4 out of 5 eggsgreat replacement for hard to find HP mobo

Pros: replaced my HP micro atx with this one. everything hooked up, except the firewire (which I don't use). Had very difficult time finding an exact replacement for my HP computer. This one worked great.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsDown in flames

Pros: I thought it was a good buy at the time...

Cons: Bought it on 11/18/2010 for my grandsons system and just got around to putting it into his old box this past weekend (Jan 15, 2011) so it past Neweggs 30 day window. Could not get it to post on CMOS reset or anything else I tried. Went to the local Fxxs and bought the exact same mobo under the MSI label and it did post. Tried getting Newegg to accept it back for a credit since it is now a duplicate but they said no and to contact ECS...right.

Other Thoughts: Went to the ECS site and there is no place that is evident to request an RMA. Posts on other web sites say that one needs to contact ECS tech and jump through hoops and then they may let you return it. That process may take up to 8 weeks. I had used an ECS mobo a couple of years ago and has issues but thought I would try it again. Bad move on my part.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Quality for the Price

Pros: Good mobo for the price

Cons: The first one I recieved was DOA (reason for 4 eggs instead of 5), sent it back and got another one right away.

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with this board, great for the price

5 out of 5 eggsFine

Pros: Price - works fine.

Cons: Don't get this if you plan to overclock - the BIOS is very limited in this aspect.

Other Thoughts: Not a single operational problem - POSTS every time.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Good board, cheap price. Can do some OC with this board. Fast shipping from newegg.

Cons: Can't change RAM voltage. Only one PCIe x16. PCIe locking tab is located under the card. Not easy to unlock and remove card. Not a big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Hmm... I've ordered $2K stuff from newegg, only 1 RMA; and yet, no newegg freebies in any of my orders. What's up newegg?

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

Pros: -CHEAP
-All heatsinks are passive, which makes this a silent mobo
-Reliable. It's worked without a hitch for over a year and is still going strong.

Cons: -no gigabit internet, seriously? If you don't care about this, that's fine, but if it's crucial, just spend a little more and get a board with gigabit internet.

Other Thoughts: This was a great board to tide me over until I made a full blown upgrade of my computer.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems from the start for me.

Pros: The price was right. The specs were more than enough for what I needed.

Cons: From a scratch install there was no sound. The performance was good. The system quickly became unstable. During game play you can count on it rebooting. I got the sound to work and thought that may be the problem. Nope! I performed another scratch install and the system became more unstable, to the point it would not even reach the bios setup page.
I don't have a complicated system so I thought this would be easy.

Other Thoughts: I have a Gforce 9300 graphics card. I checked with the manufacture and that should not be an issue. I bought this as a combo with a CPU. I can still return the board but not the CPU. I guess I'll be shopping around for another board that works with this CPU...

Manufacturer Response:

We do apologize for the stability and POST issues you have experienced.

Please go ahead and contact us again as I would like to look into your issues and help get your system running correctly if possible. I would need to find out specific information to your configuration such as what OS, CPU, power supply and memory being used.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow what you are buying

Pros: Came with a CPU combo so the price was right. Decent board for an HTPC setup. Has good audio on-board with an SPDIF internal connector for porting digital audio (DD, DTS etc.) to an A/V receiver. Has decent expansion capability for a low end mATX board. Will allow VERY MINIMAL overclocking of the CPU. Board has been very stable so far.

Cons: This isn't the board for you if overclocking is important. It has no allowance to increase CPU, memory, chipset voltages. You can adjust the CPU FSB but that is about it. I did get a Celeron 5400 to run stable at 3.5ghz with the cheap Intel heatsink and fan. This isn't worth dropping an egg because the board isn't advertised as a good overclocking unit. I researched the specs, found it met my basic requirements ans have been very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this then don't expect more than a very basic motherboard with a couple of overclocking features. It works quite well for HTPC duty with a decent add-on video card.
