Question 1

So, I'm building my first desktop and a friend came across this one and I immediately started building around it....without looking at the reviews. I've seen some pretty negative things, so do you know of any mobos extremely similar to this one, so I don't have to completely change my setup?
Or if you think the naysayers are full of bologna and I should go ahead an get this one, of course.

In my experience ; the reviewers are clueless; Asus is a top mb and I have absolutely no problem with it.

I also bought the amd quad core processor and everything is fine

I have been running asus for years and a close friend of mine who knows more about computers than anybody else also loves asus

Asus rules 4 slots for memory; with 64 bit windows you can put more memory in; 32 bit only allows 4 gb ram

BTW I ignore that negative remarkes; I just go by the number of reviews and hat is it

Unless I misses something, this motherboard doesn't support usb 3 on the front IO does it?

No. You would have to get an add on card where you could hook up an internal connection, or an external extension device .

SO i recently bought an ASUS M11BB desktop which has the "chopped down" version of this board, the F2A55-M/M11BB/DP_MB. will a BIOS update for this board work for the board in my desktop? if so, will the BIOS features available to this board then be available on my board? in other words, would i be able to overclock if the BIOS for this board has those options

I have this board and was very impressed by how user friendly it is. You can definitely overclock with this board if your into overclocking... but remember it's small and will not distribute heat like a full size board.

Will this be able to run an A10 6970K CPU straight out of the box?

probably, although I would make sure it is updated to the latest bios 1st If for a build, it will run it, but might not give you full functionality unless bios is updated

I have this MB and I bought an R9 270x from a friend. I put the card in and the system won't boot into the BIOS. Previously I had an older Nvida 8800 GTS. I know the card  I bought works. Suggestions?

Replace card with previously installed card. Update bios. Reinstall card. Check power connections etc when replacing card. If that doesn't work I suggest contacting asus to check compatible cards. Also if you have another computer test that video card in that system to prove your preowned card is good.
