5 out of 5 eggsexcelent

Pros: no doa. installed easily, works with vista, xp, and ubuntu.

Cons: You lose 2 and 3 sata ports if you install engineering graphic cards.

Other Thoughts: impressed for the price. I go this board because I was tired of sacrificing speed with quad and duo cores. works will it celeron D.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste yourtime and money

Pros: Newegg had it on my door step in three days.

Cons: 1st board was DOA. So I waited to post a review until recieving replacement. Well second board only lasted about 30 minutes then puff. Nothing I could do would get it boot up again. I will never buy another ECS board at any price even free, just not worth my time.

This board was to replace an ECS NFORCE 570 SPLIT-A that went bad after a little under 3 years. Of all the builds I have done ECS boards have been the only ones that I have ever had go bad like this.

First board had mounting screws second did not. Just a small thing but if they can not even package the board up the same who is to say they can make one right. Now I am supose to RMA it with all oriinal packaging when they can not even package them the same.

5 out of 5 eggsUneventful, I like that :)

Pros: Have used this board in several (10 +) very demanding enviroments (security DVR's) No problems, no quirks, no surprises. Raid works very well. I dont overclock and will spend the money if I want more options. So reliable it has become a standard for me.

Cons: None, again no surprises. Nothing special, works as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I used to love Intel brand system boards for DVR's. I had so many DOA's / memory compatiblilty issues that I had to change.

5 out of 5 eggsGood audio, video, compatiblity

Pros: Simple, reliable board with a great onboard feature set. Certainly worth the price. Supports 1333MHz cpus. Very good memory timing and vRAM control (2.2V and higher is available). Can unlink memory from FSB by typing in what bus and memory speeds you want (ie, no fixed FSB:DRAM ratios in BIOS, but it will still link to the next available ratio stored in BIOS, so it's not actually fully stepless). Onboard audio sounds surprisingly good, and the onboard video handles old games like UT2004 maxed out at 1600x1200 w/AA. Took an E5200 Wolfdale up to 3.75GHz/1200MHz QDR/1.356V (load). Multiplier control with Conroe and later based Cores/PDCs/Celerons.

Cons: Sparse fine tuning options. vCore control is limited to +50mV-150mV in BIOS. No adjustment for any signal-related chip-set parameters. Lack of dual-channel memory ensures a small hit along the lines of a good 5% is most apps, maybe more so compared to the latest quick P4x series chipsets, and more so with multi-core multitasking of bandwidth intensive applications (encoding with two cores while watching a video, with one, for example). This is a shame, because the otherwise decent geforce core has to fight for contention with one, two, or four cores (when in use) for one 64 bit memory channel - but through a 128bit effective data bus.
This is however a small nitpick in this price category.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect to overclock well with 90nm processors, and your results will invariably get better as you step down process size (90nm -> 65nm -> 45nm etc) due to limited vCore and various other voltage related adjustments, not to mention a decidedly weak voltage regulation circuit (wouldn't recommend pushing big Kentsfield 65nm 8MB core 2 quads on this tiny board, but you wouldn't anyway). Additionally, your overclocking headroom will be limited with 1333MHz cpus due to the lack of high-fsb clock stablity typical of nvidia chipsets.

I've had a good experience with this board, and choosing the right components for it ensures you will to.

2 out of 5 eggsMy first ECS MB and I'm having issues

Pros: An amazing price for what it offers. Newegg has quick ship and great prices.

Cons: It doesn't seem to work with my existing PQI turbo memory. I will upgrade on crucial and see if it works. I had a lot of install issues as it did not find my DVD/CD drive (2009 build date) either. I had to dig out an ancient 2002 CD-ROM drive to install my windows xp sp3 disk.

Other Thoughts: I will update on whether it's a MB issue or a memory issue when the new memory comes in.

Manufacturer Response:

If you continue you to have issues please call us as we would like to find out more about your memory and the DVD/CD drive you are using.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Good Bargain MoBo

Pros: Everything worked perfectly out of the box. Bios default settings are already optimized to post and startup. Install cpu, memory, hdd, dvd and voila, you're ready to go and install windows. Never been easier. Built 5 systems with this Board and none were disappointing or problematic. with the right cpu and memory, this is a very snappy system (albeit no frills either). Highly recommended except for the higher end systems... I really LOVE the BSEL select feature in BIOS. No need for a BSEL Mod!!! I used mostly celeron e1200's, set the BSEL select to fsb 1333 and magically the 1.6 GHz chips were running stock at 2.67 GHz (and can overclock from there...lol). set dram ratio to 1:1 and you're done!!! prime95 stable for over 6hrs. cant ask for more than that from a $$$cheap motherboard...

Cons: The memory slots are too close together, memory modules with big heat spreaders might touch each other. If you are using a BIG video card, you will lose sata-2 and sata-3 slots. This really shouldn't be a problem, because I cant picture putting a $200 video card in <$50 Motherboard... lol. Also, the memory controller is single channel. But this was already known going into this... ALL Geforce 7050, 7100 and 7150 do NOT support dual channel memory. Kinda picky on memory, though...

Other Thoughts: The cons are only minor and do not take away from the qualities this board has. I have NEVER before seen a motherboard with a "BSEL Select" option in BIOS. no more jumper wires/modifications...thats beautiful... This will be my board of choice for future customer builds as long as they still make it and intel still makes lga775 chips... The only gripe I have is how picky it is with memory. Will not work with my pny 667, and supertalent 800, BUT it works great with G-skill, Kingston, OCZ and Corsair. Luckily I have plenty of extra memory lying around. Just for those of you complaining of DOA's. In my 7 years building custom systems, I have NEVER had a DOA. Maybe I am lucky, or Possibly people should invest a couple bucks into an anti-static wrist strap when working on static-sensitive equipment. Or do some research/testing to make sure there are no compatibility issues (i.e. memory modules, cpus, etc). imho.

Pros: None

Cons: Don't buy. Assembled board. Was completely dead. Not only that, later determined it fried my CPU and memory

The odds of the motherboard being the cause for the damaged CPU and memory are quite low.

If you haven't already we would like for you to contact us so we may find out more about your configuration.

1 out of 5 eggsGet something else

Pros: None. It was DOA

Cons: The item arrived DOA. Also it's advertised as supporting 4GB RAM max, but on the box it says only 2GB maximum supported memory.

Other Thoughts: Get something else. There is much better system boards from Gygabyte for almost the same price.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to here about your issues.
