1 out of 5 eggsNot happy with this board.

Pros: I don't know, I never got this board to work (see why in the CONS).

Cons: Motherboard requires BIOS update before it will boot latest generation of processors (my case a 760 Richland quad-core). I ended up getting a cheapo MSI motherboard that worked.

It's not a small motherboard.

SATA connectors point forward (WTH?) so combine this with it's size, I had trouble with SATA connectors hitting the case. AND, the SATA connectors aren't labeled well on the MB so you have a 50/50 shot at plugging into SATA0 on the first try.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board and a new Richland quad-core processor (Item=N82E16819113348). It would not boot. Long story short, 2 memory sticks, 2 Power supplies, 3 processors, and 3 motherboard later (2 ASUS, 1 MSI), I found out that this board (and the F2A85-M2) requires a BIOS update to boot on the latest gen processor.

Pros: Awesome board.

* Good room for a small board.
* up to 64 GB ram (yeah right... nice joke)

Cons: * No usb3 on board pins
* Supports up to 64GB ram on NON-ECC ram, which can only go up to 8GB a stick. They do not specify NON-ECC, so i thought ECC would be fine (sometimes they are in higher end motherboards). NOPE! that was a $546 investment gone WAY wrong. and then about $100 more to send it back to newegg with the restocking fee.

Really, this motherboard can ONLY support up to 32GB ram (4 slots of 8GB) simply because the only ram you can buy that is 16GB Sticks are ECC.

Maybe it can go up to 64GB ram, but not in todays market where 64GB of NON-ECC doesnt exist!

Other Thoughts: Still a good board... but darn, do your research before pressing the buy button

4 out of 5 eggsnot friendly with XP

Pros: Good low cost MoBo. But I spent three days trying to get it to run. All in all, it will do the job I need for very little cost.

Cons: Documentation leaves a LOT to be desired. This is a single use computer to run a CNC machine in my shop. I just want it to run on Windows XP because that is what runs the machine now. Getting a new computer to run an old operating system seems to be a problem!

Other Thoughts: Would not write to Hard Disk until I read the comment on a similar Asus board that stated to get it to work with windows XP you have to set the SATA Drives in the BIOS to IDE. Then it works just fine..

2 out of 5 eggsNot Worth it

Pros: 1. A lot of RAM speed supports
2. Case fan connections
3. PCIe 3.0

Cons: Everything you want is probably not on this board..
1. Price (Cheaper boards have way more then this mobo which is disappointing in my opinion)
2. Bottom connections don't have the right pins for my HD Audio connectors from my case (Rosewill Challenger)
3. NO SATA 6 support (Also disappointing since mostly all current mobos have this feature)
4. Misleading design when purchased it stated that it did indeed support SATA 6
5. USB 3.0 IS NOT SUPPORTED (another false advertised feature)

Other Thoughts: Overall if you don't care about sata 6 or USB 3.0 then by all means it'll work. As for price wise this is overpriced for what it comes with lacking current gen mobo features. I wanted to stay with ASUS but now unless I find exactly what fits my needs I might need to go elsewhere which is very disappointing...

5 out of 5 eggsmother board

Pros: fast board small so it fits in almost any case. runs pretty cool for a mother board. I like the 3.0 usb and it has lots of ports and plenty of spots to plug in extra fans if needed.

Cons: none so far

4 out of 5 eggsRead descriptions carefully

Pros: -Asus brand quality.

-Low cost.

-Extra long lasting components.

-FM2+ (allows for upgraded CPU in the future).

Cons: -No USB 3.0 connector for case USB 3.0 slots (my case only has 3.0, so those two ports are useless).

-No SATA III (6 Gb/s).

-Did not come with a POST speaker.

Other Thoughts: It's my fault for not inspecting the pictures carefully enough to notice there is no USB 3.0 connector on the board, but why is this not a standard slot? USB 3.0 has been out for at least three years, it should be standard on every mobo. I'll probably have to get some 3.0 to 2.0 converters and just downgrade these ports to be able to hook them up to the mobo.

Secondly, the manual and box are deceptive because they say "SATA 3.0Gb/s". This means SATA II, i.e. SATA revision 2.0. This board has NO 6 Gb/s SATA revision 3.0 ports. Confusing, but I suppose I should have investigated this board more before purchasing. Pretty disappointing since I was hoping to use this board as an upgradeable platform, but I guess it really shouldn't matter since I have a mechanical HDD right now.

Both of these were oversights of my own doing. Just be aware that things are less expensive for a reason.

I bought this for a build for my mom. She will likely be running this 24/7, so the extra durable components in the PLUS series should come in handy.
