in the subject line). Thank you.

3 out of 5 eggsoh no not foxconn parts

Pros: i think the mainframe of the motherboard is made by asus

Cons: there are a lot of junky foxconn parts on the board though i usually give asus 4-5 stars and foxconn 1 star so i'll give this board 3 for balance

Other Thoughts: foxconn and its little friend ecs are among the lowest quality chinese junk on the planet , its like buying an emerson tv , woohoo you might get a week out of it before it crashes. I hate that asus is now allowing foxconn to even touch thier boards because i personally have had great overall experiences with asus so far to date espicially with all my lga 775 builds

1 out of 5 eggsASUS Failing Hard

Pros: Good features, cheap

Cons: Worked well for 8 months then stopped detecting my keyboard and other components. Looked closely at the motherboard and saw it uses a lot of Foxconn parts, the exact ones I am having problems with. As long as ASUS is using cheap parts in their motherboards I would not recommend them or buy their products ever again. Their customer support is also very bad and their RMA process sucks. ASUS is no longer a top brand in my book, avoid them and try another brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issue you had with the motherboard. We would be happy to receive it for RMA service. If a problem is found with the input ports (PS/2 and USB), we will repair or replace it. Please use the following form at: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call 1-812-282-2787 to begin the RMA process.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It runs my stuff. Nothing more.

Cons: Came DOA. Bent CPU pins. And no BIOS chip.. They did not even send me a new one. They took 2 months to repair the one that was DOA.

Takes forever to boot (And I am talking about it to even start the BIOS.. My windows loads like a boss.)

To take out your SATA cables you may bend the pins for the front panel connectors.

Low quality I/O Shield.

Other Thoughts: I would NOT buy another one even if I could, and I would not recomend to any one.

Its a good thing they took it off of newegg.

Hope to buy something better in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

If there are bent pins on the motherboard, we will repair the unit-replace the entire socket that contain all the pins. Please try disconnecting unnecessary devices as they could lead to longer POST times. In addition, you may disable unused ports/features in UEFI for POST to finish faster.

We do have motherboards from our Sabertooth lineup such as the Sabertooth Z77 that's built with durability, compatibility, and stability in mind. For more information, please visit: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/SABERTOOTH_Z77/

We thank you for your feedback.

Benson

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: Very affordable and a great board for my first build. Zero Problems. I was told ASUS was the best for mobos and It has been nothing short of perfect.

Cons: Called Customer Service about a simple question about the separation between the mobo and computer chassis and got a run-a-round answer. But I figured it out.
