1 out of 5 eggsECS Won't Honor Their Warranty

Pros: It worked for a while

Cons: Their products are total junk.

Other Thoughts: When your ECS product breaks--and it will--you're out of luck. They brag about their 99 hour service, but you'll never get it. You can't even get your product registered for RMA. ECS is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. You can rest assured I won't make the mistake of ever again buying a product from them.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced wiht your RMA. Please contact us, so we can look into your previous case and provide an RMA if necessary and if under warranty. The GF8200A motherboard is a product that first came out about 5 years ago. ECS warranty covers 24 monts parts/labor and 36 months parts.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.

Thank you,
Andy

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Time For Me

Pros: Very good board while it lasted. Cheap and had since 2009 and finally need to get a new one.

Cons: Caught on fire. No clue as to why even after taking everything apart and testing other hardware with it.

Other Thoughts: Even though it caught on fire it was the first time for me and lasted me almost 4 years.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent MOBO for the price

Pros: I plugged in everything, and it all worked the first time I booted up. It's been a solid performer for 3 months so far. Geforce 8200 is decent for integrated video and supports audio over HDMI.
That was a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting that when I booted up the first time.

Cons: Supports DDR2. I'd rather be using DDR3.

Other Thoughts: Integrated video is decent enough for Aero on Win 7, but you'll probably want a PCI-e card if you're going to game at all.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Decent MOBO

Pros: Bought this to slowly upgrade my 64x2 setup. Decent setup for SLI, only one x16 slot, but hey, working my way up here.
For now i'm just using boost with the onboard video, which is an improvement.

Cons: none off the top of my head. it's what i was looking for. if you're looking for higher performance, open the wallet a little more.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Supports up to 32gb ram (only ddr2 though)
Cost effective

Cons: Just got the last of the parts I ordered for my build, and once I turned on my machine, the monitor didn't detect a vga signal. I then proceeded to use the HDMI port, only receiving the same result. I was waiting to buy a video card, hoping to be able to use the onboard graphics for a bit...

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'll contacting ECS soon, and hopefully I can get a replacement board.

4 out of 5 eggs1 year on...

Pros: AM2+/AM3 support is a big plus. Yeah, it's limited to 95W processors, but AMD has released 2.8Ghz and 3.0Ghz Phenom II X4s so you won't be for want of speedy processor options.

It autodetects everything. No need to do any digging in the BIOS to make things work. (see Cons below of the exception).

Cons: The latest BIOS still defaults to AHCI rather than SATA, which will cause blue screens of death in Windows XP. Perhaps not a con for many (most?), but if you're running XP as I am you need to make sure you change this setting.

Apparently, you can't adjust any of the CPU settings without a "Black Edition" processor. This means no tweaking FSB or vcore voltage. If you want to overclock this is not the board for you.

Other Thoughts: As I just installed a new Phenom II X4 3.0Ghz 95W and another couple sticks of memory, I figured I'd come back and post an update of the review I wrote last year. I haven't found any problems.

For reference, I am using 4GB of DDR2 800 (four 1GB sticks, two Corsair, two G.Skill). I have not tried DDR2 1066. I'm also using a Radeon HD 4770 video card, a 250GB Western Digital SATA II hard drive, and a 500GB Samsung SATA II hard drive.

The board doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it fits my needs just fine.

2 out of 5 eggsbeware 1066

Pros: Cheap motherboard, does well with 800 Mhz memory and am2 chip,
basically just an OK board for the average user.

Cons: Will not work with memory at 1066, with an am2+ processor.
I spent days on the phone and email with
mushkin and ecs trying to solve this problem. ecs tech support is a bit flakey.
Result:no one knows how to solve instability problem for 1066 mem modules.
I also upgraded to the latest bios. mobo does not do what it says it can do.

Other Thoughts: Never had this problem with any other of the hundreds of systems I've installed
and built. Pay a bit more if you want performance.

Manufacturer Response:

If you still require assistance with setting up your memory at 1066, please contact us. We would like to find out more about your configuration and look into your previous case.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Board has worked great since March '09. Easy to overclock with. Does everything I want it to. Use with Windows Vista and Fedora and I've had no funky driver issues.

Cons: Did not want to overclock my Brisbane 5400+ (unlocked multi). It would never POST with the multiplier options even turned on. I eventually bought a new CPU so that problem got solved. Some of the language in the BIOS is wack. Hot northbridge. No SLi

Other Thoughts: Great board, overall. This is my first non Asus board and I'm quite impressed!

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: It functions..NOW

Cons: I was overly enthusiastic as this was my first mobo installation so I had room to expand and put a 260 in. This ruined my experience. I had installed everything and tried booting it up. No luck. It read the HDD but did not boot. I decided to flash it. I had to learn to flash a BIOS. After HOURS of fiddling with the BIOS flashing(thanks for the worthless instructions, ECS) It finally booted. Then it a lot the drivers stopped working and didn't read a lot of ports (for instance my ethernet port.) Oh gee, how am I supposed to download the driver without my ethernet port? Did that, did this. Now I'm waiting to download the last driver; however, the ECS driver page is DOWN! Also, when I tried to move around my sata cable, the entire sata port fell off until only the pins were left. Horrible experience. Even worst, the stupid manufacturers monitoring these reviews is just going to patronize me with a generic "Contact us if you are still having problems" reply. Their support hours suck too

Other Thoughts: Windows Vista 32bit. I bet it won't last very long either. Do not buy from ECS.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the experiences you have had. We really would like for you to contact us so we may look into your previous case and address your concerns.
