5 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Only blue screened when I was playing with bios. Other than that it ran solid for over a year.

Cons: I can't believe asus didn't make it water proof.

1 out of 5 eggs4th generation haswell

Pros: Small package and form factor

Cons: Product does not boot up with a I5-4590T and suggested solution is to upgrade bios to newest version.

Kind of interesting how this is suppose to be done if the board doesn't boot up to even start the update process

So indication from newegg that this combination can't be started up without prior update of motherboard.

I assume that the only choices now are to either return the board or buy a cheap older lga 1150 CPU to update the bios first.....

1 out of 5 eggsFirst board DOA, second dead 2nd day

Pros: Inexpensive
6 SATA slots great

Cons: Had to RMA twice

Other Thoughts: I've ordered this board twice, the first one was DOA and had to be RMA. The second one was working great for a day, but now the LED on the board is blinking and computer won't start. Have to spend $30+ in RMA shipping and wait weeks to finally get my computer running

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: Good layout
Works correctly
Good feature set

Cons: No wifi i guess? Some people may care about this

Other Thoughts: The second image on newegg is an accurate depiction of this motherboard.

Used this in a high power mini itx build (i7 4790 + r9 280x). It was easier to build than the last time I built one, so the layout is nicer.

4 out of 5 eggsASUS H87I-PLUS Micro-ITX

Pros: Solid board, connections and soldering look good, no flex, built in raid support is reliable (2 Seagate 3TB drives in RAID1) and easy to setup. The 6 SATA ports come in super handy since its a server setup.

Cons: On the bottom side of one RAM slot you can tell the squared off edge was snapped. Purely cosmetic but it's a piece towards the middle of the board... puzzles me how it got there. -1 Egg

Other Thoughts: This is a multi-use home server machine. "Idle" is 2 empty Minecraft servers and a rather busy seedbox. Other services running include FTP, RDP, WINS, Active Directory with file and media shares.

CPU: Intel Pentium G3420 3.2Ghz Dual Core
MoBo: ASUS H87I-PLUS Micro-ITX
RAM: 2X4GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR31600 9-9-9-24
PSU: Corsair CX430M
Case: LIAN LI PC-Q25B
OS Drive: Samsung 830 64GB SSD
Seed Drive: Samsung 830 64GB SSD
Storage: 2 Seagate 3TB in RAID1

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've always preferred Asus motherboards over other brands, and this board continued that trend.

-Excellent color scheme (Looks great in an Obsidian 250D) and great build quality

-Plenty of USB options on the back panel

- Laminated full size manual booklet. I've used MSi and other companies before and was shocked to find they didn't include a booklet. I bought an $60 Asus micro-ATX board 3 years ago that had one. Glad to know Asus still cares about documentation.

- Easy to use UEFI BIOS with great menu navigation and utilities

Cons: Q-Shield on motherboard I/O shield made it hard to install

5 out of 5 eggs1150 Motherboard

Pros: This is a great motherboard. Do not listen to compsman. He is idiotic. He did not do his pc build homework. Pentium are limited to only 1333mhz memory speed. I3 are limited to 1600mhz. I5 and i7 are pretty much unrestricted. SATA 6 performance? Phenomenlal. Paired with a GTX 760 ITX this board is just amazing. Pair it with an SSD and a 7200rpm 2.5" drive and you got a killer LAN box in a elite 110 case. Give it reliable power and cooling and you got yourself sub 60C temps even in a SSF case like the elite 110.

Cons: None. Accurate description via newegg.

Other Thoughts: See pros. Compsman never looked at what he was buying. Go to your major retailer or intel.com to find memory specs. Also use G.SKILL ram if you can afford it as it is compatible with almost every mobo.

1 out of 5 eggsstuck at 1333 mhz

Pros: i got this board and a g3220 cpu, and a crucial 1600mhz ddr3 12800 and updated bios, still only at 1333

Cons: updating bios, made so i can not ever see 1600 as a option
options i get is 800 1066 1333, (no 1600)

NO XMP OPTION, NO AI OVERCLOCK TUNER OPTIONS!!!

Other Thoughts: before updating bios, picking ddr 3 1600 = no post

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

Thank you for posting your review.

As per Intel's support page, the G3220 processor only supports memory up to 1333 MHz. For your reference, here is their support page: http://ark.intel.com/products/77773/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3220-3M-Cache-3_00-GHz. Should you have any questions, please let me know through email. 3742012.

2 out of 5 eggsAll the pieces are there, but...

Pros: - Solid construction
- Has all the features I was looking for in an ITX form factor

Cons: - Asus Probe II Sense (AMDA00) Driver. The very reason I purchase and build my own machines is so my clients don't have to put up with bloatware. And the very fact I'm giving a client with an intentionally disabled driver is disheartening. At least make the driver stable so it doesn't crash Windows. It took me five installs and 20 hours to figure out the culprit.
- The UEFI BIOS is functional, but not even close to the quality of others I've used. Simply changing the boot order takes far more effort than it should and when only changing the boot order, on exit, the BIOS asks if you're sure you want to quit without any changes. Granted it saves my changes, but changes were made (yes, this is on the current version... flashing didn't help).
- Just being nitpicky on this one, but given the construction of most ITX chassis, the locations of the USB2 and USB3 headers should be swapped.
- Again nitpicky... can't believe NONE of the vendors have figured it out yet... put the stinking drivers on a branded USB jump drive. Optical drives are becoming hard to come by and I'd just assume replace the shipped drivers with the current drivers since the USB drive is what my clients will give me when I have to repair the machine.

Other Thoughts: After purchasing over 50 Asus routers (love them!) and having my first positive experience in a runin with Asus support in many years, I thought I'd give their motherboards another chance after 10+ years of avoiding them altogether. Frustratingly, same problems as ten years ago... different day. I won't be purchasing another. Given the problems I had, this is an expensive purchase. Resolve the above problems and the board is worth the cash. However, with only a half-baked BIOS and horribly unstable bloatware drivers... yeah it's back to MSI for me.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

Thank you for your feedback. We will go ahead and notate your suggestions and pass them to the proper channels. If you would like to add further information, please let me know through email. 3709205.
