4 out of 5 eggsWorks good..

Pros: Easy install with good manual. I'm a semi-enthusiast and will build a new rig every year or so and hand down my old one. This board went actually for my wife's PC, so all uber bells and whistles was not necessary. I've been with Asus ever since Abit went under and have never really had any problems. This one was no different - overall very good.

Cons: None for it's intended uses.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Smooth instillation considering I did not re-install windows 7. booted up and I repaired the original install. Surprising since I came from an i7 920 and asus x58 motherboard. Asus software is pretty good and bios is easy to navigate and tweak settings. This is my first UEFI Bios so i was really impressed.

Cons: I went to turn on the computer after about a week and upon hitting the power switch I nothing happened. I then smelled smoke. I panicked and yanked the power cord from the wall to prevent any more damage. It was too late as a trace on the top right of the motherboard fried. I am giving this review one star because I am disgusted by asus's "customer service". After spending an hour on the phone I finally got through to someone. I told them what happened and I was surprised to find that I was made to feel like a complete novice, an idiot if you will. The guy told me that my power supply was bad and it ruined the motherboard. this is not true because I immediately installed the PSU into another PC and it is perfectly fine. No matter what I said I was told that they will NOT replace my motherboard because I obviously spilled something on it or installed it wrong.
This is absolute garbage. I have built over 50 pc's and do in-home pc repair for a living. I know what I'm doing. everything else in the PC is FINE. I even had the PC plugged into a surge protector when it failed.
have called back 6 times and talked to 6 different people. They kept saying I had to pay to ship it to them and I had to pay for them to repair it. I Finally I got a guy who apologized for the way I was treated and promised to send me a shipping label and get it repaired(NO ADVANCED REPLACEMENT) Needless to say I never received any shipping label. I called back again and again and they say they have NO idea what i'm talking about. I originally called Newegg and that since it went up in smoke that It was my fault and they would not help me. After talking to a manager he finally agreed to make an exception and give me 70% of my money back. THE MOBO WAS A WEEK OLD. YOU ARE A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR COMPANY, TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS. I'm not an entitled stuck up person I just trust that a company will take care of its customers if something goes wrong in the first WEEK. I did not call them demanding a new motherboard because I shoved a CPU in backwards and bent pins. This motherboard was defective and could have started a house fire. I am sincerely asking for your help newegg as ASUS will have nothing to do with me. I am short on funds and really need a mobo to get my gaming PC running.

Other Thoughts: I no longer shop at newegg or buy asus as I am very upset over how I have been treated.

Manufacturer Response:

I am very sorry for the subpar customer support given. I can assure you that ASUS takes its customer service very seriously. That said, I will make sure this case is notated and passed along to the proper channels. If you would like to add to this, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. 3428695.

1 out of 5 eggsNew Build for Son

Pros: None

Cons: This board was dead on arrival. Worst BIOS program I ever used, totally un-intuitive; no directions. Manufacturer makes it vertually impossible to get an RMA number. Bought a replacement board, had the computer up and running in one hour, with the replacement board..

Other Thoughts: How do I get my money back?

3 out of 5 eggsNot made any more

Pros: -

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: From Asus this product has been discontinued. I hope that doesn't mean I have a turkey about to fail.
Anyway, don't look too hard at the reviews as you can't get it anymore.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: -works
-built for the future (USB 3, sata 6Gb, etc)

Cons: - no back row of mounting holes

Other Thoughts: I am writing this as one of the silent majority who plug it in and it just works. You can look at the specs and DL the manual to see the number and types of ports and features but I will point out a few.

#1 First there are no parallel or IDE ports. I knew this and it is not a big deal for me. I have a PCI adapter board to run my old IDE drives and if I really want to use my parallel printer I have seen USB adapters for them.

#2 Needs a UEIF OS which is Vista and later, no XP. Even though it says this in the manual when I first booted it up before I had a chance to install win7 XP did load. I wouldn't count on this working and just assume you need Vista or later.

#3 There is a serial port jack. There are pins to use a serial port on the board and you just need to buy a separate header to use it.

#4 You can load the BIOS update from a USB drive. Just load the BIOS version you want to the root of a USB drive, stick it into a special USB port and power it up. It installs before a full boot. If you have problems that didn't totally brick your board you can use this to load a previous version.

#5 If you have memory setting issues that prevent a full boot you can press a button on the board to fix this. It will try alll memory settings until it finds one that will allow to to boot. I didn't have any problem but it was nice to know there was an option if I did.

That is all I can say about things you might not think about.

It as several USB 3 and sata 6 GIG ports so it is built with the future in mind. I can't really speak to longevity as I have only had it two months. In 3 - 5 years when it has proven its durability it will be out of production and out dated. I can tell you it replaced another Asus board (P4P800) that was 10+ years old and working fine so I expect the same from this one.

It is missing the back row of mounting holes. Just be careful when plugging in the main power connector as it is not supported on the back but you only do that once so it is not a big deal.

I see it has now been out of stock since I bought mine (two months). I don't know what is up with that but something must be up. I hope they didn't find some flaw and pull it from production but who can say.

1 out of 5 eggsOut of stock

Pros: I'll tell you if I can ever order one

Cons: Out of stock

Other Thoughts: It's been out of stock for over a month. Neither Newegg nor Asus can tell me when or if it will ever come back in stock or even if the model is being discontinued.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that the motherboard is out of stock at the moment you posted this. Have you checked the motherboard's availability recently? I am not sure if it is in stock or not, but I would check back periodically to see if it is available.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Working flawlessly with i5-4670. Room around CPU slot for a big CPU cooler, SATA slots easy to get to. Windows 7 installed with no problems, but you will need the CD that comes with the board for some drivers (expected).

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: As another user said, there is no evidence of drivers for Windows XP. Microsoft is dropping support in a couple of months, so I am not surprised.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Does It Again

Pros: So many reviews about Asus board and people whining how they have issues. Huh, I've used Asus boards for years without issues. And in my opinion " ASUS DOES IT AGAIN", this is another rock solid example of their craftsmanship. Paired board with Intel i5 4670k with "G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL "......Booted right up with no issues, no errors, first time. Board has lots of nice features, plenty of SATA III ports and spaced out nicely
For the money, you would be hard-pressed to fine a better board. Good Luck.

Cons: None What So Ever
