1 out of 5 eggsDcent Board but the Customer Service is terrible

Pros: Decent board overall, nothing mind blowing but the quality is good with one notable exception.

Cons: One year and 11 months after purchase I discovered that one of the tabs on the CPU heatsink mounting bracket had broken. Very strange considering the computer never gets move so there was no chance for shock damage.

I contacted the company to RMA the board. At first things were fine. The guy seemed nice enough and the process was getting underway. However after a week I stopped hearing from them. So I called back, I heard him mumble something about it being out of warranty but he'll see what he can do. That's a load because on the site itself the board is warrantied for 2 years labor and 3 years parts, so it was still under warranty for both. After a month, which by then the warranty for labor had run out, I still had not heard from them.

All I needed was a new bracket, to fix the board, and was becoming very frustrated. Eventually a friend gave me one and I fixed it myself

Other Thoughts: So with the the exception f the bracket the board has been fine for over 3 years now. However, I would never, ever buy an ECS product again with service like that. They had a chance to make me a returning customer and they blew it. I'm sticking with brands that actually stand behind their products like Gigabyte EVGA.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a friendly board

Pros: Good layout, Lots of SATA, & USB, HDMI, on-board power and reset button switches, (great for testing board outside of case) 4 ram slots and dual PCI-E slots. And GREAT colors

Cons: First board lasted more than a year, and out of warranty repair/replacement came and lasted only a couple months. It worked fine seeing my quad core Phenom II X4 940 during initial testing upon recieving replacement. I powered down to install larger heatsink, upon restarting, it won't boot with that quar OR a 750 Dual core Kuma. See's a single core 3800 and a dual core 4850e. All my cpu's tested in other boards work fine, just not this replacement. One SATA port fell off the replacement too.

Other Thoughts: I applaude ECS for giving me a 25 dollar out-of-warranty repair/replacement once. I won't do it again. I have this boards bigger brother (A790GXM-AD3) and it's working fine for now. I also have the A785GM-M7. When it is time to replace either one of these, I'll go back to Asus or MSI or Gigabyte

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: got this board to use an AM2 socket chip i had laying around... worked great out of the box, with both xp and win7, no problems with any of the components.

Cons: nothing of note

Other Thoughts: this info might be useful to some people, but i'm using the onboard video for now until my vid card i ordered gets here... it runs half-life2 and counterstrike:source at 1440x900 with all settings up just fine. also, i'm using 2 sticks of mushkin 1066 in here(only running at 800 due to AM2 cpu), and have not 0 issues with compatibility, no crashes whatsoever.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Great board for the price, works great so far, still havent gotten around to flashing the bios, and it still works great.
I got this board in a board and case combo, it was really cheap, and the onboard graphics arnt bad.

Cons: It only has 3 fan plugs on the board. maybe this is just me but i cant find any more! simple fix, but still a con.
Wont handle DDR3 Ram also, thats the only problem for me if you want to upgrade in the future.

Other Thoughts: great for a budget build and my first build. great if you want to upgrade in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it.

Pros: It came with the latest BIOS. Everything Installed with no problems.

Cons: None except for the molex connector on the board is really close to the heatsink making it hard to unplug. Besides that I love it.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had two.

5 out of 5 eggsRAM Specs

Pros: Yeah lotsa space, I put this AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 140W Quad-Core Processor Model in it and it runs like a charm.

Cons: Initially I kept having crash-boot errors which I thought were driver issues, turns out it was a issue with the PNY Vid Card I had. It would not take in the device at all. Bought a new card and it was good...until I installed Win 7. Had about a day of crash-boot errors. I did send an email to ECS support and I did get a timely reply if not short and too the point. They said it was a issue with the RAM I purchased which was a higher speed then what the Specs called for (all other specs were correct). I ordered new RAM with the 1066 speed installed to sticks and worked like a charm! I love it!

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the waste

Pros: This board gives you what you pay for. Good for a short term fix? If you do that. Did not last me to long a little over a year; but did not run my ram at 1066 only would run it at 800.

Cons: Tech support was really bad i had to wait 6 months for an answer to my support ticket which i figured out in about 1 month. This board came installed but started showing signs of failure. Finally one day it fried while in game. I am not an over-clocker so there was no real stress on the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Go intel you will be surprised at the performance difference

4 out of 5 eggssuperb

Pros: cheaper than other brands.
near identical performance to other brands that cost $$$$
BLACK!
decent overclocking ability
can fit HUGE cpu coolers without any trouble

Cons: 8x PCIe in crossfire
4pin molex needed to pwoer other slots if there is a crossfire setup
overclocking is in 5mhz increments
OCing isnt as great as other boards
the mounting bracket for the CPU is pretty bad. only one clip on each side. my arctic cooling freezer 64 mounted alright but it still makes me nervous cause its not super secure.

Other Thoughts: i was stuck between this and my favorite brand ASUS. i still LOVE ASUS, but i needed something a little lighter on my wallet and chose the ECS. i do NOT regret it. when i win the lottery i will probably go back to ASUS, but as for now, ECS is my savior!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Dual LAN, decent on-board video. Worked right out of the box. Excellent HTPC choice with options for gaming.

Cons: No DVI. not enough fan inputs.
Limited options for future BIOS update. Updating the BIOS seems a nightmare.

Other Thoughts: Value and decent overall quality.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst board ever

Pros: There are none.

Cons: First of all this is the first time I have ever writen a bad review for anything. Now where do I start. Would not recognize my Phenom 2 810 with out updating bios. Then the driver disc did not work at all. I usually get all the drivers online any way but i needed the ethernet driver to get online and that did not work either. This board has only been in use for 4 months and the ethernet controler has already died. The sound ports and usb ports randomly quit working and it will not reboot with my printer plugged into it. I'm waiting for it to explode. I have built 15 computers for friends and other people over the last six months and this board is the worst one I have purchased ever in my whole life. If you want a real board get MSI or ASUS. This is the first and the laast time I use anything other than either of those to. Now I have to go and purchase this guy a new ethernet controler and look incompetent because what I got for him does not work.
